Re: Marduk
Leon will scan for any communication towers, air defence, or military/police targets as these will be taken out first by the lasers. He will get Ingred to ready the auto cannons to first strafe the town then act as cover.
Re: Marduk
Raven returns to the bridge now dressed in her "war glory". She wears the full battle regalia of an Oghman warrior of repute - a sight both magnificent and terrible for all to behold.
A fine fur pelt is about her shoulders as the "collar" of the black cloak that hangs over her full carapace armour. She carries wealth visibly as fine silver "torcs" clasped over her armoured forearms but her weaponry must be deterrent enough to any but the most suicidal thief.
The handle of "Battle Hag" projects over her shoulder and she appears to be covered in side arms with pistol holsters at her thigh, waist and across her ribs. She carries a squad support weapon in place of a standard rifle.
However a raider with a name must also look the part and their presence must demand both fear and attention. Raven has spent time with pale makeup, streaking it back into her braided black hair, shadows accentuate her cheek bones and the black make up sprayed artfully over both eyes gives her face the appearance of a skull.
She strips of a fighting gauntlet with reinforced knuckles and mesh palms to stab a finger at the projected map "There at the junction. Your arse is clear and you can suppress the market. Watch for trouble from the docks".
(OOC: Looking at the map there's one obvious location which looks like it might also be the market. There's a Y junction coming into town from the coast road which forks to travel up both sides of the multi coloured "stalls" of an open market(?) Landing in that junction seems to fit the plan).

Re: Marduk
Yes, you've read the map correctly, that's the market.
Re: Marduk
Understood Raven, when you exit with the APC, we will lift off and provide close air support, call out any strong points to Leon. Ridley if you are ready, on Raven's mark.
Smiling with a feral grin with the anticipation.

Re: Marduk
Raven replies "I would like you to drop the APC and the warband so we can come in on the road north of the town. Then land the Serpent at the south of the market and my warriors and I will feed her there. We will be in position to drive the people and the market goods direct into the Serpent's hold. We can then take off. Our goals are deliberately simple and limited".
Re: Marduk
Ok Raven, we'll hold station at the market crossroads port/south side after dropping you off. Happy hunting!
Re: Marduk
Raven nods "We will be there!"
She offers her hand to Kar in the "warriors grip" and then goes to join the warband loading aboard their APC.

Leon will wish Raven and her warriors well. As he watches the formidable warrior depart he muses ...who needs ships lasers, just sit her on the bow and bang, there goes the enemy!

Re: Marduk
Edited to add Áshildr
The Warband, excited and eager, joking among themselves, file out of the Longhouse toward the shaft into the APC, Ingunn proudly taking the lead, beside Raven, to cheers from her comrades.
Áshildr is standing beside the dropshaft to the garage in her Poly Carapace armour, Static Sword in hand, pistols ( a Flechette Pistol and Snub Autopistol ) holstered on either hip. As the warband move to take their places in the Doomsayer below she offers her salute. þefa ( Sniffer ) sits restlessly at her side, agitated but obedient to his "stay" order from Hróarr.
As the APC pilot Ingunn sits alone in the front right-hand side of the Doomsayer APC. Raven takes the command position behind her, and Sverrir takes the seat beside Raven with the main Gunnery controls. There is a secondary Gunnery station at the rear, beside the main ramp, which Hrafn takes. The warriors crowd into the bench seats and chatter among themselves as the crew bring their screens up and check the systems.
The Serpent glides through the dark sky of Marduk, graceful and eager to fly, racing toward the huge orange sun lightening the horizon.
As the coast nears the bay doors open and the APC accelerates out, dropping away toward the rocky surface as the Serpent curves up and away in a spiral turn ending in a swoop down to a southerly course. The APC continues eastward, seemingly only a few feet above the broken surface, a jumble of tangled forests and piled boulders.
The Serpents broad curving flightpath brings it out over the sea briefly as it turns in to approach the SW edge of the town.
The APC hurtles toward the ridge of rocks shielding Skeaping from the interior at its 200 Kph cruising speed. Ingunn, flying with a topographic overlay projected on her HUD, flies steady and low, rising and falling with the terrain and keeping in the dark shadow cast by the rapidly nearing wall of giant boulders she is apparently oblivious to until she hits the thrusters, accelerating into a climbing parabola that just clears the ridge.
As the APC climbs its cameras pick up a flare launched from the southern end of the ridge, arcing out to the south-west over the sea, roughly where the Serpent should be.
As the Doomsayer crests the ridge, mere feet from the bare rock, the Serpent can indeed be seen sweeping in over the waves, its colours bright in the dawn sun. Skeaping is laid out below, smoke rising from chimneys and people going about their business in its streets. A tall, massively built stone tower rises from a huge boulder north of the port. The rock it sits on is over 50 meters high, the tower about 10 meters. While obviously a fortification it has an unlit lighthouse beacon on top.
Sverrir and Hrafn traverse the weapons they control, using their targeting sensors to sweep the area.
Raven, her command position having feeds from the targeting and avionic sensors, scans the screens for threats. She immediately identifies a startled figure in a camouflaged position on top of a massive boulder to the north of the cave entrance at point 5. They had been looking out to sea. Below them a dark straight line suggests a firing slit carved in the rock.
The APC clears the ridge and swoops down on the town as people who had been alerted by the flare start to react.
On the Serpent Regina reports I see a bunker where the flare came from as Ridley swings the ship around to face the town, engaging the M-Drive and bringing the thrusters online to regain full manoeuvrability.

