Re: Keep on Keeping on; The Battle
Ondrake continues to lumber around the tower barely noticing the pin prick of the arrow. His eyes light up yet again with blood lust at the sight of yet another maggot in his way - and proceeds to cave in his skull from the fierceness of his blow.

Re: Keep on Keeping on; The Battle
Fire, Rubble, and Dust
Go Time! Round 6
Evening, Partly Cloudy, Warm
Horsefly pushes his way through the wooden hatch and up onto the western wall ramparts. He spots a guard up there who he harasses verbally just before the man turns to fire a crossbow at the goblin. The bolt flies over his head, but most certainly gets his attention. Kermut and Shozbot continue to fight hand to hand against their opponents with varying degrees of success. They both take minor injuries in their little skirmishes. 3/2 dam
Othrod smashes his huge pole ax into the head of the guard attempting to climb up onto his wall. He crashes back into the hole and drops down the ladder on top of another unsuspecting guard below, now knocked prone at the base of the ladder. Othrod is pretty sure he wont be able to squeeze his large form into the hatch to gain access inside when 2 more bolts fly past him harmlessly.
Ondrake the giant continues to run amuck through the inner courtyard unabated. He slays another sorry guard along the way as he tries to get out of the path of the stinging crossbow bolts coming from behind him. 2 dam He ducks behind a wooden building in the front corner of the round tower where he can hear another guard on the wall just above his head. Give me a save vs. Spells in your next action post, please.
The inner courtyard is now a battle field of noise, fire, dust, and confusion. Common folk run around here and there trying to put out fires and figure out what is happening while guards continue to spring out of doors. The dust cloud from the collapsed tower starts to rise up above the destruction, allowing everyone a good view of the blue beam of light that now shines form the central tower to the corner.
Thamansa continues to ignore the dim shimmering woman on the balcony, instead lifting the stand with the crystal ball and smashing it against the stone walls of the tower room. The ball shatters loudly and the beam and the shimmering woman suddenly disappear. As does the blue light illuminating this tower, casting the room into darkness flickered with the orange light of the fires below.
Looking across the open courtyard at the blue central tower, Thamansa sees the opaque color of the upper floor of that tower begin to clear, revealing a single human male on the inside of the glass-like walls. She knows enough about magic to see that he is in the middle of casting a magic spell as she watches.

Growling fiercely, the gnoll again attempts to gut the puny human, but once again is unable to bring his sword into an effective position.

Othrod
Othrod looks for a torch to grab, if one is near he will grab it and throw it down the open trapdoor. If none are close he runs back to the north hunting for someone to kill. He will try to stay tight to the outside wall to make it harder on the archers targeting him.
If needed
Halbred [1d20+4] = 17+4 = 21 to hit [1d10+8] = 4+8 = 12 damage

Ondrake sees another fleshy target and charges him spinning the ogre leg above him as he runs! He'll duck back into cover as soon as the puny guard's brains are leaking out of his crushed skull.

Fire, Rubble, and Dust
Go Time! Round 7
Evening, Partly Cloudy, Warm
Kermut is having no luck trying to kill the very first human he's encountered inside the Keep. That pair continue to dodge, thrust, and parry to no avail. Horsefly fares a bit worse when he tries to toss another snake at the guard facing him on the wall. The guard shoots him in the chest, 2 dam causing the thrown snake to fly harmlessly over the ramparts. Snakes should know better than to ever trust a lying goblin. The guard drops his crossbow and draws his sword for hand to hand combat.
Othrod grabs the torch from its wall sconce and drops it down upon the guards below the hatch at his feet. He hears more shouts from them, but none appear willing to stick their heads up above the hatch once they see the split skull of their dead friend. The huge bugbear looks around to see what he can kill next, finally spotting the guard on the ground trying to fill him full of bolts. He is stuck again by the man, but he hardly even notices. 1 dam
Ondrake rushes over to help as a second bolt of lightning erupts in the night sky, this one headed straight for him, coming from the upper central tower with the clear walls. Somehow, the bolt suddenly dissipates in mid air, allowing the giant to crush another skull of a puny human. Two more guards rush out from the large corner tower behind him, shouting and charging in the giants direction as another crossbow bolt flies past his huge head. Othrod sees this pair emerge as well.
Thamansa takes to the sky again once her work is done in the empty tower level. She sees the wizard in his tower casting a spell at her giant, so she aims her trusty wand and fires a dull green ray at the bolt that just shot out of the mans fingers. The spell is negated mid flight, but the wizard, somehow able to see through the darkness, now turns and begins casting something directly at her this time, following her movements as she flies.

