before grabbing an emptied plate and licking the gravy, runs back out to sit on the verandah.
grabs both jugs and follows Golgarth and Dalin out on the verandah
He will go with the dwarf Dalin and feed the beggar Alastar outside on the verandah of the tavern.
Outside, sitting crossed legged on the verandah is the beggar Alastar.
Dalin after trying to figure out Alastar and his visual manner of communication the dwarf leaves the poor fellow to his own devices and with the food and drink he purchased for him, he makes his way back over to the bar
So I think the narration is clear above but I do accept the point that with lots going on among seperate groups and different conversations, understanding the dynamics of who is where doing what with whom may be easily misunderstood.
I will try to be clear in my updates but I encourage players to read through all the threads to visualise what is happening. This is not so much of an issue in town but during an expedition or facing an encounter, you need to be in the ball. If ever you don't know, just ask. No problem.
Not that I will get it right all the time either. I confused Cadeweed pulling on Sigrid's skirts not Mai's as he posted. So now he has both hands full with two beauties at his table.
On another point. I appreciate the posts so far and applaud even the skill checks. You are free to do whatever of course but bear in mind in-character actions still have consequences. Though you can discover much in Helix through plothooks and npc interaction, your real adventures are outside the village.

Yes the dwarf has already managed to get into trouble without even leaving town.

Occasionally, NPCs may share information in this thread as well if they happen to be privy to something of interest and think it worth sharing.
Is this something that will be related in another thread somewhere? Like a history or "what to do" thread?
If you are expecting all of the players to read through every word from every character in the game in order to find out this information, I think you will be somewhat disappointed in the outcome. We players are extremely lazy readers.

If rumours or information is public knowledge I will include it in the bulletin board. Some things discovered in town will be known by the characters finding it and as ooc knowledge by others. (Such as Vann looking at the treasure of the two he spoke with).
I will set Sven & Orgoth thread up shortly.

I am going to visit family and will most likely be off line until Sunday as my only internet will be my work laptop and I don't know if it will connect to the Unseen Servant (it doesn't at work). No matter what I will be less active. Please feel free to NPC my character.

Ok. In the absence of any post from Jedion357 I will npc Friar John's action at the chapel.

A thread with 17 posts in one 24 hour span?
That’s as close to playing around the table as I’ve ever seen here.

Good job from Mr Rose & Stirling being on line to wrap things up in the chapel.
If I am on line, I am ready to go and I also got in a few PM's and updates to others. The action hotting up in the first Barrowmoor exploration too. I had to check but yep, 2HD zombies hit AC5 at 11+, equivalent of a 5th level fighter. Yikes! This is gonna be tough and a reminder to plan strategies, prepare, act intelligently, use all your skills and teamwork, pray to the gods, get lucky. Contrary to Gygax advice in the DMG I do favour PC's with being able to critically hit but monsters don't and upped some skill or class options. But I don't fudge the dice so as Vann Hector found, even adventuring in the village can be dangerous.
Hope folk are enjoying it so far.

Friar John will stay in the village as an NPC in the absence of posts from his player.
Just like to say to Jedion 357. Apologies if you felt I railroaded your character's actions. It is not really my intention to roleplay characters and I will try and wait a few days between updates if players are not on line but I do encourage players to make at least two posts a week particularly if you have an encounter or are in a group situation.
I appreciate Rex letting me and fellow players know of his possible absence for a few days which helps everyone. I will send a check-in email to folk if I am waiting in a post before acting in your absence so please check private messages.

So, for future reference, these are
not your run of the mill zombies?
That's good to know.
At least they still act last.

Straight out of monster manual 1 (1977).

Really? I had no idea.
Did that change over the years?
My 4th printing MM1 is from 1979, and the 5HD thing isn't listed in there.

Ok. Not the attack table in the DMG pg 75 lists HD 2-3 creatures hit AC5 with 11+.
Takes a F5 to hit in similar fashion. I was surprised, I would have thought 15+ but I checked and so the squires and those in the chapel got hit. The paladin only missed by virtue of the protection from evil penalty to the ghoul's roll.
Obtaining surprise might be a crucial factor in any encounter.

Ahhh, yes. You are correct of course. On all points.
I need to get the 1 HD = 1st level ratio out of my brain and use the chart.
I can see that planning ahead will be crucial from now on. (if there is a "now on")

Folks: I'm sorry I haven't been posting- this group kinda got away from me, and there seem to be a lot of posts- a lot faster than I'm used to.

That is ok. I appreciate players will have different time constraints to commit to this and other games. Ideally folk can post twice a week so I can update before and after weekends, possibly a little quicker if you are in an encounter, combat situation.
I encourage patience with all players and hope anyone can communicate with me and other players if they know about any expected absence at all.
As a general rule I will email a pm to players to prompt a post before npc'ing an action for the character.

A couple of players have asked about private forums to keep notes and information in. I will arrange for those shortly.

Let me know if this style works for you guys
Yes. The map is easy to note as long as we recognise it as out of character information, at least until a returning expedition shares the knowledge in the tavern.
On another note. This campaign looks brutal and no holds barred. I see the elf and cleric nearly died by the ghoul in the crypt and this spider silk trek is being decimated already.
Kudos to Spearmint for running so many threads simultaneously.

Agreed!
I am becoming addicted to the constant action in this game.
The pace is indeed remarkable.
