Re: [OOC] Into the Unknown

#41 Post by Vektunaxa »

That underhanded merchant in Danum sent thugs after us to frame us; I have no doubt that they'll do the same thing in Camulodunon. Either we get to Camulodunon before that, or we abandon plans to go to Camulodunon entirely.

Considering that no one else has actually seen this mithril dagger, it seems an awful lot of expense to go through for a mere rumour. We should probably pick up a silver dagger somewhere and claim that this is what we, a bunch of country bumpkins, found.

Okay, I don't think I have a consensus yet as to whether to push on or stay.

The last I see, Vek is voting IC to push on; MM, to stay.

I don't want to force-march, but otherwise we should move as far as we can without doing that.

I'm not saying force march, I'm saying let's not leave half the day untravelled.

I'm good with not wasting half a days travelling time so pushing on if that is what the consensus is. Just do an IC with another character so Decimus is outvoted.

Yeah, the party still has 43 miles of movement for the day (72 minus 29). A forced march does not figure into these calculations.

EDIT: For purposes of clarity for those not carefully watching timestamps when switching between IC and OOC threads, the day being referred to in this OOC post is the IC date of 17th Springmonth I.

Hey, in case it's not clear, I've stopped after the most recent IC post because I do need votes before proceeding.

EDIT: More than one vote, I mean (I see that Wyzard voted).

Hey, following a discussion between Todd and myself, Cadmus has CLWed himself back to full health.

(I am posting this notification so that those who follow the wiki closely aren't like "Why the hell did his hp jump up?")

I'm starting to wonder about spreading our own rumours about the dagger now as well as using the naked dancers story to help divert attention, with ruffians assaulting a priest of the law who was helped by some village lads after a valuable dagger was found and a collector tried to have it stolen.

That might not be a bad idea, but it might be troublesome if it comes from a group of three country lads and a country priest that just happens to match the description of the rumour.

It would be a bad idea to split up while still on the road, but we might consider it just before we enter Camulodunon. Maybe one group could enter from the western gate and another from the southern gate. And hopefully we've been growing out our beards on this trip.

This makes a lot of sense also maybe getting yet another set of clothes to wear so we can look different.

No to splitting up on the road, yes to new clothes, if possible. We still need to find out how the rumor got ahead of us.

It could have been sent by carrier pigeon or they may have other means of sending things that we don't know of.

More important to try and avoid attracting attention as otherwise people will be looking to sell us for a reward.

If all they have is "group of four boys travelling together" then I think we're safe. We can spread obfuscating rumors, but whatever. We should stay together, so we can deal with any trouble that finds us, and maybe enter Camulodunon from a different gate than the one we'd be expected at. That's about as much as we can do. I think splitting up is a really bad idea.

All right, I have one vote (IC) for "keep heading east, don't spend time following up with Brigantius."

Could I please get some more votes just so I know which way to proceed?

You might not've noticed, but you're voting on something where a majority was achieved (Vek and Wyzard) and the game moved on IC.

As far as what's currently going on IC, I do need some more weigh-in IC.

Just as a note/reminder (EDIT: to everyone, not to Todd specifically), I like to avoid "Hey can we retcon in me talking to some NPCs in village X?", so I really like to get "ready to move on" indicators from a majority of the group.

(That way if someone does say "Hey can I...", my answer can (and will often) easily be "Hey, should've posted faster, the majority of the party was ready to move on".)

Man, I'm sorry. I'm having a hard time keeping up for some reason. I'm having a rough time at work; my current client is, like, the worst. It's the only job I've ever seriously considered just walking away from and that's really just wearing me down. One of my strengths has always been my ability to get along really well with clients, but man this woman is just fucking nuts. Thankfully, the contractor is someone I've worked with for a long time and he's also getting ready to strangle her, so I know that its not just me.

Like, I didn't check my email all this weekend because I didn't want to get an email from her, and I think that really affected my posting in general.

Oh, no worries, dude! I just wasn't sure if you were aware where the OOC thread was with regards to the IC thread since your vote was out of sync. This site doesn't have clearly-displayed post numbers that I can see (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Speaking of----Vek, I notice that you've been noting your XP (as is your wont) with post references. This is pretty awesome, by the way. You've noted exact post number of the US (Unseen Servant) threads.

How did you come by those numbers? Did you count, ah, manually, so to speak?

Todd: I imagine that working in the area you do, you get a lot of demanding clients?
