Almost shaking with delight after their auction and gem sales, Sven give his large friend the good news, handing the half-orc a total of 5,020 gold coins in a large sack.

"I trust that you can find something worth while to use this for, eh? Just don't spend it all in the same place." He smirks, hoping his friend believes they made the right decision to team up and attack the moors with fervor as they have.

"Dont forget, we still need to get the others their shares of these spoils, so don't run off with some cute harlot before we get them squared up," he jokes.

Gemsmiths and Appraisers

Sven makes his way back to the merchant with the nicest selection of pearls to sell.

"Hello again. Remember me? Anyway......I would like to purchase several of your pearls."

"Can I get a little better deal for them if I buy in bulk? If so, I might take as many as 20 of them from you."

The mage counts out 2000 gold coins, hoping that might be enough for the lot, knowing he has more coins to offer if necessary.

Orgoth

Orgoth heads to the Shrine to Cromm.

He will begin by sharing the info he discovered at the Arcanum about Cromm.

An old CC shrine was built upon one of the mountain tops of the Moon Peaks. Apparently the place was destroyed by giants who knocked over the pillars and threw an altar hearthstone off the mountain.

You find a picture of a white dragon which is being used as a mount by a cleric in a battle against a rider in a black dragon. Apparently the saddle and lance of the Cromm hero were buried in a barrow somewhere in the Barrow Moor.

Then.

"I am a follower of Cromm who tries to help when I can. I would like to donate 500gp to the shrine and purchase a silver holy symbol of Cromm."

Orgoth

Orgoth will wander around checking the vendors out. He is looking to see if anyone has a magic shield or at least really nice quality for sale.

Gems and 50gp deducted.

Business is booming!

Merchants and Traders thread:

Over the days you are in the Citadel, you trawl the shops looking for the best deals or specific niche items.
just a word on folk wanting to make donations. I am fine with characters giving money, jewels and items away though ideally not just to short cut a route to extra XP. Ideally, such charity can be kept in the game context and be part of the campaign world building. So for example in Helix the Chapel of St Ygg are raising funds to upgrade the font from copper to silver utensils. Doing so means they can produce more holy water in a weekly basis and thus you have more opportunity to buy vials in town. So giving here addresses a specific in game issue and helps givers contribute to the progress of the world around them. The same with Golgarth raising money for the Cromm Cistern Refurb. Giving into Ironguard projects, as it has less direct impact upon the world rewards players in a 5gp/1xp exchange rather than equally.

Also, for those giving gems. Consider instead creating a tribute item of the same value which might memorialise a fallen comrade, commemorate an expedition or just grandiosely exalt yourself.

Players have created items such as carved busts, figurines, portraits, votive candles. Each item gives them an equal xp return for the investment and helps with the character's reputation.
Orgoth: visits the Cromm Cruach shrine. The place also serves to apprentice people in aspects of masonry and construction. The gift to support the ministry is well received and the money goes towards commissioning each apprentice with a personalised toolkit of hammers and chisels, awls and the like. The iron heads cast in local forges to a high standard and the oak handles and shafts engraved with proverbs and wisdom for a disciplined life.

You purchase a holy symbol.of choice. Silver is 50gp as per PHB.

There are no magic shields for sale, they tend to be well valued personal items. You can however buy a superior crafted Shield, choosing from a variety of embossed round (Viking style), large aspis (Spartan) rectangular scutum (Roman) or long kite (Norman) styles. Improved with iron bandings, woods and leather strapping, a superior crafted Shield is not as susceptible to 'fumble' effects, fire or damage, increasing shield bash and similar proficient use skills by +1 and gives a shield bonus to a person fighting alongside you in your left if used defensively. The prices are quadruple a normal shield at 40gp each.

Dougal, visits the Cromm Cruach shrine and donates gems worth 400gp. (Are these the Bugbear marbles?). The gift goes towards the commissioning a new compostery where mushrooms and edible fungi can be farmed and underwrites an expedition to source new mineral fertilisers such as the chalk quarried north of Helix.

Durgo acquires his wood to craft a bow, getting some composite Obsidian Walnut lengths cut to match his height and grip. -80gp

Moriartus can buy some old textbooks on the dialects of Hobgoblin, Bugbear being a related language.
or, 1000gp and toss in the commission to study the name of the priest?"
You can agree to the sale of the priestly garb taken from the jackal statue and commission the curator to research the items with the intent to discover which figure they relate to. It might take a while but he can contact you in Helix by raven-post to the tavern.

Sven

Pearls, the current price is 110gp each and they can drive a hard bargain. They meet in the middle to offer a job lot of twenty one pearls for 2,200gp (that is one free).

Bought in less quantities, they are 110gp each. Mark off how many you buy.

An animal trainer is contacted. They can travel to Helix spend a season on a specific task. Costs and training fees depending what creature (horse, hound, rust monster) you have in mind.

I will deal with meeting with Duke Kell elsewhere.

Orgoth

Orgoth purchases both the Silver Holy Symbol and the Superior Shield ( large aspis (Spartan)).

-90gp, sheet updated.

I am fine with the xp ruling, I felt it was in character for Orgoth.

Yes.

Dougal is also looking for a wolfhound that can be either purchased (preferable) or commissioned to be trained.

Sven reluctantly agrees to the 21 pearls at a cost of 2,200gp. (deducted from sheet)

"Hey Otgoth! If you still want some, you can get them from me now."

This should take care of him and Gerdal for a good long while, and maybe Mazzah too.

Sven scours the markets for anyone willing to bring up and train a Rust Monster, if anyone like that actually exists. If he cant find the right person for the job, he knows he can post the work on the board back in Helix.

He then goes to any merchants who look like they might trade in healing salves and other natural unguents, hoping to procure an antidote for poison, if he can.
