Wonder how the intro would have played out IF the group had moved the tables off the stage and figured out how to open the trapdoor before anyone else arrived. oh well. ;)

Different how? Probably different on a few things.
Most games will not have a powerful monster, such as a djinn, in a level 1 group's first encounter.
Another example of how this game is unlike most, is the system. 2.5 is not all that popular anymore.
Greyhawk and 2.5 were not popular together, due to timings of their respective releases.
By the time 2.5 edition was being played at its peak, Forgotten Realms (and a few others) was being supported alot more than Greyhawk.
Most greyhawk adventures happen, during the Gryehawk wars.
This game is 6 years after the ending.
Also, I have never dm'd a play by post game, so im learning as i go.

for another example of a d&d game that is different than most...check out a google search of ...
Acquistions Incorporated D&D videos. (Penny Arcade, Pax, Chris Perkins, Wil Wheaton, they all get together once a year to play in front of large crowds). I find them pretty funny, and entertaining (that game uses 4th edition)

im sure there are countless other reasons this game is different than most. Might be easier to list the ways that it is the same. :D

I think he was asking if/how playing RPGs IRL is different. Right, Epic?

stone as for running a PBP game, you're doing fine. if you got any questions from one DM to another, i can help if ya need.

As for Skuzz:
1. Did Skuzz see the soldier's sword blow right through the Djinn without harming him?

2. How many people are still in the tavern that did not get out before the djinn closed the door?

Nellsir did indeed 'hurt' (a slicing cut to the upper waist) the djinn with the longsword which has landed two feet from him. The wound turns slightly mist-like but does leave visible indigo evidence of injury.

The six of you, and the pigeon
Basher (invisible)
Cluemiester (who appears to have passed in his sleep)
Nellsir (does not seem fatally wounded)
Four guards in the room with you, they look to be trying to form a rank in front of the door.
One civilian , a merchant from Dyvers mentioned by name during auction, but I havent bothered to name him yet, frantically pulls at the 'stuck' door.
25 xp to the player who can come up with the best name (my choice) for the human male merchant.
There is one other 'person' in the room but no one has rolled sufficiently to see him/her/it.

i think i found a new kit and build to ban.
my math is right... at 1st level - I strike 4 times a round, and (if all 4 hit) i do a minimum of 20 damage.
1pt min dmg +4 str/prof dmg bnus x4 attacks= 20 dmg
this point buy thing is soooo breakable..
which is why , as of now.....i am stopping allowing C&T and point buy in my future games

dm call:
thrown darts do normal damage (no strength modifier) at long distance.
Although strength can be used to increase that range for thrown weapons.
Short range can do the indicated 5 per, to keep with rules. (and ive never been one for rules)
Medium range is reduced to half str modifier, rounding down
what is the short, medium and long range for your darts?

Convention day 1:
Ok, im out the door to the gaming convention this weekend.
Please try to post actions, perceptions and initative rolls, as the mist solidifies into the djinn.
and Ill throw more poo at the fan when I get back.

game convention day 1 recap:
hope I can get more players than yesterday
one person, one!!!. Both of my events failed to launch.
and when i got home last night I saw no one else has posted their actions as the djinn appears.
Im not in happy DM mode right now.
By tonight the djinn will get his first action.
You still have time for surprise round stuff.
Im out the door to games convention once again..... :ugeek:

day 2:
what a difference a day makes.
I had 4 players in the morning slot, 5 for the afternoon game and 5 in the evening. I'm wore out now. Happy DM? yes.
day 3:
today i get to sit and be player.....steading of the hill giant at 2pm
one of my face to face regular players is going with me today.
should be interesting, it will be his first convention.
i ran the morning slot, i had 4 players and we all had great time
2pm i sat in on Steading of the Hill Giants
my friend didnt show, but we whooped up on Nosnra .
part 2 failed to launch and I went home and got some needed sleep, only to learn that it DID launch and I missed it. :(
day 4 :
Sunday i played a new board game called Mice and Mystics, it is fun and easy to learn.
the players are mice warriors and mice wizards fighting against the cats, rats and roaches, etc...
I just hung around and caught up with old friends for the rest of the convention.
good times :D

I would like to name the merchant Iago. I'm currently reading the Shakespeare play Othello and so far he is my favorite character in the play :)

Well, no posts since last wedns.?
What's wrong? You cant be bored with a djinn in the room.
Is everyone frozen in fear?
Would you rather just fight rats, bandits and skeletons?

If nobody states an action soon, I will bump it along again, giving the djinn, and NPCs, another free round of actions.
Maybe everyone IS frozen in fear.
