OOC II
Re: OOC II
Are magic weapons detectable through use? If so, does sparring count as use? Can Keebler find somewhere to go shoot a couple of arrows at something?

Hmmm... sure. Sure. He could, but be careful: "Any projectile that has been fired is considered broken or lost and cannot be recovered."Zhym wrote:Are magic weapons detectable through use? If so, does sparring count as use? Can Keebler find somewhere to go shoot a couple of arrows at something?
(Note: I may need to revise that to account for magic projectiles? Maybe?)
Wow. He went the wife route. LolBluehorse wrote:You know nothing of witches! I'm married to one... dont mess with her blanket.... o.o

Oy. I didn't even think about magic arrows. I guess detect magic is the best approach.
And yes, I think a special rule for magic arrows would make sense.
Also, I've updated Keebler's and Tippin's sheets to add their shares of coin.

But to what?Zhym wrote:And yes, I think a special rule for magic arrows would make sense.
That they're indestructible? That they lose a "plus" after each use, until breaking once they're finally a normal arrow? Something else?
Thoughts?

Re: OOC II
Well, in AD&D, the saving throw for magical thin wood versus a crushing blow is 11. So one could simplify that and say that a magic arrow has a 50% chance of surviving each use.
Re: OOC II
I've been thinking about it, and I'd just assume keep it simple and just make them indestructible. I mean, why not just give the character a slight advantage once per encounter?Zhym wrote:Well, in AD&D, the saving throw for magical thin wood versus a crushing blow is 11. I would limit it to once per battle, though, unless the character is going to literally pull the arrow out of the creature (on a hit), or completely leave the combat to circle around everything and spend time looking for it (on a miss).
What I'm undecided upon is how to handle misses? What if they're in a forest, or in a field with corn stalks over their heads? Or it is shot at a creature in the water? How would the character find it? Or, how long would it take?
That might just need to be a DM fiat decision at the spur of the moment, depending upon the situation/setting.
Even so, it's better than a one-and-done.

Re: OOC II
It might depend on what kind of magic arrow it is, too. I usually figure arrows with bonuses appear in groups, making the loss of one sting a little less. An arrow of blank slaying, OTOH, is probably good for slaying only one blank.

Re: OOC II
If we're in town for more than a day it would make sense for a caster (perhaps Canun) to determine whether they are magical.
Re: OOC II
I wasn't considering having multiple quantities of each.... so I'll probably need to consider adding some sort of limitation on magical projectiles. I'll decide something if/when it becomes necessary.Zhym wrote:It might depend on what kind of magic arrow it is, too. The armor will take four days. Just saying.AleBelly wrote:If we're in town for more than a day it would make sense for a caster (perhaps Canun) to determine whether they are magical.
Some of the latest posts were about settling in the inn. How many rooms, and for how many nights, are you looking to secure? Feel free to answer in-character in the action thread.

My thought was although the price is cheap, we could still dpuble up pr more just to be economic about it. We've all stayed in a cave together with no problem, why not an inn?

Re: OOC II
Because of modesty and image. What would the townsfolk think of Mila and AdaRue if they were sleeping with all kinds of men (including dwarfs, elves and halflings). AdaRue will split a room with Mila though. We need lodging for 4 nights, at least, to get the armor completed. That is 2 gold, each. And food.
Re: OOC II
Junius is ok sleeping all in one room or as few as possible.

Junius: 50 gp, 973 sp [+9g, +39s]

Tippin: 37 gp, 768 sp [-4g, -166s]
Mila: 51 gp, 956 sp [+10g, +22s]
AdaRue: 52 gp, 981 sp [+11g, +47s]
Rainey: 55 gp, 999 sp [+14g, +65s]
Canun: 55 gp, 1022 sp [+14g, +88s]
I'm sure the gold/silver split could be more even, but I'm not optimizing that. The numbers above work out to everyone netting 165 gp from the loot (rounding to the nearest gp). These figures take into account Junius having claimed a bow and a rope.
I updated my sheet to account for all this. Plus(because I am going to be fairly busy this week) I went ahead and paid for the banded mail armor, sold the extra rope, etc. My problem now is that Junius is just above 80 lbs, making his movement 30ft.
He has a crowbar if anyone wants to carry it. That is 5 lbs and gets him below with enough to pick up gems and some coins next trip.

Re: OOC II
Mila's in good shape weight wise, she can carry for people assuming Canun did not buy a mule.

Here's a proposal for the rooms, just to keep things simple...
Mila & AdaRue
Junius, Tippin & Keebler (halflings are little, right?)
Rainey & Canun
Sound good?
17 gp deducted
14 gp and 65 sp added
(Edit to add: added extra 28 gp to match updated spreadsheet)
