Have any games of Open Worlds or Heroquest ever found their way here?

I don't think so keal. I looked through the archives/completed games and didn't see any there.

So I am definitely running a game in the New Year, either Stars Without Number or Labyrinth Lord (Advanced).

Never ran LL AEC, so if I go with that it will be a small affair to start, and hopefully pick up momentum as I learn my way around it. But I'd really like to do a Vornheim/Tales of the Grotesque & Dungeonesque inspired game. Maybe even use the setting of A Red and Pleasant Land (Wonderland + vampires = profit). Inspirations: Tim Burton, Guillermo del Toro, Mervyn Peake (Gormenghast), China Mieville and the New Weird. I can promise there will be teacups and bloodshed.

Just got the Red Tide campaign toolbox for Labyrinth Lord, and have been looking through Flying Swordsmen--If I don't go gothic with my next game, I'm going wuxia style!

Having purchased and read through it a few times, Red Tide's undeniably neat and useful. I think I was slightly thrown off--not disappointed, necessarily, but it was't what I expected. The title and cover art made me think it had an overall more Asian-inspired setting, but that's only a small part of it. (Read: more Vikings than I'd anticipated). So it's good but in a different way than I was looking for.

If my LL Vornheim game doesn't get off the ground, I'll definitely pitch a game of Red Tide (probably in Basic LL) or Stars Without Number. I'm always good to run SWN.

So bummed I missed the KS for Silent Legions.

Inheritance and dynastic character play is a big part of King Arthur Pendragon. It has several not cheap sourcebooks going into far more detail than you ever wanted to know about such things...

As for gaming, I am always up for Basic D&D, OD&D, and that ilk. Stars Without Number I have but have yet to do anything with.

Star Frontiers is one I keep circling. I think it had potential, but I never liked the implementation. Maybe I could skin it onto Machinations of the Space Princess.

So, anyone still interested in that Dragon Age game? I've decided to man up and just go do it.

need to write up character creation and all that since all I have are the books, with the choices and everything listed it'll just make everything easier for people that don't own the books.

Isn't Dragon Age a video game? How's it play as P&P?

It's certainly a very new table top game compared to everything else on this site but I find the rules easy to grasp and mechanics fun and interesting.

the quick start is free that is nice of them. :) speaking of Dragon Age I just got Inquisition for my xbox 360. Not so keen on the game battle/mechanics as of yet got my ass stomped by a demon. Shortly after starting the game.

I haven't picked up Inquisition yet. I want to get a One and would prefer to get it for that system. Haven't played the non-video game version of Dragon Age, although I know someone whose wife will be running some games at a con here coming up in the spring. I'm hoping I can get into one of those, or better yet, playtest them before the con.

I've beaten Inquisition for my ps3

I actually loved the game, including the combat. My Lightning Battle Mage was a monster by the end of it with all of my custom made gear.

I might be coerced into joining a Dragon Age campaign, depending on the post rate. Classes start up here on the 12th and I don't want to spread myself too thin before I see how the semester is going to go. So I'm a maybe at this point but interested.

As a player I am looking for:
System Anything Powered by the Apocalypse
Dungeon World is my favorite system
Apocalypse World is excellent but I haven't played it very much
Or any of the various other hacks (never played Monsterhearts, but I'm not sure if it's really my kind of thing)

Setting and/or Genre
I'm pretty open to anything.
Favorites are sci-fi, supers, and "weirder" fantasy (stuff more like, parts of, Elder scrolls, or Bas-lag,or Codex Alera, or Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser which aren't just rehashing Tolkein in fantasy-europe)

I would be willing to open a new game if this type. I've kind of been wanting to do this for awhile now. Let me know if anyone else is interested.
keal wrote:I know that these things are taking place all over the web (here and in other places), but I would like to participate in a B/X game or perhaps something making use of the Rules Cyclopedia to run some of the original modules for oD&D that I never got the chance to play as a kid. Things like "Horror on the Hill" and "Keep on the Borderlands," et al.

I realize that most of these games are about survival and smart playing and frequently avoiding combat entirely. That's okay, too, especially if all involved were having fun.

The reason I would like to play a module is that many of them were a lot of fun that I missed out on, and they are pre-written and include so much detail that the person running the game would really only have to focus on the mechanics and keeping the game afloat instead of having to come up with ideas. More energy could be spent making sure the game *functions* and is entertaining, so it would be less stress in the long run for the DM I imagine.

A "New Weird" RPG would be nice, I'd love to take part in it as a player.

Other games I'd play/run:
Space: 1889 (play/run)
Gamma World or Mutant Future (play/run)
Unknown Armies or Over the Edge!! (play/run)

Just got A Red & Pleasant Land, a Lamentations of the Flame Princess setting (though I'd likely run it with Labyrinth Lord). It's a strange, dark Wonderland with size-changer cakes, cards vs. chess pieces, eldritch dinner guests, and vampire wars! It's definitely going on my list of things to run sometime in my life!

Oooh, I'd be more than interested in playing in that setting!
