The pair of farmers looks around at the action near the trailhead, both of them seem rather surprised to see what is happening there.
"By the gods! What is THAT thing? No sir, Mr. Liam! Never seen anything like that round ere before!"
"Imagine the size eggs that thing must lay, eh?"
The farmers arm themselves with Liam's offerings and stand by the new beekeeper, more interested in helping protect the animals than rushing off to get into the fight.
"Isn't that one in the middle Wes the druid? The one Marge was cooing about?"

Liam
Watches the happenings at the trails end and nods, watching seasoned fighters go to work. Aye, aye... he says thoughtfully. One big chicken. I am sure we could make some good omelets out of the eggs that beast would lay... Hmmm... You know... Where they is a chicken, there is usually a nest with eggs. Do you suppose there is anyone that might be able to backtrack that bird to its nest for the possibility of eggs?

The farmers look astonished by the size of the creature, both of them are adamant that they have never seen one of these oversized chickens around here before.
"I'd almost be afraid to see where that thing nests!" Says the first man.
"I wonder if they taste good fried!" Says the other.
The huge bird advances on the fighters as they fire arrows into it. The one called Wes shoves the butt of his spear into the ground as the thing approaches.
"Do you think we should.......I dunno.......go help them?"

How far away is the melee from Liam? How long would it take him to get in good range to shoot?

Raythan's home is several hundred feet away from the trail, so you aren't very close at the moment.
Running towards the action (180') for a full round would get you in range for a Medium range (-2) crossbow shot.
"Firing into melee" rules will apply!!!

Liam
Shakes his head. Stand our ground. We guard the food supply if it comes to it.

The farmers nod at Liam and stay close to the pens they helped build.
"Have you ever seen a creature like that before, Liam?"
"What do you suppose something like that is called?"

Liam
Considers it a moment as he observes the fight. Maybe call it an Axebeak Chickensaurus?

The giant blue chicken doesn't appear to want anything to do with the fighters. In fact, it seems to be trying to run right past them as they hack away at it with swords and spears.
The hunting party wounds it a bit more as it tries to flee, due south, towards the beach.
"So, where do you suppose that thing came from?"
"Hey! Is that a rope around its neck? That's weird, eh Mister Liam?"

Liam makes a face. Does someone have snares set around here for catching game? Perhaps it was caught in one, got surprised, then broke free; running in a panic...

Freeday, The 5th of Goodmonth
Getting Situated
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Sweaty
Liam watches as the chikenasauraus blazes past the men trying to cut it down and heads straight for a group of his new townsfolk. He is a bit taken aback by what he sees next.
The one the farmers called Wes throws out a spell of sorts right in the path of the fleeing monster. The very plants around its quick feet begin to ensnare the monster, stopping it right in its tracks. The creature screeches and squawks loudly, flapping its tiny wings, while the men begin to advance on its position.
The farmers stop talking at this point, staring at the action with saucers for eyes.
Action?

sometimes i really hate you.
He nods.
I'll stay in crossbow range in case you need help.
Liam stands and goes to Reythan's door.
Psst...
Sorry to wake you so soon friend, but we have a situaltion here. I need to check on something. Come watch our helpers a moment. We have a Tyranosaurus Chicken problem.
He then begins making his way hurriedly forward checking over his shoulder occasionally for danger from the trees as well as check on the farmers, hoping Reythan can keep them honest.

Since Liam wont know how many animals get eaten while he is gone, we can resume this action over here.

Liam returns from the action near the trail to find everything in order, just as he left it.
The penned animals have already either eaten or rutted up everything edible in their confined area. The noise from the braying sheep and goats, along with the snorting of the pigs gets a bit louder as the animals begin to grow accustomed to their new surroundings. The chickens inside the log home grow louder as well, pooping on the half-elf's clean new floor.
Raythan stands in the doorway, still shaking his head in disbelief when the beekeeper returns.

Liam... the birds were in cages! I promise!!!
The man smiles apologetically to Reythan. Giant Tyrannosaurus Chicken. A great band, check them out on youtube! All taken care of now. Looks like there will be meat on the cookfires for everyone tonight."
Liam looks to the farmers. Once they get that big bird cooked, you should make sure to go get yourself some. It was very impressive up close, looked very muscular so hopefully, everyone will get some good meat in their belly tonight.
Liam goes ahead and asks for his sickle back, chopping some more greenery for the animals.
