Liam nods. I have everything I need, but my poor bees are being overwhelmed by the native bugs wanting to take over their hive. No bees means no honey. No honey means not only no sweet honey and biscuits for Randall's Sunday Breakfast Specials... he let's that idea hang. but no mead. I need someone with an ear for the people here who can come up with a solution. We can plug the door over night and it will help a little, but we need long term solutions if we are to make it an enterprise. We all stand to benefit from better food and drink here. I'd like to make it work.

"Randall not too surprise to ere dat you mainland bug not doing well. Mi can see ow serious ya is bout dis, so Randall will ask round an see if anyone haffi solution fi dis problem. If mi ere anyting, mi let jano. Jano?"

Liam

To that he salutes with the last of his drink and downs it. Ah... one Brewer to another. That is good stuff. I know I am bias, but I would love to taste it with a dollop of honey. We could call it a Groggy Liam! He chuckles making jest. They are actually Jetsom Bees. A tropical breed. Typically docile towards people but very aggressive and hearty against other insects. They are nicknamed Hornet Killer Bees. But the sheer numbers they are dealing with right now is what is getting them.

I truly appreciate your help, my dear friend. I look forward to hearing what you find out and most importantly, doing lovely profitable business with you.

He takes the empty mug from the man and shrugs.

He nods. Yes. And here... Paid in advance for when I get back, or for whoever brings bad news about me getting eaten by a giant mosquito or something. He laughs and waves as he walks out.

2 grogs are how many silver?

Randall doesn’t seem to get the joke, as he knows people personally who have been killed by mosquitoes. But he takes the two silver with a big smile anyway.

Wes

Still battered and bruised, Wes hauls himself up the ladder into the Treehouse in search of food and drink. He greets Randall. "Hey Randall! Are you still working here?". He gives the tavern keeper a tired grin. "Good to see you again".

Randall is genuinely pleased to see his friend Wes again.

"Wesless and Wild!!!! Whagwaan mi bredda?!?! Ya good? Ya look like whale shit!"

He immediately fills up a mug of the druids favorite drink, some nice thick grog.

"Where else Randall gwan go? Dis place all mi haff, jano!"

As the pair catches up, Galanthas also climbs up the ladder to the elevated tavern and pokes his head into the bar for the first time.

There he spots Wes and Randall about to raise a toast.

There are a few others in the tavern tonight as well, but none that the elf recognizes yet.

Lerrick, steps into the tavern after climbing up the ladder with ease. She scans the room looking for familiar faces, but sees none. She then moves a table and orders wine and a bowl stew. While eating she ease drops on conversations. Although it's only ben a day since she arrived back in town she feels the urge to adventure again.

Galanthas sees his friend drinking with Randall, smiles and shouts: "Hey! You celebrating something without me there? Give me some of that grog if you please, Randall!" He then approaches the bar, leans on it and continues "And maybe something to eat. I'm starving!... How are you two doing, by the way?" He'll then pay whatever Randall asks for the grog and the food, will look around to see who's at the tavern, how do they look like (the cleric who entered catches his attention at first, but he wants nevertheless to pick a sense of the people in the tavern).

While doing so, without turning to Wes, he says:"How did that business with the tree turned out?"

I'll deduct the money once Randall tells Galanthas

Randall gives Wes a look once Galanthas starts shouting, but quickly warms up once he realizes the pair are friends.

"Yesa! Yesa! Welcome to Randall's Tree-ouse! If you a fren of Westless, you mi fren too."

The thin, young man hustles to fill another mug with his questionable grog and pours the elf a steaming bowl of his jungle stew.

"One silva fi da grog, an one fi da stew, if you please."

"So, whagwaan out der? You two dinna fine no dragon, but ya find some missing baby, instead? My ero's!"
He jokes.

Randall rushes over to the lone female.

"Ya new ere, eh? I neva seen no one climb so fass. Ya part monkey?"

When the wine is ordered, Randall actually laughs.

"Mi no got no wine, mi juss got rum......or grog!"

"Stew will be no problem dough, coming rite up, jano!"

