Notes on Purchases
Hi All, Only 1977 book 1 weapons so Accelerators are out. Also here in Twilight's peak, Military Weapons are not available off the shelf. You'll need to find somewhere else more nefarious if you want to buy weapons below the current law level.

That leaves, rifles, shotguns, pistols, and various bladed weaponry.
All armor except Combat Armor and Battledress (again military restrictions).
All drugs available you can skip the availability check here on Port Royal except Combat, Truth and Angathics which are not legally available here.

For "standard item" shopping from here out just drop a post with what you bought in the character generation, subtract your credits and update your character sheet. I think we'll get lost with lists in the game threads if we don't keep it there.

For illegal or other "interesting" purchases will handle that in game posts.

I'll put a wrap up thread shortly once I've caught up to y'all.

Here you go, real crowd pleaser this one. Pretty useless at anything beyond short range but you'll definitely make a statement.

You could rig a holster but quickdraw probably isn't happening. This comes stock with a sling and a 6 shell belt clip..

Price it as a normal shotgun. Only has 2 rounds capacity.

He'll buy a holster and other materials and put his engineering skills to use modifying it to a bastardized solution. He'd probably ask Terry's help if needed.

For weapons hit ranges, shall we say the ranges vs armor columns all shift one left to account for the short barrel and wider spread? Except the sawed off shouldn't be any better than a pistol at Close and absolutely no hits possible beyond medium?

Here's my thoughts - call close maybe 0-3 meters, short 4-5 meters and the rest probably not happening

Seems fair. This thing’s mostly for intimidation anyway! And clearing hallways and around corners!

Any bonus for firing both barrels simultaneously?

If you hit roll 2x damage (8d6 ouch)

Also group hits by shotgun rules apply in either case to any in range.

Rethinking the Weapon Card again. Going with equivalent to Pistol at Close range, regular Shotgun at Short Range and nothing beyond. Still don't want to get hit by both barrels in any scenario where you're unarmored- pretty realistic in that regard :D

Dude, I thought the scout service gave intro weapons training to everybody…for all types of weapons. Been a while. I think the gun store has a gun range. Let’s go shoot this thing there. Don’t show that thing around in public though. That thing might not be quite legal on this ball of molten hell.


He’d take Terry and offer Alfonse to the range. He’d bring his rifle, revolver and “shorty” (sawed-off) for some target practice for himself. He’d offer instruction and let the other guys shoot enough to get comfortable with all these weapons if they want.

Gun shops with ranges often have samples of various weapons shooters can try out for a small fee or a purchase of ammo. This permits people to get hands on with a potential purchase. As it’s a good sales technique, I would imagine that would also be true in space.

OK - So just a standard rifle then. Telescopic sight, monopod, Strap, Gun-Case and Cleaning Kit. Plus standard ammo, and some target-shooting quality stuff . Do you sell a belt pouch for spare magazines and keeping the competition ammo undamaged? Also, do you sell a toolkit for assembling my own ammo?

OK, I'll come along and give it a try.

I suppose it makes sense to know how to use one, just in case. It's not something that came up in the Merchant Marine.


After a session on the range Alphonse will settle on a Revolver and 100 rounds of ammunition, cleaning kit, holster, belt with pouches for ammunition and 2 speed loaders if available.

During the shooting practice, Dmitri will tell Terry:
“Ya know…you REALLY suck with that thing. Here, give my shorty a try while I check out a full sized shotgun too. You can’t really miss with that Shorty up close. See if a shotgun gives you a fighting chance at medium range. Here’s a box of ammo. Go ahead and use it all up.”

Dmitri returns with a shotgun to try out.

“You seem to do ok with the rifle and shotgun…and Shorty.”

Evening

After a morning spent tooling up in the bustling shops of Twilight's Peak startown and the afternoon blasting targets at the GunsRus range the group ponders their next options.

During the day Alphonse obtains a lead on Fendon Smitts, the scalawag who made off without paying Rando for the last month of "guard duty".

Bar X is known for for it's good food, a small casino and notably cardrooms for private games. Fendon would likely be drawn to a venue like this and since the crew needs to eat sometime they head there for dinner.

There is a security checkpoint at the front door collecting weapons and issuing receipts.

Housekeeping:
Please make sure to update your character sheets in the Crew Common Area with any purchases made today and subtract credits accordingly. If you need some help pm me or put something in the Starport Bar thread to keep the clutter there instead of the game thread. "Minor" weapon accessories, slings, holsters, etc. are 10% of whatever the gun cost.

Terry will check his pistol in at the door.
So what’s the plan here guys? Rando points him out and we confront him? Lay low and follow him to wherever he’s hiding out?

Dmitri (wearing cloth armor under loose fitting clothing) will conspicuously scout out the establishment looking for back exits, etc. He will have tried to keep a dagger in each boot sheath and slip them in, though he will check his metal dagger from his hip sheath and his revolver from the shoulder holster. He'll keep the silencer in a pocket on his armor. Since nobody else bought a radio communicator, he'll come back to the group in a discreet location and report what he saw. Otherwise, he defers to Rando's lead.

Alphonse enters Bar X a few minutes after the others straightening down his new jacket.

Not acknowledging the groups presence he orders a Pastis and peels away to do his own recce of the place focussing on the patrons, looking to determine any potentially troublesome groups and scoping the gaming tables.

If he sees our quarry he'll discretely position himself where he can see both the rest of the party and his prey while making small talk with people nearby.
