Magna Jonsdottir
"Don their robes, tallfolk! And please help me with the three cultists about to pilfer Tyv's possessions so I can be fitted too! We can sneak to safety if we wear their garments!"
I am convinced. Magna says - impressed with the vicious strike of the awl - as she starts peeling the clothes from a cultist that appears to be slightly larger than her size and also a little intimidated by the gore of this strong halfling's strike.

If the clothes are loose fitting enough she will put them over her own clothes and apron. She looks carefully at how the cultists on the ground appear and will adjust her hair, look, etc... to get as close as possible.

I am not for delaying further and think we should get to those coal buckets quickly!

Magna will follow Odlo to attack the kobolds if that is where he ultimately goes.

Filled with aggression over the danger to himself, the death of Tyv, and the sacking of his adopted home, Brocard rushes the kobolds disturbing Tyv's body.

Brocard Attack w/ club: [1d20+1] = 3+1 = 4 Damage [1d4+1] = 3+1 = 4

Okay, Odlo is committed to taking down the last cultist. Thorhall and Magda (with Odlo) are stripping and hiding the cultist bodies. Broccard is charging the kobolds. I need remaining characters to specify if they're helping with bodies, charging with Broccard, or doing a third thing. (Charging people, make attack rolls. Body-disposal group, make Luck checks.)

Hannu Survage

Hannu invigorated by spearing the cultist with his pitchfork sees the blood at the end of the implement. Well, that was fun! he thinks. He charges - with a little hobble on each landing of the left foot - with Brocard towards the kobolds eager for more and drawn on by an interest in the fancy things he may be able to take from Tyv's body.

Attack Roll [1d20] = 19, Damage [1d8-1] = 6-1 = 5

I have enjoyed having Hannu reacting to other people's actions - but then I missed the Brocard action! CHARGE!

Magna Jonsdottir

Magna peels off the outer garments and rifles through the clothes of a cultist that appears to be the right size.

Casper the dwarf blacksmith
Casper throws Pox a robe after searching it. He then urges people to flee to the coal buckets and away from here.

Pox the Butcher
Pox attempts to put the thing on after picking up his side of beef. Even if it fits it is not much of a disguise, what with the giant shoulder pad created by the hunk of meat.

We need to get out of here, he says. Come on!

"Laughing" Pegg, the Gongfarmer
Falnan Rosleigh, the Halfling Glovemaker

After helping strip the robes from the cultists, Pegg suits up and help the frazzled halfling do the same before turning her attention to the bodies; with the rest of the party moving out to bash more heads in, the gongfarmer tries her best to move the cultist corpses somewhere out of the open. Falnan notices that the large woman seems worryingly adept at transporting dead bodies, but he has more important things to worry about right now, like absolutely everything.

Characters:
  • AleBelly: Odlo
  • AleBelly: Tyv
  • Alethan: Thorhall
  • Faanku: "Laughing" Pegg
  • Faanku: Falnan Rosleigh
  • greyarea: Casper
  • greyarea: Pox
  • Samwell Turleton: Hannu Survage (3 / 4)
  • Samwell Turleton: Magna Jonsdottir
  • ybn1197: Brocard Bottomhill
The final cultist tries to escape Brocard, running back toward Jeweler's Square, but has the misfortune of trying to pass the other halflings. Odlo stabs the man viciously with his sewing awl, right through the kneecap! (-9) The man colapses, cradling his leg to his chest in pain for a moment before passing out as the agony overwhelms him.

Casper exclaims in dwarvish, apparently understood by Pox and Thorhall. They resolve to hurry to the coal buckets as quickly as possible.

Thorhall, Odlo, Magna, Casper, Pox, and Pegg don the robes of the defeated cultists, swiftly dragging the bodies behind the haystack, then hiding them underneath. Falnan dithers worryingly but there's not enough robes for him and these human ones are simply too big. The bodies are checked for valuables: the looting cultists coming from Jewelry Square a juicy prize. Odlo scores the luckiest find, a jeweled Northman longknife (as shortsword) with faceted diamonds in the hilt. The robes are apportioned to best fit each of you and each cultist carries a spear. You also find among their loot: a silver urn with Raven handles, three large diamonds, and 124 silver coins.

Brocard and Hannu charge at the Kobolds back in Treaty Junction, preventing the three Kobolds from rummaging Tyv's body. The angry halfling's charge catches them unprepared and, while he whiffs with his cudgel, Hannu skewers one with his pitchfork (-5). The remaining two Kobolds hiss, brandishing daggers and swiping at you, missing. Tyv's body is their kill, though, and they're willing to fight you for it. They flank out to take you on.