The slim barkeep pours another bowl of stew, awaiting the new drink order. The only other people in the tavern other than Wes and Galanthas appear to be farmers. There are no adventuring types around at the moment. Talk of the invading dwarves dominates every conversation in the place.

Wes

Wes grins at Randall's bonhomie. "Yes, i feel like whale shit too. Like I've got the whole ocean on top of me!" he gratefully accepts the tavern keeper's free drink.

When Galanthas arrives, Wes introduces the two. "Randall, this is my friend Galanthas, a great fella, saved my life and the baby's too"

"Galanthas, this is one fella you'll always run into. I call him Randall Encounter!"
Wes grins once again.

Once Wes and Galanthas are settled with their refreshments, Wes asks a favor of his friend.“Now, I have a request for you. I have an urgent need to return to the remains of that lizard-bird we killed yesterday. I’d like you to come along too, safety in numbers and all that”.

“Why go back to a dead thing? Well, our trouble with that strange tentacled thing in the cage has made me think I need another way to channel the power of Obad Hai. That thing was too dangerous to get close to. I’d like a way in future to kill something from a distance. And Obad Hai has given me an idea of how to do such a thing”.

“A spell to strike with the force of a club from distance. But I will need a focus, a totem, perhaps, to focus the magic. I hold a club in my hand while the magical energy strikes my enemy. But it can’t be an ordinary club. This club would be decorated with runes from the Old Tongue, known only to druids. Runes for Hunter, Strength, Attack and Distance.

“But I believe it will need more than this to summon the magic of Obad Hai, god of hunters. What could symbolize the power of a hunter to strike from a distance?”

“Then a thought came to me: the beast we killed, called Pterry. He was a great hunter who struck from a distance. When we killed him, he was under the effect of Obad Hai’s magic that I had cast on him. I believe the essence of that magic will still be within his bones.”

“I need to go out to collect one of his bones. I will carve it into the shape of a club and imbue it with the sacred runes. Then it will allow me to strike my enemies from a distance”.

Maag

Maag scrambles up the ladder into the tavern. He nods to Randall on entering. "Alrite, bruvva! Lets get sumfin to eat an'drink goin' 'ere" Maag hands over 2 gold pieces to Randall. "I'll 'ave a rum an' sum of dat stew. In ten minutes, bring me der same again".

Maag looks around for familiar faces but sees only townsfolk, an elf and a smelly druid. He takes a table to himself and begins to turn out a random pile of junk from his pouches and pockets: charcoal sticks, rusty nails, and pieces of dried, flattened palm tree bark.

Once he's finished his first and second meals, and starting on his second rum, he picks up one of the pieces of bark and a charcoal stick, and begins to draw. After about 15 minutes, he lays it aside and picks up a second, and likewise the third.

Finished, he takes all three pieces and the nails, over to the trunk of the tree supporting the whole tavern. He takes out one of his daggers and using the hilt, nails the pieces of palm bark to the trunk. Then he returns to his pack and comes back with Eawad's lute, which he hangs from one of the nails.

Collecting his pack, he orders one last rum, gulps it down and leaves the Treehouse, disappearing into the darkness.

Anybody looking at the tree bark would see three fine sketches of the faces of Judson, Eawad and Storm, each with an inscription: "Judsun. A gud man". "Ewad. We ardly new yer"."Storrm. Sory mate".

Galanthas smiles at Randall after he finishes talking he handles him the two silver pieces and begins eating his jungle stew and sipping his grog from time a time, grimacing each time he feels the burning sensation in his throat. "Ahhhh... I missed this stuff."

2 sp deduced.

He turns to Randall: "Actually, we met already. I was with you, Wes, too at that time. It was three days ago, I believe, as we met... well, our lost companions that bravely fought at the cave against the hag... But with all the people that has to come about all the time, I can understand why Randall wdouln't recognize me. My name is Galanthas, yes, Galanthas the Wise." He adds with a haughty touch at the end. "Nice to meet you, again." He finally adds with a chuckle.

When the innkeeper approaches the woman at the table, the elf listens attentively to Wes musings. "Well, if you're gonna go out there again, count me in. After all, I didn't have any plans around town right now. Just let me finish my meal."
I see double. Four Jernaus!
