I think we can assume Njord would like to keep the spear. If the loot distribution is okay with everyone, we'll say Njord takes the spear + 20gp, Elbreth takes the ring + 50gp, and the rest of us take 200 gp each.
Ulf is going shopping.

The spear and 20g is fine with Njord.

That's cool with Jem.
Do we think the ring is Class related? Should he at least try it on or don't you think that would matter?

You have no idea whether it might be class related or not as of yet.

Elbreth will take the ring and 50g then and will wear the ring about town.

I had a wacky thought about that ring. Does someone have a rubbing or copy of the writing outside the ruins? It would be handy if the ring allowed the wearer to understand that language.

I don't think any of us had anything to write with then but that's good thinking. Did someone in a different party copy it?

Just wait. The translation will be:
"GO BACK THROUGH THE TORMENTER OR THROUGH THE ARCH
AND THE SECOND GREAT HALL YOU'LL DISCOVER..."

LOL, I'm actually playing in that module now over at the GG forums, I don't expect to make it out alive.
Herrin is fine with the treasure split.

Please remind me—I know equipment (like short swords) sells at half listed price, but do gems sell at listed value, or for less than that?
Also, do we know if dwarven short swords have any advantage over other short sowrds, or are they just nicely made?

Regarding splitting, Varas has no interest in the ruby, but he does want to keep one of the short swords. Valuation of the ruby is an interesting question - if I recall, gems are hard to unload in town.

Olympia has no interest in keeping any of the goods, but gold from selling things would be welcome. Alas, she cannot use any of the dwarven shortswords :/

Gems are not difficult to sell--they're fairly hard to purchase though.

So, with:
60 gp (60xp)
6 dwarf-style short swords (84xp)
1x 50gp ruby (50 xp)
If only one person wants a sword and we sell the rest, that's a total value of 60+14+5*7+50 = 159. Split five ways, that would be 31g 8s each (Varas would get 17g 8s and a sword). Since we didn't make enough on this trip for everyone to get at least 50g, I suggest we sell the gem and split the money unless someone really wants it and could pay another 18.2g for the exchange.
Edit: Math correction. Varas gets 17g 8s and the sword.

Actually, if no one else wants the ruby, Harold will do just that: put 18g 2s into the pot in exchange for the gem.

Okay. I've updated my sheet accordingly. It's easy enough to reverse if someone objects.