Looting took more than one round. I need Brocard and Hannu to post next round and finish out this combat alone. The rest of you can role-play over the bodies a bit, but can't join them until it resolves.

Hannu tickles a kobold with the tines of the pitchfork while giggling madly.

Brocard keeps pace with one of the kobolds, not allowing it to flank him.

The Kobolds come at you with unexpected ferocity, fully invested in protecting Tyv's body as their kill.

Hannu nicks the Kobold with his pitchfork as the small creature leaps at him! (min. 1 hp) The Kobold jabs fiercely at the farmer, startling the chicken under Hannu's arm, which flutters up and - to it's ill fortune and Hannu's grace - gets stabbed instead. The chicken squawks and flaps around on the ground, then falls over still.

Broccard dodges sideways, missing his swing with his cudgel as he tries to evade the Kobold, but it comes on too swiftly - it's dagger slips into the halfling's abdomen (-2).

...final scene for Broccard. Hannu, next round.
Kobold: B [1d20] = 13[1d4] = 2 H [1d20] = 12[1d4] = 4
Incorporating Luck makes Hannu succeed, so I will allow the chicken to accept his Fate instead as a luck move.
I considered letting Brocard use his begging bowl as a shield but adding luck and a shield isn't enough to save him. :(

Hannu Survage

Hannu cuts his giggling short as his flapping friend takes the Kobold's attack and squawks in misery along the ground.

Hannu's sweat drips from his brow mixing with the blood of his friend Bucket in rivulets around the contours of his mouth. He spits a little of the metallic briny fluid at the ground by the Kobold's feet.

You're gonna regret that... Hannu snarls with a look of menace in his eyes.

Odlo gasps as he pulls the jeweled knife from the robe of a cultist. He turns it over in his hand, watching as the sunlight reflects off the sparkling hilt. Never before have his hands held a thing so valuable.

A bit embarrassed by his luck, he leaves the rest of the treasure to the others. "Perhaps we can use these riches to help the town recover" he says to the others as he finds the smallest robe and drapes it over his clothing. He slips his gloves, awl, flint, and steel into the pockets.

He crinkles his nose at Pegg's odoriferous emanations as he helps her drag the slain cultists under the hay, looking around nervously as he does so.

"Well met, all. We put up quite the fight, no? To the coal buckets, I presume?" He opens the fold of his robe. "Come, Falnan. Let us put our professional rivalry aside and make it to safety together."

He then gasps - again - as he sees Broccard fall to a kobold. "Oh dear" he moans. "'Twas my idea to accost them."

Hannu faces both Kobolds now, making dodging more difficult as they work together to flank him. He takes one slash from a dagger across his thigh. (-2)

He then pricks the already wounded Kobold with his vengeful strike (-1). Seeing Hannu bleeding and injured, the last Kobold titters. It sticks a finger in Bucket's blood and tastes it to taunt him.

Round 3... Others can arrive now.

Hannu Survage

Hannu swells with anger as he sees the Kobold taste the blood of his companion and he is faced in this moment with some realizations: that he failed in the protection of his innocent companion; that he may never know a love more pure; that he wants more than anything for these Kobolds to die; and that his left cheek is smarting with the exertion of this fight.

Hannu strikes again wielding his pitchfork with a terrible fury...crying out in an indecipherable guttural gibberish.

Attack Roll [1d20] = 20, Damage [1d8-1] = 3-1 = 2, Luck [1d20+2] = 13+2 = 15

Magna Jonsdottir

Magna - searching the bodies of the cultists - feels shame that she didn't support the efforts of the halfling and that strange man and is here in the street ogling the treasures strewn on the ground. She grapples within herself whether she should help or hurry to the coal buckets.

She glances down the street and for the briefest moment thinks she sees the hazy contours of a massive elk enfolding the farmer, the antlers and the pitchfork entwined and striking together. She blinks and the image is gone.

Hannu crit! [1d4+2] = 2+2 = 4
Strike to foe’s kneecap. Inflict +1d4 damage
with this strike and the foe suffers a -10’ pen-
alty to speed until healed.
Additional damage [1d4] = 3

Hannu viciously kneecaps the wounded Kobold; the other will still be standing.

(Holding to adjudicate the full round until others post about joining in or watching. Also, to give Broccard a chance for his death scene.)

Placing his cudgel tip down, Brocard leans on the wood implement like he has lost all his strength. Looking down at the steadily expanding blood stain on his vest, he lifts his head skyward. "Father, I am so sorry I failed you. I wanted to see the world and make you proud." The cudgel slides out from underneath his hands as his body falls to the cobblestones.
