Staying close to the fighter, the cleric whispers a prayer to Pelor. She then moves back a bit and equips a bullet
in her sling.

The large jungle cat crouches down low to the sand once the fighter growls back at it. The standoff gives Lerric just enough time to Bless herself and Gramble, strengthening their resolve and steadying their hands against this dangerous adversary.

Jeeves loses it completely, turning from the others and running for the shore, hoping the animal won’t follow him into the water. The cat sees this action and lets it’s instincts take over, leaping from its crouch and sprinting through the sand after its frightened prey.

Bounding past Gramble and Lerrick with lightning speed, the fighter misses with his large ax and Lerrick nearly falls backwards as she gets out her sling. The feline catches Jeevus at the shoreline and bats him down hard into the waters edge with one swift claw. The skinny scribes blood starts to turn the lapping waves a sickening pink color.

The cat keeps one huge paw on the back of its downed meal as it turns to growl again at the two people trying to interrupt its lunch.

Grambles powerful legs bound in large strides towards the cat and he springs into the air axe above his head as he tries to bring in down on the cats skull.

Lerrick gets up, puts away her sling, then runs with staff in hand towards the cat. She looks for an opportunity to aide the scribe if she can.

Gramble charges the cat once he sees his scribe fall. His mighty blow misses the quick reacting feline, but his scream certainly gets it's attention.

Lerrick switches to her staff and rushes up to help her friends.

The cat strikes out at Gramble with one paw, still protecting its meal with the other. The swipe catches only armor and doesn't injure the stoic fighter.

Jeevus's blood continues to flow out into the water as he lay there dying in the sand under the cats large clawed paw.

The cleric moves to a position where she can tend immediate to the fallen scribe. She swings her staff with all
of her might to try to knock the cat off Jeevus. In her attempt, she misses badly, almost hitting Gramble instead.
Aaagghh! She yells out loud in frustration.

Get the cat away from Jeevus! He'll die if I can't get to him soon!

Lerrick almost smacks her friend with her staff while attempting to get the animal away from the dying Jeevus.

Only by the graces of her magic does Gramble's next blow connect with the cat, cutting a deep gash into one of its legs. It leaps from its downed prize, trying to take out the large fighter next with its huge paws. Gramble evades the beasts massive claws, but is bitten on his leg as he readies for another chop. 5 dam

Jeevus continues to bled out into the water, but his body is now clear of the fighting.

Lerrick rushes to the side of the dying Jeevus. Laying on her hands and praying over him, she is able to bring the skinny scribe back from the brink of death, but just barely.

Gramble and the jungle cat continue circling each other in the soft sand of the beach. The big cat claws the fighter again. 4 dam But it also takes another slash from the fighters massive ax in the process. Gramble has a hard time fending off the much quicker beast all alone, especially with its multiple attacks. The cat is bloodied now, but it still hasn't given up on this fight.

Jeevus has seen enough and wades out into the water where he hopes the giant feline wont follow him. "Cats don't like the water......right?"

WP, your magic ax is +1 (+2 vs. Undead) and does d10 damage (3d4 vs. L)

Gramble shouts at the jungle cat aggressively as he swings his ax. The animal appears ready to pounce at the fighter again when Lerrick also steps in and bonks the thing on its head with her staff.

Dizzy, bleeding, and now outnumbered, the feline decides to forget about its easy meal who is now wading out into the water, holding his journal up over his head. The cat circles the pair for a moment before bounding back towards the jungle from whence it came.

You may each take an attack of opportunity as it flees if you wish, or just let it leave.

As the jungle cat bounds away, Gramble takes another hack at it, cutting into its hind leg badly with his huge ax. The thing cries out loudly, now only able to limp away slowly towards the trees. The new injury nearly cripples the poor animal, making it much more vulnerable to future attacks.

Lerrick decides to give up the attack, instead casting her final healing prayer on the badly injured fighter who is still trying to eliminate the feline threat for good.

It would be cruel to lave it defenseless, better to put it out of it's misery.

Like any good fighter would, Gramble puts a quick end to the jungle cats suffering.

Since they are so close to town, the group guts the animal so that its meat and hide can be carried back to share with the others who have so little.

The rest of the trip goes by uneventfully and the trio is back in town by mid afternoon. The animal is brought to the fire tenders so it can be taken care of before it spoils.

I am going to keep this thread active in case someone wants to try this endeavor again sometime. The only XP I can offer so far is for killing the cat, which is worth 400xp. That makes a cool 200xp for each of you. Please record that on your sheets.

This will free up Lerrick and Gramble if either or both of them would like to go along with Maag on the island hopping mission.
