Action Thread 3
Re: Action Thread 3
Yah, I think we're good with the same watch schedule.
Till will try his hardest to appear relaxed without actually doing so, though he isn't really worried about turncoat dwarves until after they actually find the crypt.
Still... it is best to be on one's guard.

Re: Action Thread 3
Yosef suggests that they keep a separate but not too far away camp. He agrees with Till, in that they should keep their normal, standard watch rotation, just as the dwarves are sticking with theirs.
After checking on Eyman, Yosef will take some time to write in his journal, updating his rough map of their travels through the pass with the day's progress as well as what he's able to recollect from Wergrim's map. He'll also note the names of the dwarves, their apparent rank and how they interact with each other, as well as his overall impressions of them.

So separate camp and same watch schedule. Got it. Sorry it's a bit crazy at my second job, I might need to update this tomorrow. Saturday morning at the latest folks!

Re: Action Thread 3
A strange light passes over you and you hear Jeloon shouting:
Ovgur is about 100' away and starting to read a scroll in front of him, with the other dwarves charging toward you axes out. Jeloons shouts waken you in time, though it looks like Wergrim and Jeloon will finish before you get up. You will be up in time to meet the dwarves but initiative will be needed as well as actions.
migellito we can finish here. I believe (if my PM is correct) your first blow has landed, I just need damage. Then Wergrim will go followed by you. Then initiative for all.
You awaken to light emanating from Jeloon's eyes as she takes a mighty swing at Wergrim who is engaging her with his axe.Jeloon wrote: "to arms!! The dwarves are on us!!"

Re: Action Thread 3
Damn it! thinks Yosef to himself as he snaps upright and awake, seeing what his female barbarian companion's cry of warning is about.
As he gets to one knee with sword already to hand, and spies Ovgur reading off a scroll or parchment of some type, he acts. Without hesitating to think further, the elf points at Ovgur and casts his magic missile spell, hoping that it will strike and disrupt his using it against them:
Yosef's magic missile spell vs dwarven cleric:
[2d4+2] = 5+2 = 7

OOC: Ron, I know I had not made mention of this earlier, but Yosef had intended to sleep in his armor with weapons close at hand. I am not sure how OSRIC handles this but I know it says in 1E somewhere (although I couldn't find it from my bloody smartphone) that it is possible for adventurers to sleep in armor for small durations if not injured. Or maybe it was just for studded or leather and lighter. I am honestly not sure about this and want to make sure to ask for your adjudications on this, especially considering the fact that we were all nervously paranoid that this very treachery would occur!
(honestly, every time I bring something like this up in my FtF games, the other guys give me the "shat-eye" and threaten me with symbology of physical/mental repercussion. Sorry lads, it's the spartan DM in me that always wants to follow the rules and be fair, even it means I just screwed myself or another player over... <bends over and prepares to take it like a man!

Re: Action Thread 3
"Bloody backstabbing elves AND dwarves," Till mumbles as he frantically rubs the sleep from his eyes.
OOC: How far away are the charging dwarves? (And do they look like they are armoured as well as armed? If so, I would hope that was noted by whomever was on watch (i.e. all the dwarves bedding down for the night in full gear) and appropriate action taken...like nudging everyone quietly to let them know the dwarves were sleeping in the armour). I wasn't worried about the sleeping in armour for Till because I'd always understood leather/studded leather to be fine to sleep in - just chain and plate and the like being the armour that caused problems...
If the dwarves are far enough away, Till will take the opportunity the first (awakened) round to fire a sling bullet off at Ovgur (assuming he's separated enough from the other dwarves that the non-targeting rule wouldn't be in effect) then he'll draw his sword for the second round of hand-to-hand.
If the dwarves are close enough that he wouldn't have time to first fire off the sling, then he'll simply draw his sword and attack the nearest (and least armoured) dwarf with an angry and savage cry of, "traitorous scum!"
EDIT: Added more to the OOC.

Re: Action Thread 3
OOC: They are armored but as far as you know nobody noticed anything out of the ordinary (hmm, that's an awkward sentence) - until Wergrim and Ovgur came up to Jeloon nothing strange was going on. As for sleeping in armor, I can see nothing against it in the rules and you have a good point. Considering nobody is wearing bulkier than chain I'm okay with it. You can target Ovgur if you like. He is standing off to the side to allow the dwarves to run in. They'll be in melee range in time for initiative
We'll say you can get off the magic missile and the sling bullet right before that. Seems right to me.
IC: Light streaming from her eyes, obviously unable to see, Jeloon's sword (shedding its own, much less strong light) connects with the dwarf with a slash to the midriff slowing him down just a bit before he strikes with his axe. But like a blind man the dwarf misses wildly giving Jeloon enough time for another strike.
Meanwhile as Ovgur is speaking magical missiles strike him square in the belly causing him to stumble backwards, he starts to move so that he'll be behind his companions with scroll still in hand.
OOC: Let’s have Jeloon’s 2nd strike and any missile weapons go off here.

Till fires off a sling stone...
To Hit, Sling [1d20+6] = 3+6 = 9
Don't think that will hit.
He quickly slips his sling into a pouch and draws his sword.

Jeloon widens her glowing eyes and lets loose an orcish battle-howl, striking again at Weregrim!
[1d20-2] = 7-2 = 5 (-4+2) blinded sword attack
and a miss, I'm sure :/

Re: Action Thread 3
Van gets off a spear cursing, but to no avail, picking up a new spear he prepares for the onslaught.
Able to avoid any further damage, the dwarves are upon you.
Initiative and attacks, everyone was able to be prepared enough to be weapon ready. This will be round 2 with Jeloon's eyes full of light. The dwarves came in just past their leader to get to everyone. Basically they all take one person except for two who are attempting to head back to Ancor and Rosin. Ovgur only moves a bit closer, but well away from the fight (maybe 50') and brings the scroll up again.

Thinking I should roll initiative?
initiative [1d6] = 2
In case we lose init, I'll wait to roll my attack? I intend for Jeloon to keep trying kill Weregrim

Their init is 1. The party wins initiative. Also next round is a two attack round for Jeloon so she will automatically win init for her first attack.

Bruard attacks the dwarf nearest him.
To hit [1d20] = 5, damage with mace [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2 (sm/m opponent)
Looks like a miss anyway... damn dwarves!

That's AC6
In case that hits..

Re: Action Thread 3
OOC: I'll resolve some actions, but won't move forward with the dwarf attacks until Arg posts his attack.
Till hits. As does Van with his spear (for 5 severely hurting the dwarf opposing him) and (to his surprise) Rosin also hits dropping his dwarf
, and almost his sword in the process. Ancor gets in a great swipe, but misses barely! Eyman continues to snore away.

Re: Action Thread 3
Yosef sees the magical bolts of energy from his magic missile spell strike the scroll-reading dwarven cleric, Ovgur, as he and his formerly-sleeping companions now join Jeloon in desperately fighting for their lives against the deceitful and traitorous dwarves.
Just before the dwarf charging him gets to within melee range, Yosef is able to get to his feet with longsword ready in hand. Almost frantic that he couldn't get off his mirror image spell in time, the elf is suddenly overcome with an unusual sense of internal rage at both the dwarves betrayal and his not being a light enough sleeper to react more quickly. Unfortunately, he swings with more emotion than concentration:
