The battle is quickly upping in tempo towards a crescendo as the dozen or so Imperials open fire on the Rebel escapees; who are returning fire at their would-be executioners....

Caius fires at an Imperial setting up across the shaft at a window for a crossfire attack and just barely manages to miss his target. The Imperial fires back and his shot burns a scorch mark into the side of his newly acquired Stormtrooper armor but fails to penetrate. Out of the corner of his eye Caius sees a quartet of Stormtroopers have taken up a firing position at the other end of the bridge and they open fire on him and Mattel who stands next to him; a pair at each of the Rebels. A blaster bolt whips between the two Rebels and another blows out a chunk of the floor right between Caius' feet....

Next to the former Pirate; Lord opens fire on yet another Imperial setting up for a crossfire attack and drills his opponent in the face; dropping him to the deck and out of sight. The one-time Bounty Hunter grins and turns back to face the quartet of Stormtroopers across the bridge and his grin fades fast as they open fire and one of the bolts drills him high on the right side of his chest*. He staggers back a step and curses in pain as a detached part of his brain thanks whatever Deities might be out there that another blaster bolt that zips millimeters past his head didn't connect. The situation was getting bad....really bad....

Grey puts a second bolt from his Carbine into the Stormtrooper he had wounded before and this time has the pleasure of watching him plummet off the narrow walkway bridge into the control core shaft; but that pleasure doesn't last as he looks up to see three more Stormtroopers taking up positions and firing with their own carbines. Two of them shoot at him and one shot blows out a section of the deck next to his prone position while the second scorches a tear through the right shoulder of his uniform and leaves a graze along his upper arm right where the bicep meets the shoulder socket. Things were definitely NOT looking good to the former Imperial Scout....

Terra; after calling out the Imperial intention to move men into crossfire positions across the shaft; took aim at one of those same Imperials and fired a shot that hit her target flush in the chest; leaving him slumped half hanging out of the window and not moving. Her grim glee at the success of her shot was short lived as blaster bolt from one of the three stormtroopers across the bridge on the other side of Grey and her lanced into her side drawing a howl of pain and a most un-lady-like curse**....

At that moment; in the center of the platform Walex Blissex suddenly calls out; "I've done it! The shaft can now be used as a Turboshaft; all we have to do is jum-"; but his words are cut off as a blaster bolt from the last Imperial who had moved into a crossfire position drilled the old Engineer in the back with a shot***. Blissex fell forward into the computer controls and then staggered back and fell into the shaft. La'Reth; acting more on instinct or perhaps subconsciously guided by the Force; immediately leaped after the Engineer and soon grabbed ahold of the unconscious Rebel as the two slowly fell/floated down the shaft....

*Lord is now wounded and at -1D for all actions

***Blissex is Incapacitated

Not the most linguistically educated person, Terra nonetheless fires off a string of curses in about seven different languages as her body rocks from the blast. She looks quickly at the scene, looking for any possible machinery or other objects that would, if struck by a blaster bolt, provide an explosion that would (hopefully) incapacitate as many opponents as possible...

((OOC: Perception check, please. Also...am I rememberingright that Terra has a blaster AND a carbine? If so, she might be tossing a homemade bomb...))

Damn, we're in a tight spot!

La'Reth will shift his body weight in order to get under the incapacitated engineer in an effort to cushion the impact of the fall, if there is to be any. To himself he utters a phrase taught to him by his master, Remove your fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

Caius shouts, "Jump?"

*Realizing I am the only one not yet hit, I start doing my best to provide as much cover fire as I can! Shooting at both groups of attackers, planning to follow the others once they are clear... As I shoot, I try making my way to the best cover I achieve.... should I notice (perception) something that could be used to my advantage (perhaps shooting something above a group so it comes down on them) I'll try a shot at that as well*

Quick, get clear you guys... I'll occupy them, then I'll follow.................... hopefully.

Caius leaps into the turbo shaft!

The action in the Power Core shaft is coming to a climax as La'Reth 'swims' through the air and gathers Blissex's unconscious form into his arms while slowly half-falling/half-floating down to the bottom of the shaft. The landing is a bit awkward and the sudden weight of Walex causes his legs to buckle; but he is able to catch himself and haul the badly-wounded Engineer towards a door on the wall of the shaft; noting the bodies of a couple of stomtroopers littering the nearby area....

Terra; her side still aching from her blaster wound; is suddenly inspired with a desperate plan. She hurls the blaster pistol she had taken from the Security Guards way back when the breakout from the detention block occurred due to the sudden power-loss directly at the Stormtroopers across from her and then she takes a shot with her Blaster Carbine. Her bolt lances into the thrown Pistol and sets off its nearly depleted power pack. The resulting explosion is much less than had hoped for; but it does succeed in forcing all 3 of the Imperial Stormtroopers to duck and cringe away from the blast and most importantly; NOT fire on her and Greystarr. Her feral grin of triumph is short-lived however as one of the Stormtroopers in a cross-fire position fires a bolt that hits her in the back of her shoulder*. Her world fades into darkness as she falls into unconsciousness and she inadvertently imitates Walex with a collapse off the edge of the platform and into the Power Core shaft...

