Severi, Elf

Severi nods thoughtfully, and attempts to creep up on the door, hoping to cast a sleep spell through the gap and take the inhabitants by surprise.

Thurgan motions for the party to be silent (finger to the lips) and readies his sword and shield.

Severi cautiously approaches the door, peering through into the darkened room beyond. He beholds perhaps a dozen or so orcs, standing around in a rough circle, cheering and shouting as two animals tear and claw at one another in the center of the circle. The room appears to be large, although Severi is unable to ascertain any additional information about either the room, the orcs or the animals without either more light or attempting to go further into the room.

Severi, Elf

Severi is deeply torn between his bloodlust, and his gambling addiction, and briefly contemplates seeing whether the orcs would allow him to place a bet. He then decides to try and take their money the old-fashioned way, and casts a spell of sleeping.

Shaking off the urge to stake a flutter on the outcome, Severi intones the words to his spell of somnolence. Unfortunately, in this instance his incantation proves somewhat impotent, as only two of the orcs fall to the ground, insensate. The others look around wildly before spotting the elf in the doorway. They look ready to attack.
Okay guys, actions please!

Severi, Elf

Severi makes the most universally-applicable obscene gesture in his vocabulary, and retreats from the door.
Hopefully they burst out of the doorway, expecting just one elf.

Anohir, Priest

Anohir steps back some ways as Severi darts back, and prepares to fire his sling at anything with tusks or a pig's nose that comes out of the door.

Aquar, cleric

The curate of Procan positions himself to the side of the doorway, to allow the archers to fire but also to gain a flank attack advantage in striking emerging orcs with Fury's Fist. He contemplates use of his Hold Person spell, but waits on the results of the physical attacks.

Mursley, mu

Mursley holds back his sleep spell, waiting for the the results of the archers. He moves back to avoid any future melee and give the archers enough space to fire and uses his sling on the emerging orcs

Round One

Seeing that his Sleep spell was ineffective, Severi turns to flee, but before he is able to take a step two streaks of brown race from the fighting pit towards him! Severi beholds two shrew-like creatures, the size of dogs, before him. Just before they reach the elf the two giant shrews launch themselves from the ground and leap through the air towards him! The alert elf has the presence of mind to duck, and both shrews miss their target, but Severi is so unnerved at the sight of such vicious creatures that he turns on his heels and runs!

Those standing outside see Severi lurch out of the way of some unknown attack before turning and sprinting away from the building, ignoring all attempts to hail him. From within the building can be heard the raucous sounds of orcish laughter.
Note that I am using the giant shrew statistics from p. 95 of the basic Labyrinth Lord book. These are some badass little dudes, I've got to say. Some orc tribes have wolves, this tribe has trained shrews. According to the description, a failed save v. death means those with 3 HD or less flee. I'm going to say it functions as a lesser version of the Cause Fear spell, and that those failing will flee in terror at max speed for 2d4 rounds.

Um, is anyone taking any actions (other than Severi). As of the end of Round One, the orcs have not emerged from the building. Note that the door is, as on now, only opened wide enough to allow a single person through at a time.

Aquar, to the side of the door, lights an oil. He holds it up for others outside to see, demonstrating intention. He hopes it will drive the orcs out to receive the party's attack. The cleric throws it in and backs up to the right.

Rhys the Traveler

"Well... that hardly went as expected."

He then does what they should have done the first time and begins circling the building, looking for another method of ingress.
