"Well spotted. If everyone is feeling up to it we should check out the hidden door, as it seems to be the only way forward. Although we might want to consider checking out the other cells before we move on."

Re: Return To The Ruins (Warlords Palace)
Ceana coughs and gags again, spitting on the floor in a most manly fashion, and nods. "Yes," she croaks and gets to her feet, wiping the sweat from her forehead. She takes a long pull off a waterskin, coughs again and listens as Taibhse explains what happened to her.Monsieur Rose wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 1:42 pm Kainaxarthos "Good to see you back up Ceana. That mold didn't agree with you. Do you think you can continue on?"
Taibhse You were inhaling some kind of smoke and it was having a visible effect on you. Some kind of poison, not sure where the smoke came from, but I jumped in and Raven has seen worthy to extend your life.[/quote]
She nods. "Yoon'Deh and the Raven must be good friends. Let's check out the secret door."

Akhilleus
"A secret door. Interesting... I'm going to check the other cells." Akhilleus starts checking the cells one by one starting with the westernmost one, that hasn't been explored yet.
I don't know to what degree posting that map is a big of an effort. I only upload images from time to time (i.e. when creating a new character) and I suck at it. But it helps me insmensely visualize the place.

Cyril moves over to where the concealed door is and pokes at it and the opening with his staff. He mutters, "I guess now we know what happens if you try to burn mold...I guess fire is not always so cleansing."

Xenos will help Akhilleus search the other cells.

Re: Return To The Ruins (Warlords Palace)
The Zakath Desert
The Ruined Warlords Palace/Basement
Late Afternoon
Belloc urges Sik and Drest to eat one of the petals he extracted from the cone's core, noticing that they have already started to turn a little brown, as if they are spoiling. Sik pops one in his mouth and chews it down. He doesn't notice any changes in his sickness, but he suddenly feels very full and well nourished, as if he just ate a full days worth of food. When Drest sees there is no ill effects, he too eats a wilting petal, and gains the same nutritious benefits. Neither bite wound looks any better, however.
Akhilleus and Xenos look around in the open cells, finding old bones, rusted shackles, graffiti scratched on the walls, and not much else. The pile of refuse A hides a loose stone in the floor. Underneath is found a badly rusted iron shiv and 2 silver pieces.
Quite pleased that his suggestion to burn the mold resulted in finding another secret instead of killing a fellow party member, Kainaxarthos and Cyril investigate the cell. B The concealed door is made of wood, covered in a clay plaster, and painted to look like stone. The only handle is on the opposite side, which is found once the door is pushed with enough force to open it.
Rushing water is instantly heard from below as a dark, wet tunnel cut through the stone appears beyond the door. The tunnel slopes downwards at a very steep angle and the bottom cannot be made out from the doorway through the darkness.

She backs off as the others push open the concealed door, content to stand back for now.

Re: Return To The Ruins (Warlords Palace)
Akhilleus pockets the two silver pieces and the shiv. A man with few resources can find value anything he may find.
"I don't have any rope, unfortunately, but hearing rushing water in this place is a miracle. A new way has opened to us. We should definitely investigate. An don't forget to replenish your water skins."
The former mercenary will get a stone and cast it down the trapdoor. He wants to know how long does it take for the stone to reach the bottom in order to get an idea of the distance from the trapdoor to the ground, or water, if it runs immediately below it.

Belloc
observes the afflicted with concern,
make sure to eat the core as well.... probably Ceana or someone else in our group would be better at treating the wound and affliction than me
moves to continue exploring the compound and the group gathered at the entrance of the newly discovered passageway
i do have a rope
he hands over a 50' silk rope

Cyril peers down the slope into the darkness
"Which of you brave souls is willing to slide down the slope and see what's down there?"
Is there any way to evaluate the urgency of the sickness?

Taibhse
Taibhse makes his way to Belloc and the two suffering from the rat bites. Raven only provides relief for disease once per day from me, so tomorrow I will pray for one of you, and then on the next day I can pray to the other. Take care until then, if something comes along that may help earlier than that we will see what we can do. Until the sun rises again you will have to bear this burden.

Kainaxarthos
"A slippery slope, to be sure." He reaches down to feel the slide, trying to determine if it's water or not. "Are there any other areas of the fortress to explore? Or do you think the snake people are down there?"

Akhilleus
"Someone less armored and nimbler than me could go take a look down the trapdoor and then, if everything's fine, the rest will follow.
I suggest Taibhse remains here with Drest and Sik though, since the pinecones didn't do much to help them, until they feel better".

Ceana
"I wish I knew how to help with the rat bites, but I do not," the druid laments. "In my village, our wise woman would drain and leech the wounds. There's nothing like a good bloodletting she would often say. And many of us have the scars to prove it!"
When the proposition is made to slide down the slope, Ceana doesn't even acknowledge it. Instead she continues to look around the cells.

That suggestion has merit, and I would be honored to stay with them.

Kainaxrthos
Kain is down for exploring, given that we can use the rope to reach the bottom. He does want to wait to see if the dampness is due to water or slime.
