Denslow suggests Let’s move on. We still have plenty of daylight.

He watches warily hoping to keep a move on.

Max investigates the clearing, looking for evidence of recent bivouacs. He’s looking for anything “interesting” and to see how often this area might be used, if discoverable by him.

The majority favors waiting here until morning, so I'll proceed with this decision.

The rat heads peer around the area as Drakshar moves in, trying to find a place which might seem defensible for them to spend the night.
He also looks for any signs of recent presence of other travelers.
My idea was to first look for signs of passage, tracks, clues from previous travellers, etc. Before making a decision whether to spend the night or not.

The Jag Oru Coast 57D/82 (Mid Morning)

Your initial search yields nothing useful, only fragments of discarded pottery and bits of unidentifiable scrap metal. The site appears abandoned for weeks, crisscrossed with small vermin tracks.

Drakshar observes that the entire 50x50-foot clearing has a well-defended perimeter on all sides, except for a 10-foot-wide entry gap. The jumbled combination of stones and palisade stands at an average height of four feet.

Outside the confines of the site, a few narrow trails wind into the jungle, each wide enough for a person to pass through unobstructed.

Barry

"Which way now?"

Barry sniffs around for any signs of passage down any of the trails.

Drakshar

@Norjax - apart from these small trails, there should also be a 'main' one, right? Which caravans might use?

The fortified camp site is off the side of the main route.

Drakshar

"Yep, that seems to be the main one" - the rat agreed, one head nodding while the other responded - "If we are looking for traders, that one makes sense" - he added.

"But in the daylight I would like to check the smaller trails - curious about who or what might have caused them"

Drakshar wants to look for tracks on the smaller trails, signs if anyone passed recently, or if someone got dragged into the jungle :O

Drakshar explores the narrow trails branching from the camp clearing. These paths, though prepared, are not intended for frequent travel and are crisscrossed with the unremarkable vermin tracks.

He finds no evidence of recent activity.

Drakshar

"You're right - I was getting ahead of myself" - Drakshar's nodded, while the slightly less feral head looked with a scowl at the other one - "Lets rest here tonight"

The Jag Oru Coast 58D/82 (Afternoon)

After spending the night at the wayside, you set out again the next morning. As the day progresses, you become aware of the jungle growing eerily silent, as if something has driven away or wiped out every living creature nearby. A distant rumbling fills the air, resembling thunder, yet the sky remains clear of storm clouds. The sound steadily grows louder, drawing closer with each passing moment.

Then, Denslow catches sight of a dark shape hovering above the treetops, about a mile away, moving directly toward you.

Drakshar

"Maybe whatever it is, has not spotted us yet" - one head whispers - "Let's hide" - the other adds, as the manrat tries to find a hiding place.
