Aari

Aari will remain still, watching the exchange with the gator and keeping ready in case he needs to try and hit the beast.

The masonry walls are stable. If the debris were cleared it would be a simple matter to repair the hole. A temporary plug of wooden beams and planks could probably be erected in a few hours to keep the Gator out.

Throughout most of the fortress the roof and walls of the second level collapsed onto the floor of the second level which was able to support the weight with only minor breaches of the planking on the floor. In the case of the Tower (near the main gate) the second floor collapsed under the load of the stone walls and all of the debris reached a stable final position with the tower open to the sky. The light wood rotted and the heavy beams remain. With the barracks, the second level collapsed and the second floor neither collapsed (like the tower) nor was it able to support the additional load. The result is a partial collapse that leaves a tangle of beams in an innately unstable configuration. Any and all movement through the beams has the potential to trigger either shifting beams, falling debris or a partial collapse.

Sebastian

”The gator is merely hungry. We should be able to keep it in order simply by having some food on hand.”

Sebastian focuses on the image he sensed from the gator about trollkin being food, and reinforces it. He then focuses on an image of the gator and members of the clan in the moat with the gator not attacking, and thinking “not food”, and then members of the clan tossing large pieces of meat into the moat for the gator to easily eat and thoughts of happy, easy, and food.

Once the food images are done, if there is time, Sebastian will focus on an image of the gators nest and eggs being safe from members of the clan.

Year 1153, Day 107: 4:02 PM [Barracks]

[Round 2]
The party watched as Sebastian exchanged a few more grunt and hiss word-thoughts with the Gator. As the conversation continued, the Gator obligingly clambered out the gap in the wall and slid into the water. Sebastian continued the conversation from the breach with the Gator in the moat. Sebastian learned that the Gator had no mate so there were no eggs in the nest, the Barracks was just a shady spot to get out of the water and out of the sun.

Does the Party search or retreat from the empty but unstable room?

Aari

Aari will hold off on searching for now. "Maybe we should see if we can stabilize the room before we do anymore searching?"

Bogarde

Picks up a couple of fallen beams and tries to wedge them under weak points to brace the ceiling.

"If we can shore up the roof a little it might enable someone to eventually clear the debris above and then make this room more liveable."

He hopes the action gives extra security for those searching the room.

Hadrian is presumably still in conversation with the wolf when all this unfolded. After the chat, he'll go talk to the families in our protection individually, make sure everyone's on the same page about the events of a very eventful day (and in the process learn about the alligator).

He will try to grab an early night's rest, so that he can give worship to Mielikki before sunrise and meet the hawks at dawn.

Sebastian

Sebastian will help with shoring up the room, but conscious of his leg, stays away from the precarious parts that he doesn’t care to have to dodge.

Phaeus

Okay so while the beefy characters shore up the roof, I will ransack any cupboards and chests, sacking up useable or saleable goods in a large sack.

After a clear out I suggest we complete the sweep of the West Wing and explore the wet and stinky trophy room.

Year 1153, Day 107: 10:00 PM [Barracks #17]

After six hours of careful work, the ceiling was safely braced and the room thoroughly searched. From the condition of the contents in the chests, you were not the first to loot the room. The chests themselves remained serviceable, but all of clothing and leather goods inside were ruined from exposure to moisture. You were able to locate a total of 33 CP scattered among all of the chests.

A dark corner revealed the most interesting find. The remains of an adventurer killed by a falling beam and eaten by the Gator. Along with the leftover bones was an intact suit of Scale Mail, a shield, a light crossbow and 24 arrows for the Crossbow [all Item #104].

The gator has been persuaded out of the room, and a temporary plank filler placed in the hole to keep it outside. Due to the late hour, the group heads to bed … leaving the next room for Tomorrow.
