In the same spirit, I actually wouldn't mind using a "the motion has been moved and seconded" approach for the most basic of decisions (like whether to open the left door or the right door when all else is equal), and save the "full 5-person-majority votes" for the more important group decisions. Since there are a lot of us, this might help the game to progress more smoothly (especially now while we are basically crawling from room to room in this tower). Using this approach, any one of us could move or second a motion on the very basic decisions so that TK does not have to wait for 5 people to post "Joe agrees with Jim", but rather can post the next IC post whenever he is ready.

What do you all think?

I'm fine with this as long as it's actually for the basic decisions.

Same.

I've actually been doing this already for minor stuff.

Ok cool, I think we are on the same page about this, I had just wanted to stress the point that smaller consensuses for minor decisions are generally ok with me if they are needed to move along the game.

@Tratiln: Irregular shaped maps are a bitch to draw and a bitch to describe. When I get to work tomorrow I'll scan and upload the first two floors, so you can get an idea of what they look like.

@everyone: back to the room on the right?

Okay, there are votes all over the place. If I can boil it down as follows:
1)Do nothing about the stirges for the moment and continue to explore.
2)Open the door to one of the two rooms and engage them from the hallway.
3)Open the door to one or both rooms and attempt to lure them into the windowless room.

I would like you guys to reach a consensus on this question within 24 hours, please.

So by my count (if I understood correctly):

"blocking the doorway" approach:
Thordin, Marodin, Lanny

"manage the flow using doors" approach:
Bregalad, Meagnor, Drudsa

use Sleep with one of the above approaches:
Tratiln

leave them alone and move on:
Saul

To address Bregalad's concern, Lanny in ok with abandoning missile fire in favor of all melee weapons (with Lanny and Meagnor in metal armor ready to protect the less armored). I mentioned having Bregalad and Tratiln behind Thordin and Marodin so that (1) Bregalad could use his spear over Thordin's head if needed, and (2) so that Tratiln could actually see into the room (to be able to cast his Sleep spell at the right moment, when enough stirges have gathered). I think per the DD Rulebook spellcasters are required to actually be able to see their intended targets. Plus, that way, Tratiln would not accidentally put any party members to sleep.

By the way, I know I've asked a lot of questions about the doors in this tower, but here is one more: How tall are the doors? I am imagining that they are man-sized and that the likelihood that any of the stirges would actually have room to fly over the heads of Marodin, or even the petite Thordin, would probably be pretty slim (assuming the front line holds its ground).

Yeah, this is something that is never addressed anywhere, as far as I can see. So, let us make the broad assumption that, unless I state otherwise, every door you will ever encounter anywhere shall be 5' wide and 8' tall, thusly allowing two people side by side to hold an opening.

So then I would think that it would be pretty hard for them to get over Marodin's head... Possibly they could get over Thordin's head, but hopefully just one at a time if any, so that should make for a manageable load for the rest of us to deal with on a round-by-round basis. I think this would achieve the same basic result of using the opening and closing of the doors to manage the flow of the stirges, plus it would also allow Tratiln the option of trying to take them all out at once with a sleep spell.

Hey guys, I'm at work right now and I can't read and reply IC cause it's very busy here now. Just want to let you know that I had connection problems yesterday and I'll be up again tonight.

Hmm. Must be a busy weekend for everyone. If possible, I'd like to have everyone's intentions in by tomorrow afternoon (east coast US).

I will be rolling out the next round of combat tomorrow morning east coast US time. Please get your intentions in by then, if you would like your character to act.

Just an FYI, starting tomorrow I am traveling for business and my posting may be spotty until Friday. Thordin will go with the majority of the group, and if a tie-breaker is necessary, whichever allows him to protect his comrades.
