Chapter One: Arrival

Jardin, making no threatening movements still, hails the strange stranger approaching them from the darkness, "Friend! What tidings from your travels in the Underdark?"

Bingo remains still with the lantern light directed at the armor.

The empty suit of armor stops directly in front of Jardin, lifting it's right arm and extending its gauntlet, On its ring finger, it wears a grey hued ring that has two tiny inward-curving horns atop it.

Tilthig

He will stand up and look in the hallway now. Gasping as he spies the empty armor, his mind whirls at the idea of trying to take the ring.

If none object he will attampt to remove the ring from the offered hand.

Bingo sees Tilthig moving so carefully sets his lantern down and places his hand on the hilt of his short sword.

He will stand up and look in the hallway now. Gasping as he spies the empty armor, his mind whirls at the idea of trying to take the ring.

If none object he will attampt to remove the ring from the offered hand.

Tilthig reaches up and carefully pulls the ring of the animated armor's finger, cautious of the weapons it carries at its side. Once the ring has left it's gauntlet, the armor's arm drops to its side as well and remains there motionless.

Jardin steps back in surprise "I've never seen something like that before.."

Not very knowledgeable about such things, but fearful of putting on a magical ring without knowing what it does, he replies.

"I would advise against putting it on until we know what it does. What if it is a cursed ring?"

"Very wise, magic is a tricky thing. It's unlikely that people are handing our free magical rings without a catch. Assuming it is magical. We've not been here 10 minutes and this place has already gotten weird."

Celionas is the only one capable of casting Detect Magic at this time and he did not prepare it. What do you do?

"Not entirely sure. It did allow me to take this thing" he eyes the ring he is holding in his hand

"Let me see if he will let me pass."

He turn to the empty "Armor" moving forward so as to stnad to the Armor's side, looking up at it.

"Will you let us pass?"

The armor neither moves, nor speaks, nor responds in anyway to your question. It remains posed there.

Is there place for us to pass next to it or it is blocking the hallway?

The hallway is 10' wide and the armor is dead center of the hall so there is room on either side to pass.

Tilthig

The gnome attempts to pass by the Armor, his back to the wall.

Tilthig presses his back against the stone-worked wall, attempting to give as much space as possible between himself and the formerly animated set of armor. Seconds feel like minutes as he inches past the armor, shadows from the lantern Bingo brought along play across the helmet giving Tilthig pause as he feels the armor turn towards him only to realize it was the light and anxiety. Not quickly enough, Titlhig finds himself past the weird suit of armor and it has not made a move.

Exhaling loudly with relief, the svirfneblin calls to the others in a low voice "THe armor has permitted me to pass so I am presuming you all can pass as well."
