Yes. Lothien moves to the eastern part of the room, away from the pathway of the crossbow bolts, and peers through the doorway to the east. Thinks, "Dragon head, poison smoke, blue light and shrieks. This may be the way to the heart of this wicked place."

(Just to clarify, the shrieking noise came from the east passageway past the door the others are gathered near.)

Lothien peers through what is left of the door to this space.
A glimmering blue light lines the stone tiles covering this chamber. The chamber seems to be empty, but narrows into a
ten-foot-wide aperture to the east, beyond which is darkness. Bold runes are inscribed above this opening.

(Thanks for clarifying, I misunderstood. Lothien has half-elf darkvision, if that makes any difference about what he can see).

Are you staying at the door to the eastern room or at the door with the others?

Awwrak steps over with Lothien, examining the bold runes to evaluate their level of threat before we pass...

Rodrigo will join Lothien and Awwrak, peering at the runes with narrowed eyes. "Never have I learned the meanings of these. There was always a lady more interesting than the study of musty old runes." He sighs. "And now I almost begin to regret that," the bard mutters.

Awwrak, Lothien and Rodrigo, this is the floorplan for what you can see.

So, you're saying I am too far away? Or I failed? Assuming the former...

Awwrak unfolds his wings and flaps, careful to fly over the floor tiles and not touch them as he gets close enough to study the runes...

Yep, the description I guess wasn't clear that the runes were actually across the room and not at that door.

Awwrak flies back to the others and touches down. He lets out a kackackkackack sound, then says, "It says, 'Let the respectful enter here.' I suspect that slot in the wall there has a trap for those who do not bow in submission."

Rodrigo grimaces. "I fear that this will not end well for me, if that is the case." He sighs, not for the first time regretting his irreverent nature.

:)"Hmm. Quite an insightful interpretation, friend Awwrak. It makes sense. I'll go through this door head forward, like a robbin hopping on the ground."
Re-adjusts his little wooden shield's leather thongs on his forearm and in his fist for more comfort, is a little surprised how much sweat has soaked into them. Bends, raises his shield forward and to just above his eyebrows, peering forward with Elven darkvision. Approaches the doorway and takes a good look.

So you are walking across all the blue squares in the first room?

At the southern door, those of you looking down the hall see two multi colored birds fly around the corner, they hover for a few seconds as they see you.
With a shrill squawk they fly towards you, both trailing a strange looking appendage from their bodies.

3of4 steps forward and the first bird dives in at him...and disappears in an explosion of feathers as it is cleaved into several pieces by the exquisite strike.
