Well we either walk into the trap or ask them to come out, which is it? Urth asks the group.

Re: Group 2, Episode 0: Breburh
Before entering and given the already shadiness of the situation. Catarina asks Kañ-Demir, “if you want to pass the pin along I can try my best to drop it in a pocket while you all are conversing”
Re: Group 2, Episode 0: Breburh
Kañ-Demir nods and passes the pin to Dr. Jones. "Good. Look for Urth's moment of distraction. I'll do what I can to help."
Re: Group 2, Episode 0: Breburh
The Barn
"You think if someone was gonna sell something for a sack full of diamonds, they'd be a bit more...visible," Dureau says. "Yeah you'd think they'd be on time and in sight," Grimbul grumbles, raising an eyebrow and scratching his beard for a moment. The ranger, still outside the door, begins to scan the entry area and notices that the dirt just outside the opened doors is heavily trampled, with a mixture of human or humanoid prints and the hooved prints of what you'd expect from farm animals -- but none appear to have been made recently.
Catarina’s tail lifts her robe slightly signaling her intent of being potentially aggressive. "I don’t like this at all --" the half-cat rogue purrs. "-- but the thought of a red dragon’s egg; it really makes me want to follow this through.” A mouse scurries across the entrance, from left-to-right, capturing the rogue's attention.
'Well, we either walk into the trap or ask them to come out, which is it?" Urth asks, then, seemingly without hesitation, Kañ-Demir walks to the open barn doors and knocks on one of the walls.
"Anybody in there? We are here to do business."
The odor from the straw-covered floor just inside the door is more pungent from the closer distance, but monk quickly pushes that distraction aside when a rustling from inside the barn is heard and a lantern light flickers on. A quintet of individuals file out from behind the interior walls or partitions -- two from the left, and three from the right side.
A sinewy elf in gray clothes smiles at the four humans behind her. “I told you they would come. A dragon egg is much too valuable to pass up,” she says, chipperly. “Now, let’s do this quickly," the elf says, turning back to the group. "Here," she says, holding out a very large hide backpack towards you. "Here is what you're here for."
"You throw the payment over to me, and we will leave the egg here. We will exit the barn, and then you can leave after five minutes have passed. No fuss, no muss.”

Grimbul grumbles again and moves in closer and tosses the sack of diamonds over "Alright here be the payment. Though I coulda handed it over but you said toss so there it is." the dwarf tosses the sack of diamonds towards the man asking for the payment aim to the nearest leavings if any are evident near the fellow.

Dureau Sathaos
Hold on a second. Do not toss them the payment until we see the egg. If you pay them without proof of what we are buying, we could be getting a backpack full of rocks, and they'll be gone with the diamonds before we realized we were cheated. Turning to the elf, he continues. Nothing personal, but precautions must me made in this line of business. You understand, I'm sure. He smiles at the elf when he finishes speaking.

Kañ-Demir tries to stop his fellow dwarf, Graybeard, from impulsively throwing the payment so immediately. "We need to inspect the egg, make sure it is genuine. That could be paint and plaster, for all we know. Give us but a moment."

The Exchange
"You throw the payment over to me, and we will leave the egg here. We will exit the barn, and then you can leave after five minutes have passed. No fuss, no muss."
The words still ring in your minds as you eye the elf holding a large hide backpack at her side, and her four armed human companions behind her. She stands patiently, keeping her guards at bay, as she awaits the payment.
Everyone watches as Grimbul takes a step forward. "Alright here be the payment," he grumbles, casually bringing his arm back in an effort to toss the requested diamonds across.
Both Dureau and Kañ-Demir rush quickly at Grimbul, looking to prevent the ranger, posing as a dwarven merchant, from simply handing the payment over.
"Hold on a second!" they both say in unison, with Kañ-Demir intercepting the toss attempt a moment before the pouch was set to leave Grimbul's hand. "Nothing personal, but precautions must me made in this line of business," Dureau says. "You understand, I'm sure, he continues with a smile.
"Indeed," she says, cocking her head slightly, staring at Grimbul.
An imposing Urth looks on from behind the action, and Catarina begins to speaks up, voicing her request to inspect the egg. "I am here to inspect the egg, as I have studied all types of artifacts, relics, and --"
"Hold on..." the elven seller says, interrupting the half-cat mid-sentence. She holds up her hand up, open palm pointing in Cat's direction. "Please, a moment," she continues, still studying Grimbul.
"Something is not right here."
With a few flicks of her fingers, in unison, the four human guards behind her rush forward and assemble in a front of her, readying their weapons, but not approach further or making any obvious threatening gesture.

Re: Group 2, Episode 0: Breburh
Kañ-Demir makes a show of setting his quarterstaff down. "Here. I am unarmed. Allow me and the tabaxi to approach and examine the egg. Our merchant patron," he indicates Grimbul, "is a bit in his cups, but he was sober when he hired us. Please allow us to earn our pay by doing our job."
He attempts a step forward, arms held forward, palms open, in a gesture of passivity.

Catarina steps in to the side. “You are the ones acting odd. We just want to complete this deal as quickly as possible”.
Catarina looks up at the loft to see if there is anyone hiding up there. After realizing she was completely distracted by a stupid little mouse her senses now are on high alert and her tail is bristling.
