Boff picks up a large lighter colored rock from the side of the hill and starts scratching the dwarven ruin for DANGER upon it.

He leaves the rock in an obvious to see spot alongside the road at the bottom of the hill to warn the patrol they saw earlier.

Then he and Franny join the others at the top of the hill.

"Probably smelt Franny n' me comin. Giants an dwarves don't really get on well, ya know."

With no sign of danger around the immediate vicinity, Boff suggests they keep traveling.

Androgost

Nodding during the ensuing conversation: Let's continue to the top. Time is of the essence, I don't want to try to second guess the individuals intention and defending from a higher point might offer some advantage.

Qleceec, continue to lead the ascent. Androgost will drop to the rear of the group while they continue to watch their rear.

Nah Olos mounts up, but keeps his bastard in hand, using one hand to holds the reigns of the horse. He signals those behind him to do the same, and once everyone is mounted, he heads up the road, looking around as he goes.

Siouxsie

We could just go around the hill if it borders their territory. Ideally she would prefer not to get into a fight with giants, or anyone else (bar brawls aside).

She calls out in Hill Giantish, just in case it may still be close by.

Entering the Jotens - False Alarm?
10 AM Freeday, 7th day of Planting, 597

Qleceec (AC 1, HP 63/63)
Nah (AC 4, HP 53/53)
Siouxsie (AC 2, HP 48/48)
Garrant (AC 8, HP 50/50) Shield
Boff (AC 5, HP 61/61)
Franny (AC 4, HP 26/26)
Hex (AC 0, HP 27/27)
Raffi (AC -1, HP 21/21)
Androgost (AC -6, HP 65/65)

Qleceec, Siouxsie and Androgost are unable to find additional signs of the hill giants other than those previously mentioned. Boff takes a few moments to carve danger in dwarven into a rock and place it easy for the upcoming dwarves to see. The group with Nah, Garrant, Boff, Franny, Hex and Raffi catch up with the lead group. The entire party is at the relative "top" with the rocks and the alternative trail.

Siouxsie calls out again in hill giant, but there is no reply. The group agrees to continue on with Androgost moving to the rear guard position.

With the Hill Giant(s) safely in the rear view mirror, the party continues to travel up and down the hills. In the afternoon, as the shadows grow every longer Qleceec finds a reasonable place to camp for the night. There is no running water, but there is a small circle of trees that will provide some protection from the elements and a reasonable amount of dead wood for a fire.

If the group would like to rest for the night what would the watches be? If spellcasters are on the middle watch, this will increase time in camp.

If not, what other actions would you like to perform?

Androgost

Stretching after the long day. I'll take the last watch.

Androgost will busy himself checking his and his comrades mounts for any sign of issues.

Nah Olos "I'll take middle, as usual. We do three or four watch turns?"

Before settling down to eat he ties his horse to a near tree, then wanders out and circles the camp, looking around as he goes.

perception rolls - setting up camp, and later on watch
set snares 16
survival 14

Hex puts out his four stones enchanted with magic mouth spells at the four compass points so they overlap each other at the forty feet mark.

Raffi is happy to take any watch needed. Hex is also not worried about which watch, given he still has all his spells in mind.

Siouxsie

"Great. You do first watch, you last, you others in the middle. I'll ... err ... make breakfast in the morning."

What she does though, in order to camouflage our camp from creatures and wandering groups is to cast Hallucinatory Forest, which could create a 40'ft square per level, (so 9 squares worth), centred on the present copse that is also warded in the corners by the four Magic Mouth stones enchanted by Hex.

Knowing our camp is surrounded by illusion, we can see out through the ruse but those looking in, unless a druid or centaur, would consider it actual forested land.

Garrant raises an eyebrow

"I must use that one next time I want to avoid a watch." he grins

I don't know about Siouxsie, but Garrant has the cooking proficiency, which would common knowledge in the group.

Qleceec

Qleceec can probably throw something in for the pot and help with getting the fire going as she has Fire Building, Foraging, Hunting, and Survival.

The dwarves take care to watch behind the group as they travel away from the supposed ambush site, just in case the big dumbs are actually stupid enough to follow their group of dangerous spell casters.

Once camp has been established, Boff cares for the horses before eating something hot and turning in for the night.

"Any order is fine with me n Franny."

Androgost

Approaches Hex: Quite ingenious, I have been in many field encampments that could have benefited from those.

Nods is approval seeing Siouxsie drape the camp in confusion.

Feeds his mount, gathers firewood and finally tucks into supper.

Qleceec, any concerns after scouting?

OCC: To clairfiy, we are 2 days into the 6 day journey to Silver Spring, correct?

Qleceec

"Just the usual concerns, a chance encounter or more likely hill giants but this is a well protected camp."