Re: Keep on Keeping on; The Battle
Ondrake doesn't notice how lucky he was with that spell as he gleefully frolics in the entrails of his foe. Seeing two more puny humans eager to die - he rushes back over to that area (close to the wall to keep those pesky arrows away) - and bashes another trespasser into oblivion...

Re: Keep on Keeping on; The Battle
Thamansa spits in frustration that she alerted the wizard to her presence just to save the hide of bone-headed giant.
She fires off another charge of her wand of negation to counter whatever the wizard has planned for her as she looks for any openings in the wizard's big blue light tower.

Re: Keep on Keeping on; The Battle
The wizard is 70’ up in the top level of his tower, about 150’ away.
Othrod could rush north, climbing across the rubble, to aid Horsefly.
Or he could try to jump across the tops of the small buildings in the courtyard to reach the southern wall and the crossbow man there.
Or he could jump down from the wall and help the giant fight the guards on the ground.
You guys are all monsters, so feel free to take a few liberties. The more far fetched and zany your actions are, the more likely I am to allow them.
Take some chances....have some fun.......you’re all going to die anyway.
(ok, maybe not all of you)

Horsefly
Horsefly giggles his best "crazy goblin" giggle, whips out his wand, and fires off two magic missiles at the guard.
[1d20] = 4
No luck. He backpedals as best he can, hoping to find a thing he can climb onto.

Fire, Rubble, and Dust
Go Time! Round 8
Evening, Partly Cloudy, Warm
Ondrake seems to be having a great deal of fun frolicking through the dusty chaos and smashing the puny humans to pulp with his ogre leg club. He spots two more rushing at him, so he intercepts them, smashing another to death as the other brave bastard stabs him in his leg. 4 dam He is hit again by one of the many stinging bolts flying at him from every direction, but again he barely even notices it. 1 dam
Horsefly pulls out his wand as the guard he faces on the west wall reloads his crossbow. Neither adversary is able to get off an accurate shot towards the other, so the goblin looks around for a place to climb instead. He finds the square tower wall behind him that he could scale. Or, he could simply climb down into the courtyard from the wall he is currently standing on. Othrod rushes north across the huge pile of rubble he created by knocking over the tower. He can now see the wizard looking out of the top floor of his tower almost one hundred feet up. He also spots a normal door at the base of this tower. As the crossbowman reloads, the huge bugbear rushes up behind him with his massive halberd ready to strike. (you can use that same roll if you like, he just cant move that far and still attack in the same round)
Shozbot disappears under the central wall of the guard tower and can no longer be seen by anyone in the group. Kermut still hasn't exited the stables, so his condition is also unknown at this time. Thamansa hovers in the air, pointing her magic stick at the blue wizard again and sending another ray of green light towards the man just as he too pulls out a wand and fires it at her. 4 tiny dart-like missiles shoot forth from it, the magic energy of the two wands passing in the night like blind strangers. The missiles all hit Thamansa, causing her some minor discomfort mid flight. 7 dam But her magic ray hits the wizards wand as well. She smiles when she watches the mage look at it in his hand before shaking it a few times and then eventually tossing it aside in disgust. He glares at the flying monster again and appears to begin another incantation.

I don't have a clear sense of the construction of the tower with the wizard in it. Is it possible for Thamansa to fly in and engage the wizard in melee?

Re: Keep on Keeping on; The Battle
Maybe this will help....
The upper floor appears to be made from a kind of clear stone or some other transparent material. That floor is 10' high and the clear walls stretch all around the upper level for a 360 degree view over the land. When the blue mage appeared, it seemed that one quarter of the wall facing due south had dissolved or parted for him so he could cast spells from his elevated position. There is a conical, wooden shingled roof above that floor, but she didn't see any way to access the tower through the roof.
So, yes, there appears to be a small opening in the south quadrant of the clear walls where she could fly into if she wanted to engage the wizard.[/ooc]
