Gerdal rubs her temples, thinking intensely about the tablets.

"Gah, I'm sure there's something there!"

Since these creatures are fungus based, is there any way to creatively use Entangle? They might count as vegetable matter themselves?

You can't control Entangle in the sense it causes roots and vines to grow in a certain area if such are available. The lichen on the flagstones will have some form of rooting stem. Casting it directly upon a fungus/tree like creature might have unintended consequences? You can try it, but if you cause it to grow into a 20'ft square room sized mass of poison breathing Fungicides ... well who knows what might happen

Gerdal

"I give up. Maybe before we leave we can join forces and try to take the two fungus men down from a distance? I'm sure we want to read what's on those tablets. Speaking of which, sure Orgoth, go ahead and grab that bow. What's a better opportunity to try it out? Sven, are you finding anything interesting over there?"

Exploring the Fungal Corridors.

Orgoth takes the longbow, strapping it to his backpack. Isvand has the antlered helm, tossing in between his palms trying to figure any traits or secrets out. The antlers look like a normal Stag, wide tines pointed upwards and forwards. They are not loose in the helmet fixtures, the lining fur but otherwise unremarkable. No inscriptions as to ownership or decorative sigils.

If no one wears it in the dungeon confines, you can sack it up for more investigation later. The painted mural another conundrum. You have seen before that creatures such as the frightful wraith crawl out of a fresco, the one in the Palanthus gauntlet room. No matter how gard you stare at the painted forest scene, you don't notice anything unusual about it. Perhaps with infravision alone, not spoiled by lantern light? Even shutting yourself in the room in the dark does not suddenly highlight any special heat or cold radiances.

Isvand and Willo random perception vs 17% and 33% [1d100]=55 [1d100]=86

Conundrums in the Halfling Fungicide crypt. Suggestions are made to invoke druidic spells, unseen aides or simply use them as target practice from the doorway. Much is spoken but no actions initiated.

In the far crypt, the other coffers are carefully examined without disturbing either body. Sven can recognise that both bodies are in a decayed and rotten state and their wrapped burial linens are torn in places, shredded in others. Blood on the bandages, now dried could be from stab wounds inflicted upon them. One figure temptingly wears a medalion under his wrappings, a long chain of razor blade shaped links that hold a palm sized medalion in the shape of a star made from sharpened obsidian.

The two amphora are investigated. Neither contain gold coins, treasure or dessicated body parts as is common in such burials. One holds grain seeds, the other a fine ashen dust. There are no markings on the earthenware.

actions getting either medallion or runic tablet requires an action that would you think be interpreted as 'disturbing the dead' if you thought of triggering actions.

thoughts & actions please.

I say we hack the two bodies to get the medallion, then target practice style kill the fungus halflings from a safe distance in order to study the tablets?

Orgoth

We definitely need to stay back from the fungus to prevent getting infected.

Isvand asks Should we try to burn them? I don't know why I want to burn everything all the sudden. That probably isn't wise, is it? Sven and Gerdal can you determine anything about this magical mural? Ot gives me the willies. He prepares his bow, for whatever target(s) may need to be headed.

Sven takes a little of the grain, and a little of the ash for future inspection, but doesn't otherwise disturb the contents or the mutilated bodies. He joins Isvand in the mural room, admiring the items found in there. "Let me take a look, Keymaster."

The mage tries to look beyond the painting, hoping to understand what emotions the artist must have been feeling while he was at work. He looks at the scenery, but looks past it as well, closing one eye, then the other, and studying the borders just as much as the artwork itself.

"Perhaps we need to know this poor fellows name or some other activation words? Did you try simply......walking into it?"

He nods at Gerdals idea to chop up the body with the medallion, pointing her towards the coffin. "I'm not much of a chopper, but feel free to give it a try with that nice magic sword of yours, if you like."

He looks at Orgoth and shrugs. "Maybe try putting an arrow into one of those creatures from the doorway with that new bow?"

Yardie has two arrows, those picked up from the crypt with coffers in (room 18) where Isvand went exploring after voices.

Orgoth

If the bow is strung Orgoth will give it a try with the 2 arrows Yardie has. He will target the closer of the 2 creatures.

Orgoth is not proficient with the bow, but he does have an open slot if we decide he should keep it.

Escape [_9d6]=(3+4+4+3+1+4+2+3+4)=28

Bow [1d20-2]=1-2=-1 to hit [1d6]=3 damage

Classic.

Isvand has an embarrassment of arrows and will hand Orgoth a quiver (score size) with 16 in it. Sheet updated He's still got a full quiver! Looking a Sven, he replies I did NOT try to walk into it. I was born at night, but it wasn't last night!

Exploring the Fungal Corridors.

Orgoth
according to my House Rule, I join javelin & spears under the same WoP tag and you noted your Cudgel as a non-proficient weapon, so you can allocate Bows long/short as your fourth choice from Char-gen. You actually have five WoP's having invested here:
Ollis grants Orgoth's request and he joins the militia cadets during their four day basic training, learning drill parade, pike formations, horseman's mace proficiency and earning +100xp.
Testing his new weapon does not go the way he planned. Nocking an arrow, taking aim at the halfling Fungicides and loosing the bowstring, he expects to make an impact. Perhaps you pull too hard, perhaps in big hands the slim crafting is a mere matchstick, maybe it is cursed or some ward protects the motionless creatures. Whatever, the bowstring snaps and the arrow flies definitely untrue, zooming in a circle around the small chamber and back out through the door to ricochet off walls and finally skid across the floor and into a pit.

Gerdal can unsheathe one of her exotic shaped weapons, sharpening the edge with a pumice stone. Sven finds the grains are little pea sized seeds, dry and old but still fresh and free of any contagion. Between the mages, you can identify them as some type of ancient papyrus.

The fine ashen dust is inspected. Pouring out a handful into an empty vial but leaving the rest.
add 'Vial of Mummy Dust' to inventory. It definitely makes you sneeze as if used as snuff but in a hectic and violent way. Having choked already on Fungicide spores, another debilitating bout of coughing is the last thing you need.

do you investigate any of these while wearing the 'plague doctor' type mask? Sven add a [1d20] with your post please.

Isvand, designated Keymaster still cannot fathom any of the mural mystery. Like a locked door, he has neither key nor skeleton tools to force entry beyond. or does he? Others take turn to stare at the walk too.
"There look, a branch moved and some a leaves blew across the path." says Gnimish, pointing at the mural. He has that certain feeling of someone or something is watching into the room, like that feeling you get from camping at night and looking into the trees and all your see is reflected eyes staring back at you.

further actions please.

Yardie equips the bow over his shoulder, fierce warrior mask in his face, so you can't tell if he smiles or not.

He restrings it and takes the quiver of arrows but following the loosed arrow returning with almost deadly force, doesn't try to target the Halfling Fungicides, not being sure if the bow is cursed to 'back bite' the archer or the creatures are shielded by some anti-missile force.

any other actions?

Sven watches as Yardie messes around with the bow.

"That's it!........maybe."

He looks back to Orgoth and the others. "Do you remember when we entered the small crypt with the portal to the water world? The first time we entered that room, nothing happened. BUT! The second time we went in, after we drank the water breathing potion, the way was opened to us."

"Now I wonder if the items in this secret crypt aren't needed, kinda like keys, to enter the mural."

Sven will ask to borrow the helm and the bow, not to use in combat, obviously, but to attempt to enter the mural to see what else can be found. If the others agree to allow this, he gives his idea a try, equipping the items and walking directly into the trail painted on the wall.
