Sazqelmiqariepr signs the contract. "Are we recruiting as a group, or in pairs?"
Both.
We only have a week, the more ground we cover, the better chance of scenting our quarry.
But tonight, we stay together. First time since… well, you know. We should enjoy it.

Yeelau is stuck on the phone for some time undertaking this task - She's not particularly familiar with the planet, the society, the language or the local processes for hiring. She is, however, quite intelligent and uses that to navigate her way amongst the various people who answer the calls to the (brief) list of possible venues she knows. What she does find out is that none of the places she contacted successfully is a hiring venue for the kind of crew she wants. She shouldn't give up, though, as about half don't answer, or give up on her foreign accent before she gets her question understood. Aliens must have a hard time finding work if these are the attitudes of the locals! She's glad she has a position.
She becomes convinced that a thorough and effective search is going to take more than a set of random calls over the course of an hour. Finding crew is like hunting prey. Know the terrain, Know the herd, Hunt the animal.

While Yeelau makes her calls, Rradzoka makes his own, calling around pack-members who might be able to help to tell them he and Denghez are hiring ship’s crew and salvage workers for an expedition off-world. There are contracts with profit-share bonuses available, and the pack is first in line for them. Having Vargr he can trust at his side would be good too. Rradzoka’s excitement at having a new command (and an interesting job) makes him enthusiastic to share the opportunity.
He adds that he thinks the whole thing will make a great story, and bring good influence to the pack, if it’s told properly. Surely we have a journalist, or filmmaker, who could come along?
Having worked his contacts, Rradzoka pockets his comm, stands straight and shakes himself, to “reset”.
Alright. Let's hit the town.

Rradzoka finds that he's got a serious problem. His contacts amongst the Surmako pack don't answer or put him off.
We ain't backin' anyone who is funded by the Uziha! says one, angrily, before hanging up.
As can be imagined, this comes as a serious surprise. This was supposed to be a secret meeting, and at no point was any mention made of the Uziha pack being involved!
The only guy who does take his call is the old Chief Engineer from the Fosgzaerds Nallo. He's not interested (he's now got pups to raise), but will put the word around.

Denghez will make contact with some of his military buddies and contacts and see if anyone they know of is looking for employment.
Using the dice roller he got an 8 on Network (Military) 0 but, unfortunately, I am unable to paste the roll into this post.

Rradzoka speaks quietly to Denghez;
We’ve got a burr in our fur. Someone’s telling our pack we’re working for Uziha, cutting out our own. I’d like to know how anyone even knew we were here. You want to go ask Erogksu? I doubt it’s him, but he works here.
Next he walks over to Tsek:
So, how is it the pack say we are traitors, paid by Uziha before I even sign a contract?
Are the Uziha funding this? I should have been told there were other partners, if there were. False pretences. I wouldn't have agreed if I'd known that.
Even that, though, is not all. Someone is sabotaging me. You. The whole thing. Somebody knows what we are doing, and doesn’t want us to do it. It’s more your deal than mine, who’d know you were putting it together?

Tsek looks shocked. Then a thought clearly crosses his mind. He almost cowers as he realises what must have happened.
Oelue Sadzdall. He must be the person behind this. He told me he wasn't interested, dropped me at Fel - and I bet he came straight here!
He checks the arrivals and departures at the port.
Yep - He's here. He shows everyone the arrival details of the
Todzougaerrgtokh.
Tsek is Furious.

Your ex-mates are helpful - they mention that there are a bunch of support techs available from a disbanding regiment. Some of them might be useful about a powerplant or gravitics system.
When you drop Rradzoka's name as a recruiting feature, the whole discussion becomes frostier.
But you could always take "Brynvadur" off-world. Someone needs to.
Who "Brynvadur" is, is not explained, but is clearly seen as some form of joke.

Well...He's no astrogator. He will be able to get someone to trawl the ships log though. But I suspect that he won't do that until the last minute. I mean he'll be able to get to Serk, but the exact spot will be secret until they get there (if I know him). So basically everything really.
and after a moment
I trusted that ......

Daehaggzoegr chimes in.
Well, It seems we have a race.
And Oelue is out of the blocks, and playing dirty, before we even knew the race was on!
Maybe we should find him and hobble him too. And/Or his ship. Or his astrogator.

All three.
Ach, but we can't take the ship, he's in port. The authorities bare teeth at Corsair business in port.
Well, accidents happen in port all the time.

Tsek flips through his comms unit and comes up with an image:-
He'll be in the Captain's Bars. He likes that he's the Captain with his own ship. Why? What had you in mind?
And I've no idea what his Astrogator looks like. I've no idea who he has in that role!

No - Captains just like the place to insist on a certain quality that keeps out the rabble!
Any rich idiot can go there.
You just need the right clothes and some readies.

Daehaggzoegr Raekrroz looks resigned to a long argument.
Duelling is NOT going to get us to find our ship. We need to get the supplies we need, find the people we need and get moving before that sneaky creature can do the same. That he is trying to slow us means he's got his own issues.
Now, This afternoon, I am going down to the commercial docks to post on the job boards there. It may not be fancy, or clever, but it will turn up some applicants over the next few days. I can post your ad too, if you have one. They charge for the privilege, so bring cash.
Does anyone know anyone with the required skills and/or experience? Lets visit them and explain that we aren't the gangsters that these rumours paint us as. Various agencies will have known crew on their books - that they will recommend us to for a finders fee. This is the modern UFA not some backward Imperial slave planet relying on word-of-mouth and messenger animals!
And if anyone has another plan, lets get to it if it has a half-way decent chance of success!

Rradzoka snaps out of his brooding.
Duelling sometimes solves things. But this time, well, it’s pack. Can’t fight them for saying I’m against them. But if I find this Oelue, I can fight him.
Not tooth and claw though. I’ve got and idea about him and his ship. Got a friend in port admin, I’ll ask about the ship. Where it is, who’s on it. Maybe they get inspected, if we give a reason. Impounded, if they have contraband.
For now, I’ll do recruiting the boring way. Agencies, datanet recruitment forums, all that. Then, bars.
Sazqelmiqariepr, do what you can, and good luck to you. Do you need to spruce up your wardrobe? I can fund that.
Daehaggzoegr, Tsek, tell me plain if Uziha is funding this venture or not. If they are, it changes how I deal with this. A tick is a different thing than a skeeter bite.
And Daehaggzoegr, thanks, I do have ads for you to post, and the cash. Again, I invest my own money, you can tell anyone this.
Rradzoka uses his comm to register accounts and place job adverts: Admin roll: [_2d6]=(6+5)=11 +1 Int, +1 Skill = 13
Rradzoka also sends a text to Dzektsavurzouk Llorsfung asking to meet.