Greystarr is about to open up with some cover fire from his blaster when he notes Terra hurling a blaster pistol and then shooting it and utilizing the small blast to occupy the attention of the Stomtroopers immediately across from them. Her plan works; but he is dismayed to see her take a shot from one of the Imperials in a cross-fire position and plummet off the edge of the platform. His face twists a bit in anger and he opens up with his carbine at the Trooper who shot Terra and has the satisfaction of watching his shot drop his opponent. Glancing over the edge he sees the strange sight of the female Rebel's unconscious form slowly floating down towards the floor of the shaft. He's reasonably confident that he could 'swim' his way down to her before she hits the bottom and a quick glance over at the 3 stormtroopers sees them shaking off the effects of the Rebel pilot's impromptu 'bomb' attack....

On the opposite side of the platform; Caius ducks under a near-miss shot from one of the Imperials in a crossfire position and then sees the quartet of Stormtroopers about to open fire at him and Lord and having seen the Bothan and Blissex slowly floating down the Power Core shaft; he quickly grasps that the old man was indeed able to enact his plan to turn the Power Core into an improvised turbolift shaft. Calling out a quick "Jump!" to Lord; the one-time Pirate leaps over the side just as a pair of Blaster bolts lance through the space he had just occupied a second before....

Lord; out of the corner of his eye; sees La'Reth leap out into the shaft and gather the badly wounded form of Walex Blissex into his arms and slowly 'float' down towards the bottom of the Power Core. Hearing his fellow escapee call out "Jump!"; he decides that's probably a wise choice and with one last shot that hits a Stormtrooper flush in the chest; he jumps over the side and avoids a return shot from one of the Stormtroopers' fellows**...


*Terra is now Incapacitated

**Vargr; my apologies for taking control of your character; but as I wanted to update the scene with everyone having taken an action and knowing that you control the most martial of the PCs; I didn't want to have Lord do nothing; so I took what I thought might be the most reasonable actions available to him and which I believe might have been the actions you yourself might have chosen. If you had something much different in mind; please let me know and I will edit this post!

Struck by another blaster bolt, Terra hardly even has the time to utter an emphatic "Kark!" before her world turns shades of black and grey.

In the farthest recesses of her mind, she seems to feel herself falling; it is like dreams she had as a child, when she was first learning to pilot ships. She vaguely remembers them having been explained long ago as a subconscious fear of failure; but then whatever part of her brain is still engaged wonders why the thought has crossed her mind at this point.

Her very dim perception still shows her falling for what seems an interminable length of time, slowly drifting down, down, down...

(Okay....it's been a week and a half and only Jedi Skyler has posted....everybody still here? My apologies for briefly taking control of your characters; but I need to keep the game moving)


Greystarr decides it's 'Now or never' and leaps out into the shaft and begins to 'swim' his way towards the unconscious Terra. By kicking and stroking his arms hard he's able to get into position to wrap her up in his arms shortly before the y land gently on the bottom of the shaft. Looking around he sees Lord and Caius are on the floor as well and all quickly notice the open door and the Bothan waving them towards a room.

La'Reth had quickly pressed the door opening control button on the panel next to the door and was relieved to find that the door had not been locked. Taking a quick gander; he saw that the room was a supply room; filled with all manner of emergency equipment including half-a-dozen medpacs; plenty of rations and numerous other bits of survival gear such as thermal blankets and sleeping shelters. The Bothan set down Walex's unconscious form against the wall and then stepped back out into the shaft to check on his fellow Rebels. Seeing them 'float' down to the floor he beckoned them over; his concern growing as he sees the wounded status of most of his fellow; including the badly hurt Terra....

La'Reth will take this opportunity to diagnose the engineer and perhaps revive him recalling the training he received in patient care.

*Grey Starr takes up position at the door we came through to take out likely followers* It would be best if we get moving soon... I dread the idea getting caught in the middle like that again!

Terra, on the very edge of consciousness, but having slipped well past the realm of making sense, starts babbling softly, incoherently. "Womp rats gotta eat," she mutters, her eyes rolling back into her head.

La'Reth shall also examine his companions and give them aid as required.

Caius lets his more gravely wounded companions have their wounds treated first.
Meanwhile, he sorts through the supplies, setting out all that is, or might be, of use.
He keeps an eye out especially for any rucksacks or similar containers, and once he finds one or more he will start loading the useful gear into them so that each ruck has a blanket, a shelter, rations, and any medical supplies that remain.
Once the seriously wounded are attended to, he will have his wounds looked at.
