Are Brothers Bayard and Abin and Marda at the Temple of St. Cuthbert, or have they made their way back to the tavern with Foracor and Fingal?
You tell me. Some players arent putting their location at the top of the post with name/class. If you are going to the Chapel then to the Tavern, give me a chance to post action. Take one action at a time ,so you have a chance to talk, act at that location before you jump to the next.
Not directed at you, but in general.
Its difficult when 10 characters split up. Lol.

We have 9 players, two others didn't reply. 8 is still a good size party.

3 Clerics
1 Magic-user
1 Elf
1 Thief
1 Dwarf
1 Fighter
1 Halfling

Characters look good.
You have two or three more days to get a picture & background up to get the 200 XP bonus. (that's a lot of dead Orcs)

Things to think about with 9 players.
Perhaps a party leader is in order?
Marching order?
Light sources?

Not a huge amount of excitement at the Keep. Its more of a home base. Plenty of adventure outside though.
It may be a bit slow now, gathering info, meeting people at the Keep, getting a room at the Inn, etc.
But when you are ready, you may go anywhere. You have a map!

Great job on the rumor round-up GrognardSW.

+25XP

Let us consider the rumors we have heard:

Caves
- A powerful Wizard lives in the Caves of Chaos and destroys all intruders.
- The evil cult in caves is said to have undead guardians.
- There are Orcs, Goblins and the like in great numbers in the caves.
- A beautiful maiden is lost in the caves, but she suffers from a terrible curse.
- There is also said to be a maze near the caves where you lose all sense of direction once inside. A huge flesh-eating beastman dwells there. The maze is rumored to hold a great treasure.
- 100gp reward for each person rescued

Woods
- There are giant spiders in the woods, almost as big as a horse.
- There is a mad hermit who lives in the woods.
- There are tribes of big dog-men & little dog-men.
- An Elf disappeared traveling south by the marshes.

I have to admit, I am partial to getting to the caves because I have heard so many tales across the message boards about it. However, as I said in the IC thread, lets have a look for that elf as we cross near the swamp.

Anyone think we need porters or hirelings? As suggested in the start we can have someone to keep watch at night and mind the mules outside the cave. Since I switched to thief I have a lot of excess cash to get us started.

I think we'd need quite a few hirelings to have them safe while we were in the caves, unless we are just dashing in and out a lot.
I'm good with going after any of those hooks, I bet we run into quite a few of the forest things on our way to the caves, regardless.

A horse is 40gp, a mule 30gp. A hireling, porter, torchbearer- might be quite a few gold to go into a dangerous area & stay overnight.

If a backpack carries 40 pounds/400 coins and you each have one (or sacks,etc)-there will be 8-9 of you. That's a lot of coins.
From the map, you can see its a days journey from the Keep.

We don't have the coin for animals or hirelings, which is why I thought the Keep master should be approached to lend us some since it's in his interest that we succeed, from the vantage of rescuing his people, gaining treasure tax and clearing out the evil.

Probaly not going to happen. Think about it. A group of strangers arrive at the Keep and want animals, equipment, hirelings. You can try. But might go over a lot better once you prove yourselves.
