Smoke grenades get hot, but are not incendiary as such. There are plenty of areas in the garden, such as the paths, where there would be no risk and I doubt the grass is that flammable.
The enemy have used lasers and grenades, we've used a PGMP and a grenade, and you're worried about smoke grenades.
Feel free to provide some alternative ideas.
A PGMP, inside, I'd also be worried about.
Explosive Grenades flash-burn - it's either alight or it isn't in a moment - mostly it isn't.
The garden isn't the most flammable place I will admit. Unless you land the grenade in the towel-bin!
Smoke grenades depend on the compound...but for IR obscuration, WP seems likely. And that is hot and long-lasting. (But given the generally low level of moisture in the atmosphere, probably only fully effective in the pool area)
And given the equipment we have to hand, prismatic aerosol grenades may not be an option.

These are just the standard smoke grenades from the main book. I don't know if they are IR rated. I'm sure Tiglath can rule on it.

If they aren't, then even an ACR can see straight through

Doesn't mean they are WP, though, all you need is a smoke that blocks IR as well as visible light.

OK, so is using some smoke grenades to provide cover for an entry from the NW hatch good idea? Or just bringing attention to ourselves?
Tiglath, I'm assuming that the freshers/stairs/stand provide some cover for the NW hatch?
A function of smoke is to draw attention by "
marking" an area but it also provides
obscuration of targets.
Drawing attention to an area may also draw fire. So this would be bad -
or would it?
As to cover the answer has to be "Yes" - but be guided by the map. Anyone imagining the luddite GM holding a 12" ruler against his screen to check lines of sight, thereby exhibiting his portfolio of "analogue skills for the digital world", would of course be mistaken!
and...
In answer to the queries above "Yes". Your smoke is "thermal smoke" and blocks IR sights (otherwise it's useful only for
marking in daylight). Yours is the mid tech variety designed to work at mid tech in the tactical "obscuration" role.
Psimatic aerosol grenades are a different animal altogether - strangely relevant here??? These are
effectively "high tech smoke" where blocking the visible spectrum is less important than the spectra of laser weapons.

WP is "Incendiary Smoke" which is different to "Chemical Smoke" and perhaps something of a deliberate misnoma reliant on the military being much more comfortable issuing "obscuration grenades" than "handfuls of napalm" to throw at enemies. The practical difference might be whether you want your obscuration to be in a nice tidy "screen" as opposed to "running about screaming"...

Prerna
Please make a Tactics Roll for Prerna.
Please make an Int Roll for Prerna.
(OOC: This last is "a kit recognition roll" so add Rifle skill plus your +1 Int bonus).
If there are so many Kit's that you need a recognition roll you can call me Ankit.
OK, I know this is not directed at me but is this referring to the parts of a gun or something else?

To the British military everything a soldier carries is "kit", but it especially refers to the weapons and special equipment. In this context that probably translates as "Let's see if you can identify that weapon"

Indeed, we stand divided by a common language!
Apologies for any confusion caused "kit" (small k) is British for "gear"!
And The Bindoner has correctly divined my purpose!

All, it's good to be back. You've been super busy in my absence. Poor Jakob seems to have missed a lot of the fun!

Yeah, it's looking more and more like Frank was taken for a right mug
At least no one has died because of it...yet.

I dunno about that. I skimmed the last 20-ish pages. Heavy numbers against us, hostile (insane) environment, charter precluded real intel gathering, and at least one capable competitor (Erica) on the field. Now strike craft and lack of close air/far space support, unknown enemy agents already inside the wire, and even more numbers. Multiple layers of difficult situations and a brand new unit.
OOC, since Jakob hasn't been properly brought back around, we likely need to see if we can help Erica's other troops, and maybe Jess' buggy-buddies. We, or at least I, really don't know what's going on; taking care of the extended "ours" is a compassionate action and useful military tactic.
Jakob is a trained MedTech in sickbay. As soon as he comes around (and Tiglath gets things going) Jakob will comm Frank and ask for orders. Jakob knows little, unless Liv can brief him on what's gone on so far.
If you want, the Guard that aren't Gaughan's could be sent down for stretcher teams and rear guard support. Jakob's leadership might help steady them, and he could see about cycling the lesser wounded back to light duty faster.

It's good of you to say-so, but.. .
I think it's Erica that's taken Frank for the mug and it's her team that's in the North garden. The last bit is speculation based on the fact that Erica's squad is the only known squad around.
It doesn't matter, Patch will be here soon and it'll be time to surrender. We can't take on the Outworld Coalition, I'm hoping we can negotiate the safe passage of the delegates and SEMC.
