As long as you can come up with something unique about that character. Get outside of your comfort zone, have fun with it. Try to create something unique, something that perhaps hasn't been done before. Challenge yourself, but have fun with it too. And for dang sakes forget about the traditional Race/Class restriction. F o r g e t t h e m.
Although there will be serious events and times during this campaign, there will also be a lot of fun stuff too.
Here is the most important thing to consider when creating your character:
Your character will be part of a party of adventurers who will be working together for some cause, event, situation. Your character should not be a loner at heart. You, as a person, YOU, should only have a small part in your characters life. Obviously YOU will be playing that character and part of YOU will come out. But try to develop a character that can thrive among others, work in a team, and have a personality you can manage as something separate from yourself.
Hopefully that wasn't too confusing.

By Gawd, if you want to play a ballerina gnome I will let you. I'll even tie him into the story line.
I would LOVE to see someone play a Ballerina Gnome. I would laugh my ass off. If you don't believe me ask MonkeyWrench, he will testify.
Ha!

Nope I think I can handle that! I'm thinking a Dark Elf who is aspiring to be a Psionocist but has schizophrenia.

LOL
That's what I'm talking about...
I'll put together the Psionocist and Dark Elf basics over the next few days. GO ahead and work on what you think you want it to be. Fill out the character record sheet and shoot it over to me.

Re: LFP: Custom OD&D/AD&D Dungeon Crawl - STATUS: NEW (OPEN)
After all my bouncing back and forth on half-ogre, half-giant or minotaur I finally decided Minotaur with the aspiration of becoming a Knight.

You should play what you want. I am perfectly happy adjusting my adventures/campaign to suit any combination.

