"Yes and, if I hadn't seen Bonnie being eaten at the lake up the river I would've thought that elven woman is her! She tricked us, it wouldn't surprise me if she were manipulating everyone around."

He looks at Jombo. "Long story.

Anyway, this is an idea I just came about. No one has put it into my head, just to be clear.

Maybe the others went to the tavern? I don't know. That's what I had done if I had some friends to spend my spare time with."
he chuckles.

"Maybe we should go there."

Jombo looks confused after all the talking.

"You need anything else from me?"

Liam shakes his head. You've been a great help and shedding some light on all this. Thank you, Jumbo. One last question if you please... Is there anyone else in the Militia that you think we should speak to or avoid while we work this out?

Jombo just nods.

"Like I said, there are only 4 of us left, but I dont think any of us are on board with the new Constable. His vision of what we are doing here seems to be changing by the minute."

"I dont think it will do much good to talk to the others, but I will let you know if I hear of anything."

Liam nods. Thank you Jumbo. You are an asset to this town and its people. And most especially to the spirit of the Militia.

He turns to Grimm, Marge, and Caleb. Thoughts so far? Do we go check in on him now or ask around some more? I will say this, if we show up in a smaller group, we will be perceived as less of a threat. I would like this work to be done peaceably. But I think we need to find out what is worrying him into inaction and outburst, as well and possibly, formally remove him from office. We are in uncharted territory here... But I believe he would need to be brought forth in front of the whole council for a vote of in-confidence, and then pass the title on to someone else as constable. For the record, I think Jumbo has more than proven capable if that is the route we go, but as always I am open to any input anyone has.

The ranger and his young cohort approach those assembled and hail them with a friendly wave. "Good day," he says with a smile and a nod to each. "Got a question I want to run by you at some point when you aren't busy, Liam, if you don't mind. Nothing urgent." He glances from one face to another. "Everything all right?"

Grimm "Greetings, ranger and ranger-to-be. We were just in the middle of a conversation... I was going to throw in an idea, you two might be interested in hearing it too. But, sorry, we'll talk about it once you've talked about your business, then we'll continue the discussion, if that's fine with you."

Jombo stands proud at the kind words from Liam. Marge and Caleb both look on in anticipation of addressing this concern eventually. They wait to add any opinions until everyone else has spoken their minds.

Liam speaks up: Well, we have a town safety issue we are dealing with... Liam explains the growing odd behavior of Constagle Glisandi. His hostile behavior towards Liam and the attempt to attack him while forming the rescue party. Then the incursion by the Stoneguts and how the Constable never even came out of the barracks and ordered the militia to stand down and stay inside as well.

So as you can see, there is something we need to set right here and fast for the citizen's security. We have a moment as Grimm says. What is on your mind, sir Ranger?

The ranger nods slowly as Liam speaks. "I see. He did seem somewhat...excitable and open to suggestion when I encountered him before our last mission." He shakes his head. "A very strange deal, that. Hiding while your citizens are chased and herded like cattle. If I may assist you in setting things right, please don't hesitate. My own aim in coming was to find out if there are organized hunting parties here. If not, I have my eye set on putting one together and training the hunters. Perhaps using some of the equipment we took from the pirates, if Darklin has had a chance to repair any of it. I also wanted to get your thoughts on a mission to kill the tentacle monster. Possible strategies, likely recruits, that sort of thing. As soon as I'm not so banged up, I want to find that thing and put it out of our misery."

He smiles. "But please--don't let me interrupt if you need to be about your task. We can always talk more later."

"Although it seems clear that you already have plans, maybe this might be of your interest, as it concerns going into the jungle and there might be game on the way.

I've just heard that there's been talk for a while now of moving the whole town into the jungle, to one of the spots held by the natives.

Since we did them a favor and, as far as I know, they're well disposed people, in general, I've thought of organising and expedition back into the jungle to look for a good place up river where the new settlement can be founded... With the permission of the natives, that is.

We'll need people with woodcraft skills and also willing to negotiate with the good people of the jungle.

My plan right now is going with these fine people to see what's going on with the Constable, so I know how things are in town before I leave, and then see if I can recruit people in the tavern. Hopefully Daisy, Dexter and the others are still there drowning in ale."
The poor dwarf doesn't know that that word is not even known in the tavern.

He looks at Cealwyn in the eye. "What say you?"

"I'm open to anything at the moment, my friend. After I get some arrows into that tentacle beast and these folk get plenty to eat, I'm willing to traipse through the jungle on any errands you have in mind." He smiles. "And I'm sure Paul is up for another chance to win himself a bit of coin."

"Well, that beast is on the way to jungle, right? The dwarf winks at Cealwyn. "We can start with that and, if we're not too battered, continue on to the socuting mission in the forest. Otherwise we return and take a break."

Nodding as he took all this in. I am all for your plans. I do not think I would do more than slow you down on a fight against that monster, but I will offer whatever help and equipment I can offer.

As for a scouting mission, I have some mapping and surveying equipment that might help with that if you are interested. I think we could make a good measurement of any landmarks you may find along the way. I have been thinking of using the new Hex Square Format for eventually making a scale map of everything. You are welcome to it if you wish.

As for right now, I think we need to go check on the Constable and the Militia. You are all welcome to come, of course.

With a smile and a nod, he began walking towards the barracks again.

Marge and Caleb get back to their chores while the others discuss a meeting with the constable.

"Be careful when you talk to him. Try to remember that the people around here can see and hear most everything you do. The last thing we need is another crazy scene."

If all 3 of you plan on going along, I will start a new post over there for you.

"That sounds promising, Liam. I'll do that then. Let's see the Constable and then hopefully will want to join in the octopus hunt and then the jungle mapping." The dwarf starts walking after the farmer.

Also curious.

After checking on his farm one more time to ensure that Slow Joe is still on top of things, Liam and company head in the direction of the crude thatch barracks hut the militia recently built.

As they near the new building, they see the female halfling Sister Daisy already at the door. She appears to be struggling to either get in, or trying to prevent someone on the inside from getting out. She starts to shout as the trio approaches even closer.
