Into the Woods! 6/23 [Tinu, Morvith, Ferd & Robin]

There are 16 coins, none with familiar faces, symbols, designs or writing on them. Four coins are gold, 11 are silver, and one is neither gold, silver, or copper. The odd coin is silvery white (almost silver, but not quite) and thicker, and heavier, than either the gold or silver coins. No secret compartments.

The old bag splits and falls apart as Robin pokes at it revealing several stones inside. He recognizes 3 diamonds and 2 stones that he thinks are rubies, but there are 4 more that look more like little rocks or pebbles than anything else to his eyes.

Robin sorted through the coins and gems. He particularly examined the four ordinary looking rocks. "Hey Morvith or anyone, do these rocks look special? I think this one coin may be particularly valuable."

To Robin, the faces on the coins remind him of the pictures he's seen of Gnomes in some of the old books in the Jesselton library. None specifically ring a bell for him though.

Ferd purses his lips, studying the faces and markings of the coins, puzzling them out against his knowledge of past kingdoms and their tales.

In his illicit career, though, he has some experience at appraisal. He considers the rocks and special coin.

Ferd thinks Gnome or Dwarf from the faces...certainly not human or elf. The 'special coin' is platinum, if he's not mistaken. He doesn't know of any kingdoms that use it for legal tender. The rocks, though, are raw gems, of that he is sure. Precious or semi-precious he isn't sure. He thinks they are rubies, but can't be sure until they are polished and cut

"Platinum and raw gemstones, for sure," Ferd says, looking hungrily at the entrance, "...as gnome legal tender? Just laying about? Perhaps we don't wait to check it out?"

OOC: Both the area at the bottom of the canyon and the Gnome's cave you just found are good finds for further exploration and adventure if you choose to do so. If you "update" the map back at the Guild Hall the group that comes back to explore this area could be combinations of any of the Guild members (y'all and/or others). Jesselton would make a good base of operations for those ventures as well.

Morvith shakes out an empty sack and gets to work as well, casting glances toward the doorway from time to time.

It is a warm late spring day, sunny, with little breeze. What breeze there is carries the scent of wild flowers growing in the open fields around the grove in this valley. Under the shade of the grove it is cooler and you have had about as pleasant a time collecting herbs and such as is possible.

It's only a little past mid-day when you finish filling the 6 sacks you brought with you. The grazers in the open fields west of you have migrated toward and then around the grove where you are working keeping their distance warily. They won't be in your way if you head back the way you came to the trail leading to Jesselton.

Good point about repairing the lock. Robin left behind his lantern and rope so he could carry three sacks and food. Since he ate his food he has one free slot to use for the box.
