Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
McCloud will get all serious and slap himself wise (more than a few slaps no doubt), ...putting away scepter and crown he will strike a torch and keep his claymore to hand, "what other tricks and traps do you have for us...", he will edge his way forward around the room, stopping to listen for anything unusual, noise wise, smells, new blood stained footsteps, shadows moving ....
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Which direction would McCloud like to proceed through the room?
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
McCloud will stay away from the remains of the grizzly explosion in the SE corner. He knows to the north are three doors and two high above devil faces. So he will move due south and then towards the throne but this time much more stealthily hugging the pillars for cover. (from what I don't know he is carrying a torch and light bearing sword so he will be seen and heard but he suspects dangers and attacks from the shadows beyond...)
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Re-entering the pillared room, you carefully work your way south. McCloud moves up against a pillar for cover. As soon as his back touches a pillar, McCloud begins floating upwards, until he's bouncing on the ceiling like a child's helium baloon. A draft near the top of the room pulls him north.

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
McCloud will drop his claymore and make a grab for the pillar. Can he swim against the tide? He will use his ring of jumping to push back down from the ceiling to the floor and away from the north wall. how fast is he moving?
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Urdak finally gets the "Beard Brothers" reference and is chuckling when McCloud takes flight. Halfn-Elfn Cloud, Wat ya doin' up zere?
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
"Quick Odilo - extend your rope. McCloud grab this when it comes your way!"
I assume North means towards the devil face - right?

Why, now that you mention it, I believe there is a demon face up ahead...saalaria wrote:I assume North means towards the devil face - right?

Odilo directs his rope tie off around the pillar closes to him then the other end to secure it's self around the now floating or flying McCloud. "Rope a dope. Catch out flying half-elf."

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
McCloud pushes against the ceiling to spring down and grab the rope. Is he just floating like a balloon or being sucked into yonder grinning demon maw? How fats does he move and can he crawl along the ceiling spider like?
Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
McCloud tries jumping off the ceiling using his ring, but he finds himself unable to twist his body around to kick against the ceiling.
Odilo rushes north ahead of the floating, bobbing McCloud. He directs his rope to tie itself around a pillar and rise to the ceiling.
Let's play math! McCloud is bobbing along the ceiling at a leisurely 30'/round. He's 40' from the demon face. It takes a round for the rope to extend 10' in any direction. By the time the rope can tie itself to the northernmost pillar, McCloud has drifted by the pillar to within 10' of the demon face. At his rate of travel, McCloud will meet the demon face in 3 segments.
It seems McCloud will have a close encounter with a gaping green face unless someone can act very quickly.

Clever move. McCloud gets caught in Odilo's web four feet from the green face.
Now what?

OOC:
what ? pictured him upside down and rather like the image from charlies' chocolate factory, okay no ummpa lumpa's around to help but would have thought the ring being magical would have enabled him to push away from the ceiling and the grinning face. can he not grab a pillar and climb down?
Okay webbed up McCloud will reachout for a rope through the tangles and grab a hold so he can be towed away...the webs will hold for a while so we can organise capturing this little bird. If a else fails McCloud will drink his potion of gaseous form and drift away...

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
Odilo continues directing the magical rope to go to McCloud. Grab the enchanted rope, you can tie it around your waist. I'll have the other end wrap around a pillar here and once you are secured try cutting out of the web. Use the rope and pull your self to the pillar."

The Dwarf is carefully trying to piece together exactly what is going on.

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
The webs are blessing and curse. They stopped McCloud from getting sucked into the demon mouth, but they also hold him tight.
Stirling: Please roll a save vs. spell. If McCloud makes his save, he can crawl his way through the webs at half speed and grab the rope at the edge of the webs. If he fails the save, he's stuck firm and can't get to the rope.

Re: Ch. 6: One More Time Around
fumbling his way through a sticky web, remembering how his sword got entangled previously, McCloud reaches out for the rope like a man drowning in quicksand. seeing the grinning maw behind him it just freaks him out and he wriggles endless like a maggott on a hook or indeed a fly caught in a spider's web...
