FYI---My personal library is now a bit more fully stocked. I have the UA, Monster manual and fiend folio to go with the phb and dmg... I also have acquired the BEC part of BECMI for the regular dnd game.

Of course, now I just have to actually read them...

A couple of questions:

How does the cavalier's perk of this, "Finally, cavaliers may expect full hospitality - food, lodging, and whatever else is needed (within reason under the circumstances) -
from all other cavaliers of the same alignment. Such hospitality is likewise
due from all gentle, noble, and royal households according to
their relationships between various political divisions which might be
concerned." actually play out? are these free? Is it a charisma adjustment? Or is it mindless window dressing?

Also, Is there any benefit to having an odd ability score, or is it is exactly the same as the even number 1 lower?

Knowing where this specific campaign is set, I truly don't see much opportunity for this, especially at first (which is the main reason I didn't make mention of it when posting the rules for the class). That isn't to say that your character isn't entitled to it -- you are. In all instances, the hospitality will be free (and may, or may not, be extended to those you're travelling with), but the quality of such accommodations will vary.

* At least in this game, a person qualified as a Cavalier has earned the right to even request (or demand) such hospitality from an enemy and it will be granted (begrudgingly, of course).
* Requests from those on good terms and of like alignment will yield excellent treatment.
* The response from an unknown hosts will depend on a myriad of factors. For instance, is the hospitality being requested or demanded? Some may view a demand as an insult while others may view the lack of one cowardly.

If/when such a situation presents itself, expect for there to be a good amount of role play necessary. I should also mention that it is also not out of the realm of possibility that such hospitality be demanded of you at some point!

Bottom line: It's not 'mindless window dressing.' On the other hand, don't expect many opportunities for this situation to present itself, especially in the beginning of the game.

Not exactly. Just like the Strength attribute in the 1E PHB, a 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 are all relatively the same. Depending upon perspective, however, you're either one point closer to the next highest level in the event your ability score were to increase, or you have a one-step cushion in the event that ability score were to somehow decrease so, in that sense, having the higher number will always be beneficial.

It would also be helpful if you are trying to make an ability score check for some reason.

I basically have three attributes that will be odd, so trying to figure out where to put odd versus even to help the most.
Dex for sure. Const allows one more death raise, what would wis or int be good for? Charisma during negotiations?

Are we doing age modifiers?



Edit to ask another question... Is it possible to add a category level to the section so all 20+ threads arent showing in a line? i.e. player intros ,waiting list, retired and desceased characters could be lumped into a category; missed treasure, opportunities, npcs, could be in a reference , etc to shorten the visible list? It is more a concern when using phone with a small screen. I know that is the reason for the table of contents, but thought this might help as well.

I guess I am ready for some gold.

I had one question as well. Is there any chance we could swap the racial bonus of +1 to hit from long sword to scimitar? I can't use a bow, so that one is toast.

I created 'Campaign Information' as a new topic with the intentions of using it as a "header" and moving the existing 'Campaign Background', 'Adventure Opportunities', 'NPCs' and 'Places of Note' topics beneath it, in that order.

I thought I've done it before, but I can't seem to figure it out now for whatever reason. If I can figure it out, I'll do it. If not, sorry, but hopefully the 'Table of Contents' post will help.

Thats about where im at too. Ive already wrote down some inventory but will need to adjust, and ive already posted a spell worksheet.

Encumbrance is more than simply the weight of an item. A large sack completely stuffed with feathers will still be extremely light, but it will be bulky. It's the bulk that accounts for the extra encumbrance. In the case of a spell book, the book itself will not be overly heavy, but it's size and shape will make it more difficult to carry.

Sorry, but how much of my starting monies do i need to subtract for it. 30?, 60?, free?

Havent figured that weight/encumb difference yet, so I'm just gonna keep two tabs running until I figure it out, but I dont see cost listed.

Sorry, the spell book you begin the game with is free. Its weight is the only thing you need to account for.