Absorbing the information, seeing the raid unfold before his eyes.
Kar inwardly exults at that all to Ohgman joy of bloodlust, knowing that keeping that inside, for now, is what is needed.
Leon, you know what to do. Wreck those bunkers and any called targets, fill your boots!

Re: Marduk
As the APC closes Raven uses her comm to relate the results of her observations from the APC. “Serpent from Raven. Targets: ten metre tower in the bay, warning beacon - scour the tower top with a sandcaster. Next: in the boulder north of the cave entrance - bunker and militia in the open”.
She claps Ingunn on the shoulder and indicates the courtyard where she wants Sigmundr and his “wing” set down.

Re: Marduk
2d6 from everyone for initiative. Add either Dex or Int bonus.
For the first round only:
The APC has surprise (+6)
The Serpent has a +3 "Shock and Awe" bonus

Raven
[2d6] = 5
Raven will add Tactics 2 and Dex +1
(OOC: Keep an eye on me here please GM - I'm not overly familiar with Mongoose Combat).

Re: Marduk
Thats all correct. If you roll for Tactics/Military the bonus applies to all characters/NPCs in the commanded group too. In this case the APC warband.
We'll act in initiative order for the rest of the combat, highest number first.
Re: Marduk
OOC: I went and looked it up (no good ever comes of book learnin'
) and found that, quite reasonably the skill falls into naval and military. I humbly suggest Raven's skill falls somewhere between those two stools - apologies for the scatological reference.
I think "commanded group" is a very useful term to prevent the skill becoming abusive.
All subject to your guidance of course!

Re: Marduk
I think Raven's Tactics skill would be purely Military. Naval Tactics is not the province of Raiders, but of Corsairs. Leon's your Naval Tactics guy.
If Raven wants to add that bonus to her Warband a roll is needed.

Re: Marduk
Oh, absolutely!
I was suggesting she's good at viking / orbital raiding but in a pure military stand up fight she might be disadvantaged.
Here we go:
[2d6] = 5
It appears that 5 is today's issue number!
Tactics 2 - she'll need her Wurzel Gummage "thinkin' 'ead" +1 Int bonus to fathom it!

Re: Marduk
Yep, that turnip has some country common sense in it. Squeaked the 8, gives the Warband a bonus.
I doubt you'll face a regular force, but if you do the skill is the same - how to deploy and manoeuvre the assets you have in the best way to counter the efforts of the enemy. Essentially it comes down to a "quick-thinking" bonus, the advantage of guessing the opposition's intention and how to anticipate it.
You'll note above I got mostly 5s and 11s. Hopefully you're due a switch.
