Kitchen
Once everyone has settled into position, Junius carefully pries open the door to reveal a simple, but functional kitchen.

A long wooden table of decent quality, accompanied by eight wooden chairs in various stages of disrepair, occupies the center of the room.
Off to the right, a burgundy, 10-foot square rug covers a section of the floor.
The far left corner boasts a sturdy support hook and a cauldron under which embers glow from last night’s broth. A small but functional air duct above the fire pit proves adequate, and a cool chill settles in the room from the air being moved about.
Junius checks to see if anything of value is laying around the room.
Sacro checks under the table.

AdaRue checked the pot, hoping she doesn't find any human parts.

Horatio checks around and under the rug.

Vernon stands near the following embers, warning his hands and legs.Colder in here than I thought it'd be. He invites the others to join him.

Kitchen Junius enters first and begins to pace the room, checking to see if there is anything of value lying around -- but finds nothing. AdaRue ambles over to the pot and peers inside to find a creamy-looking liquid with random chunks of flesh and bits of bone filling the bottom few inches of the iron cauldron.
Vernon moves to the embers, warning his hands and legs. "It's colder in here than I thought it'd be," the fighting man says, inviting the others to join him. Dimly, Keebler, Rothal, Rainey, and Canun all huddle around the area of warmth and wait for the others to continue or finish their investigations.
While Sacro checks under the table, Horatio checks under the rug. The elf finds dust, crumbs, and an occasional scrap of food, but nothing too unexpected. After inspecting the neighboring area, the thief carefully lifts a corner of the rug and finds a series of 3-foot long wooden planks bound together with leather straps fastened into a makeshift door or cover of some kind in the floor.
Sacro watches as Horatio looks over the latest find, assuming it is a secret treasure stashed in the hidden floor cavity.

Horatio checks for traps, then opens the trap door if it is, er, untrapped.

AdaRue listens at the air duct, hoping it leads to the outside rather than another room where goblins can hear the group of adventures.

Dimly observes the trapdoor quietly as Horatio opens it, suspecting it might lead to a passage down.

Canun, unable to help himself, tastes some of the broth as the others examine the trap door.
"Care-fumhl" he advises from a full mouth.

Kitchen Sacro and Dimly watch on as Horatio begins to inspect the door in the floor for traps. Finding none, the thief lifts open the door which immediately releases a strong, foul stench. Everyone in the area instinctively covers their noses and mouths, and quickly learn that the fumes are not harmful, but are simply the by-product of the rotting meats and bones that have been dumped into the roughly 15-foot deep garbage chute the portal normally covers.
On the opposite end of the room, AdaRue carefully steps around the cauldron and listens at the open end of the air duct, hearing only a hollow silence. Just behind her, Canun lifts the ladle resting inside the cauldron and brings it, along with some of the broth, to his lips. The putrid liquid and some unidentified chunks of something solid fill the cleric's mouth with a pungent, repulsive taste.
AdaRue plugs her nose and peers into the chute. Is it possible this is the source of the plague? Just rotting food getting into the water?
Should we burn it and move on?

Maybe if the villagers just had a case of the runs, says Dimly. Let's secure this place as best we can, starting with the other passage at the last junction.

Kitchen
The repugnant odor of the opened garbage chute catches the attention of everyone in the room. AdaRue halts her investigation of the ventilation shaft and crosses the room. The midwife plugs her nose. "Is it possible this is the source of the plague? Just rotting food getting into the water?" she says as she peers into the recessed area. "Should we burn it and move on?" she wonders aloud. "Maybe if the villagers just had a case of the runs,"Dimly says, clearly not convinced the blight stems from something so simple.
"Let's secure this place as best we can, starting with the other passage at the last junction."Junius and Sacro oblige and head to the 'T' intersection that fed into the makeshift kitchen area they're in now.

The group is forced to decide whether they are going to burn the contents at the bottom of the garbage chute, and also how/where to proceed next.

Notes:
I still need a d20 roll from AleBelly.
I forgot to move the token for AdaRue from the vent to the garbage chute.
"That crap's stinky enough without burning it," says Horatio. "I s'pose there could be a secret entrance to a hidden treasure room down there, but I for one don't wanna go find out. Let's move on."

With newly warmed hands, Vernon bumbles out the door after the dwarfs. His bow is at the ready.
AdaRue acknowledges Dimly's point, but as he leaves, she pours oil over the mass of putrescence and ignites it as the group leaves. She tosses a couple of the chairs onto the heal the ensure the fire catches. She recites a prayer to the Mother to purify the refuse with fire as she shuts the door behind her.
