And there's a certain tall, mean, green, blubbery, regenerating AD&D monster that makes its appearance there. ;)

Hint: fire helps!

Not to nitpick, but the interviews could use a clearer sound. Rob's droning voice and accent made it hard for me to understand most of what he was saying.

I had to apply several tools to Rob's audio file - there was a lot of clipping. We did several tests before actual recording, each with varying degrees of success but the reality is that we're working with high Skype latency, limitations of the recording software and consumer grade hardware. Not everything can be fixed in post, and the final result is the best we can make it. Until the recording was complete, we weren't aware there was an issue, so.... we made lemonade.

Hey Martin,

I see you use both SKYPE and G+ hangouts for your interviews. Which do you find easier?
I like the facility of G+ and SKYPE seems so limited, though it also seems to work.

I use both for different reasons.

G+ streams directly to YT, which means I don't have to spend time uploading. I can have multiple guests with fewer bandwidth issues, though I find my mic clips when I use it. The drawback is that I can't then edit ANYTHING whatsoever unless I take the video down and then re-upload it. The plus side is that viewers can interact live and ask questions as we go.

Skype records directly to my laptop. I can then edit it accordingly, split screen it or do any number of other things. I have the drawback of having to take hours to upload the video, but the video can have audio / visual fixes and images can be inserted for context and to break up the flow of a singular image running for long periods.

Either is good, but it depends on what I'm doing for an end result really. Skype takes more time and attention, but I prefer the final output, even though I like live events and the interaction they can bring to the party. The Interview with James Raggi had 109 comments on it before recording had even finished - people get psyched on a love event and join in as the conversation moves along, whereas the one with Rob hasn't so many comments, but it's being watched all the way through far more often (I checked the analytics) and the comments are more reflective of that.

You going to be doing some yourself? Ping me the links when they're up if you are :)

I think they tend to get psyched about a love event too... it may be the social worker in me, but just sayin'. :D

Heck no, I'll leave that to you. Just thinking that I've gamed on both, and there are plusses and minuses to both. I think I prefer G+ because of the ability to use chat and see all the players. SKYPE (at least free SKYPE) won't allow video if more than one person is on the call. That's a bummer to me.

But then again, regarding SKYPE recordings, there is this one of an awesome game I played... (looks around to see if Argennian, Alethan and ToniXX are paying attention)... and the link is
CENSORED
;)

We're going to be collating a series of questions that have been asked and then making a video specifically to address the questions put forward. If anyone wishes to pose a question to Rob, please go to the video itself and leave it in the comments section so that we have them all in one place as we may miss it in forums.

Thanks for watching guys, MORE guests coming soon as well as more in-depth discussion with Rob which I'm very excited about - he's got some concepts and ideas that blew my mind, and I can't wait to see them in the wider public domain with his new book :D
