Adrik attempts to knock the wolf over, exposing its underbelly in order to lay a final blow upon it and cease its desire to fight if not slay it outright. His war hammer arcs again!

End of Combat Summary:

The wolf gets the jump on Adrik this time, sinking its teeth into his arm before he can smash it into unconsciousness with his hammer and Crivit finishes it off.

Wolf vs. Adrik [1d20] = 17, damage [1d6] = 4

Adrik takes 4 points of damage (he looks battered but not in immediate mortal peril) and you now have 3 unconscious wolves on your hands. What do you do?

"Those of you with sharp weapons should slit their throats" suggests Crivit. "I heard a story at the Briarbeard about a couple of fools who tried to capture and train one. Let's not be like those dimwits."

He then kneels, clasping his war hammer. "Praise and glory to you, Veles. Your might and magic saw me through this battle."

After his prayer of thanks, he returns to the opening from which the wolves came, trying to determine if any other threat exists.

Nursing his worried and bleeding left forearm, Adrik mutters darkly, "Forget the blades. Just smash their brains."

So who's doing what, specifically?

Other than praying, I mean.

Constance very gingerly takes Adrik's arm, tearing off a piece of her coak and wrapping it on the wound. Very grandmotherly, she escorts him to the nearest rock or log to sit and inspect his condition.

She hears the others about to kill the sleeping wolves, and winces. "Just be quick and merciful about it, please," she creaks.

After discerning Adrik's state, she will attempt to retrieve her dart if she can.

Krysta takes her mace and deals the sleeping wolves solid blows to their heads until she is confident they are dead.

Then she follows Crivit to the cave entrance and peers inside...

Crivit will deal the wolves blows at the same time as the she-cleric, worried that they might wake up and attack.

Coup de grace only works for edged weapons. You can automatically hit with a melee weapon, but you need to kill if you don't want folks waking and counter attacking.

Well, I guess I should only be playing one character at a time anyway. At least the big one is still blinded!

Haha, at least if you fail to kill one you won't be moving on to the next until you deal with it...

Constance cannot bear to stand by and not be helpful, so she closes her eyes. "I'm sorry, sir wolves, but I would not forgive myself if you awoke to torment my friends further!"

She draws her wavy-bladed dagger and sets about helping the others finish the wolves.

No need for damage with the dagger--bladed weapons are auto-kills by the rulebook on sleeping opponents.

OK, the wolves have all been dispatched.

Crivit smiles at Constance. "Looks like you could've taken three of these wolves yourself. I'm going to stay by your side…unless Krysta is bathing."

He continues with his plan to investing the putative wolf's den. "Adrik, we'll investigate to see if this den is safe. If so, we can rest here, and I can bring Veles's divine healing upon you tomorrow morning."

"Here, take this," Constance says, and hands over her ten-foot-pole. "I'm sure it's dark inside, and there could be more things lying in wait--use this to probe the darkness before you go in too far!"

Krysta winces as Crivit tries to bludgeon the sleeping wolves and is somewhat relieved when Constance slits their throats.
"Shame to kill them," Krysta murmurs to herself.

She takes the pole from Constance and pokes around inside the cave, trying to determine just how far back it goes. If she hits nothing, she'll enter just far enough to be out of the light. "We might need a torch or something," she offers, trying to allow her eyes to adjust to the gloom.
