Niles, Fighter. in the tavern,

With the new silver he earned, Niles will buy an ale and one for anyone else who accompanies him to the tavern. he will also purchase a meat pie since this is his first hot meal for some time. while eating he will strike up a conversation with anyone around.

"So I hear there are issues with orcs and goblins around here. and, what's this I hear about some caves of chaos. who around here can I talk to that can get us directions there? or are all these things just stories to keep the locals scared?"

An old man sitting at a stool by the fire overhears you & answers with a drunken slur.
They are not fables boy. Two days ago a caravan was ambushed by Hobgoblins and only one guard escaped. The others are dead, or held prisoner...or worse...

Niles, fighter. in the Tavern.

Niles perks up with excitement. finally his chance to become a here is upon him, or so he thinks. "Really, do you know where this guard is? I would like to buy him a drink, too. what are you having old timer so can get you another one"

Niles will buy him a drink for his time.

He points at a table where several rough looking types are talking to a thin man with red cloak.

Fingal, Human Thief -- In the Tavern with Niles

Fingal sits and drinks with Niles as the boisterous man chats with the locals, pleased to have a generous companion. After the elder patron answers the fighter's inquiry about orc and goblin Fingal interjects, "Did no one go for the missing?"

Fingal, Human Thief -- In the Tavern with Niles

Fingal drops a couple of gold to the barmaid. "Some honey-mead for the three of us", he says motioning to Niles and the old man.

The old man takes a drink.Its only been two days. The soldiers don't like to leave these high walls unless the Castellan sends them. Everyone thinks they are dead, so no rescue party is going. No one goes to the Caves of Chaos, except the brave or the foolhardy.

Cailte Cadwallon, Halfling

Cailte walks into the Tavern and makes his way to the bar, once he can get the attention of someone who works there he orders a pint of beer. Preferably something stout. He pays upon receiving the drink than makes his way over to where Fingal is sitting. He waits for a pause in the conversation where he may introduce himself without being rude.

"Pardon sir," He says to Fingal, "but I heard mention of the Caves of Chaos. I have an interest in that place..."

When you call upon Trithereon and touch his brow, his eyes light up, the weariness leaves his face.
He gasps.
uh......no charge my Lord....
He calls for a servant. A young boy appears & leads you to a private room. A fine meal follows shortly.

Foracor the Elf / Tavern

After the quick tour of town and chapel Foracor returns to the tavern with the clerics. Recognizing fellow caravan travelers, he joins the halfling, fighter and cloaked human at a table.

"Aye, these Caves of Chaos sound worthy of investigation. Is there a reward for rescuing any survivors?

Fingal, Human Thief

Fingal motions to the open seats at the table as the halfling and elf wander near, "There has been much strange talk under this roof". He takes a mouthful of mead and draws his sleeve across his mouth afterwards and continues, "That one there, in the fish armor with the hammer", he says while gesturing at Niles, "seems to be onto something".

Cailte Cadwallon, Halfling

To Fingal, "In truth, it was tales of the 'caves that brought me to this place."

Cailte nods and smiles to the others at the table then continues; "Perhaps we could organize an expedition to see what all the fuss is about?"

Brother Bayard, Human Cleric

After enjoying his meal with thanks to Trithereon, Brother Bayard introduces himself to those maintaining the chapel to St. Cuthbert and joins the others of his company at the tavern.

This large stone building is simple & unadorned on the outside, you hardly believe it is a church. The double doors open into a large worshipping area with many pews. At one end is a large statue of the saint himself, and altar & a poor box.

Three robed & hooded men move about cleaning & polishing.

One of the Acolytes that is cleaning, points to his mouth & shakes his head. You think its a vow of silence. He waits to see if you need anything.

There is much talk of treasure in the "Caves" areas. Rumored reward for rescued prisoners is 100 gold coins each.

Niles thanks Fingal for the drink. and, as the conversation goes on, once he hears about the 100gp reward, he perks up even more.

"So if there is a reward, we need to find out how to get there. Ill ask the others." with that, Niles will walk over to the other table and ask. '

The man with the cape, looks tired & battered. The other three look like mercenaries, or adventurers. One is a thin wiry man with leather armor. The other is huge, tall & broad, the largest man you have ever seen. The last man is a warrior dressed in chainmail with a two-handed sword strapped to his back.

The man with the cape, who escaped from the caravan raid , glances up.
I can draw you a map, but I need some coin.

Albertus Magnu, Human Cleric

Albertus, stays behind and helps a few of the elderly. in the merchant caravan, that have taken to illness. He watches as the rest of the adventures head off toward the Keep. Albertus, seeing that the fevors have broke and the elderly man and woman feel better packs his bags and heads to the Keeps door.

He looks up and notices the two guards perched long the entrance of the Keep."Greetings, up there! I am called Albertus... a priest in training. My duties call me to cleanse the lands of evil, helping those in need, and convert those that survive to the will of god. My I enter your Keep and see what assistance I may offer?"

ooc...If allowed to enter he fist makes his way to the local chapel. While there he will donate a few copper and introduce himself to the cleric. Asking him for advice and what evils this Keep and its locals. Instead of getting a room in the tavern. He will ask the cleric for bed and breakfast within the chapel itself. He will offer his services around the chapel and help out any means needed.
