The riders don't stop to visit, likely another random pair headed to the Keep for Market Day in the morning.

Once the group gets to the side of the road and heads into the wilderness, they light a torch to look around for tracks. A clear and distinct path is worn into the grass in that area, and it heads directly towards the distant river.

Bugs then lowers his voice. "Do you think we should call out? Or would that be bad?" He offers one of the leads to carry the torch if they want.

He tries to remember the location and determine if this path is going correctly.

There are many predators on the prowl for food right now and I don’t want to be the main dish! He thinks maybe that wasn’t the best thing to say…

The sound of the flowing river gets louder as the group make their way along the trampled path.

Frogs, crickets, birds, and mosquitos can all be heard in the darkness beyond your torches.

Care must be taken to watch your footing out here in the wilderness, as rocks and roots stick up out of the ground in many places.

Just before you reach the intended area at the river, a loud commotion is heard, sounding like the hoofbeats of several animals rushing away at the same time.

He pauses and stops short. "What was that?!" Bugs furiously whispers.

Bugs tries to spot the eyes reflecting the torch light.

"Probably animals, but we should check what frightened them off."

"Sounds like deer or something, running away from something.

Keya sniffs for sign of fire and looks for any color bloom and tries to get a bearing on where and what direction the 'herd' is heading.

He peers in the direction where the commotion is coming from and quietly says, “I’m not the most outdoorsy dwarf, but they’re probably running from us! He keeps walking toward the river.

The unseen animals outside of your torchlight rush off in a southern direction. The sound of splashing in shallow water can be heard next for a moment, as if the animals had a ford to cross nearby. Their hoofbeats eventually abate somewhere to the south after crossing the river.

The group finds three or four obvious sitting spots along the bank of the river, likely where your quarry has sat and fished in the past. There are no signs of malfeasance or of a struggle anywhere along this side of the waterway.

Looking into the water with your light source, several fish can be seen swimming upstream, along with frogs, tadpoles, crawfish, and other aquatic species who normally come out after dark.

I suppose I should ask who actually has a torch in their hand at the moment.

Rida has a lantern.

Not a fisherman but one of Rida's secondary skills is Trapper. Does he notice anything that might indicate a trail/animal trail they may have followed further along?

There is no game trail to be found, but there are deer prints in the soft mud at the shoreline. They move towards the south, and eventually stop at what appears to be a narrow ford where the river is fairly shallow for a short distance.