Re: LFP: Custom OD&D/AD&D Dungeon Crawl - STATUS: NEW (OPEN)
For some of you on a fence, here is my version of the Knight and Monk. I haven't completely revamped all the classes yet but I'm working on them. Magic use is next. I have different versions for magic. One inherent abilities and a mana pool of sorts, another is like the typical magic-user memorizing spells with spell slots per level. Just a few FYI's These are my first drafts and I am still tweaking them a bit, so keep that in mind.
Knight
Base Skills:
• Cause Fear (-2 to opponent attacks, Initial attack by creature type per encounter)
• Inspire Courage (+1 attacks by party members once per encounter)
• No armor movement rate penalty (for all armors)
• 2 Weapon Fighting (Medium weapons only) (Allows 2 attacks per round)
• Cure Light Wounds (4 times per day)
• Cure Serious Wounds (twice per day)
• Cure Disease (once per day, 6 segments)
• Turn Undead
Prime Attributes: STR, CON, CHA
Hit Points: 12
Weapon Allowance: Heavy, Polearm (Large versions only)
Medium weapons (Dual-wielded weapons only)
Armor Allowance: Bronze, Full, or Field Plate only
Description:
Knights were originally created by the highest order of men. Trained from birth to defend castles from evil forces bent on destroying mankind. Knights spend the first half of their life in academic and physical training. They learn to fight with heavier and heavier sets armor and weapons. The Knight learns honor, code, respect, and self-discipline. Before a Knight leaves the Knighthood, they must recite the Knight’s Measure, a nine-page doctrine defining the meaning of honor. From that point forward the Knight begins and ends each day with the Knight’s Oath: ‘Est Sularus oth Mithas’ (My Honor is My Life).
Once knighted a Knight lives a life of servitude. Defending those in need from the forces of evil. A Knight lives his life in dutiful servitude. This life isn’t a painful existence, but rather an honor. By following the Knight’s Measure they spend a lifetime following the ideals of heroism and courage. To die protecting those in need is a lifelong dream. A Knight feels it is their personal responsibility to protect the weak and oppressed, the poor and enslaved, the falsely imprisoned, fellow Knights, and the defenseless. A Knight only takes as much as he can carry easily and always gives his remaining share of earnings, after expenses, to the poor and needy. A Knight never backs down from a fight. They will fight to the death protecting others.
The Knight is a powerhouse of force. By merely walking onto the battlefield the opposition will cower in fear, and those around him are encouraged. Knights wear only bronze, full, or field plate armor. Knights incur no speed penalties due to wearing these armors or any other. The Knight wields large weapons during two-handed combat and medium weapons when dual-wielding. Dual wielded weapons grants the Knight two attacks per round.
During their academic years the Knight learns the spiritual science of healing. A Knight can Cure Light Wounds: 9 HP 4 times per day as spell (5 segments), Cure Serious Wounds: 17 HP twice per day as spell (7 segments), Cure Disease: As spell once per day (6 segments)
Turn Undead
A Knight turns undead as a Cleric. 3d6 undead are turned at 1st level. Any Undead creatures of 5 HD or below the Knight’s level are destroyed (i.e. A 6th level Knight will destroy 3d6, 1 HD, Undead). For undead creatures less than 5 levels difference from the Knight are turned and flee for 10 full rounds, and characters receive a +2 attack bonus when attacking these creatures. Note: The creatures only flee from the presence of the Knight who turned them—they will attack/defend themselves from other characters.
Monk
Base Skills:
• Lethal hand-to-hand combat
• Multiple Hand-To-Hand attacks per round (2 initially, 1 additional every 3 rounds)
• Stun/Kill (1d3 rounds)
• +3 to attack and damage with Quarterstaff
• +4 to all grapple checks
• Immune to ESP and other mind attacks & probes
• Speak to plants & animal at 3rd Lvl (as Druid)
• Immune to all diseases at 5th Lvl
• Immune to Haste & Slow spells at 5th Lvl
• Self induce Catalepsy at 6th Level (2 x Lvl Turns, once per day)
• Self Healing at 7th Level [1d4+1 hp + 1 hp/lvl thereafter] (once per day)
• 50% Resistance to Beguiling, charms, hypnosis, and suggestion spells at 9th Lvl
• Quivering Palm at 9th Lvl (once per week—equates to once per adventure)
• Telepathic & Mind Blast at 10th Lvl
• Immune to poisons at 11th Lvl
Prime Attributes: DEX, CON, STR
Hit Points: 9
Weapon Allowance: Light, Medium
Armor Allowance: None
Description:
As a monastic aesthetic, the Monk is a master of their body and mind. A Monk spends years focusing their body and mind into a weapon of steel. They tend to be loners but often travel with other adventurers to hone and improve their skills in the real world. Like the Knight, a Monk has a personal devotion to those in need. Typically Monks come from a troubled or broken background. Most Monks have lost their families to one form of evil or another.
A Monk never wears armor and prefers his fists to weapons. They will employ light or medium weapons from time to time though. They gain a +3 to attacks and damage with the quarterstaff ad a +4 to all grapple checks.
When it comes to hand-to-hand combat, the Monk rules all. A Monk begins at 1st level making three (2) hand-to-hand attacks per round and gains an additional attack every three (3) rounds thereafter. Each successful hit by a Monk does 1d4 points of damage beginning at 1st level adding 1d2 every two rounds thereafter (i.e. 1d4 @ 3rd lvl, 1d6 @ 6th lvl, etc.). A successful hit by five or more points will render an opponent stunned for 1d3 rounds. Successful hits of ten (10) or more points have a 50% chance of killing the opponent.
Quivering Palm
One of the Monks most feared and deadly abilities is the Quivering Palm move. This is a series of moves, that if performed flawlessly (successful to-hit roll), will cause a shuddering vibration (similar to a mild seizure) to spread throughout the opponent’s body (humanoid creatures only. The opponent becomes immobilized for three (3) rounds. A touch to any of three pressure points, within the three rounds, will cause instant death. If the Monk takes no action, the opponent will be freed from the vibrations after three (3) rounds.
Knight
Base Skills:
