Grossphil the Feeble
"Well the problem is, if my theory about the teleporting rooms is correct, that even if we consider going back through the portal we entered here from, we could easily end up in a different room with more vicious creatures inside. And considering I'm out of spells, Zefarrel is out of spells and Elitir looks like death right now, we need a solution that doesn't involve all of us blindly entering a room. I may have an idea, though."
The elf pauses and glances at Pumfrey before swallowing hard, "We could attempt to push Pumfrey through one of the portals first with a rope tied to him and see if anything comes to grab him. We should notice if we hold onto the rope and we feel another forces pulling from the other side on his body. If nothing happens, we could then enter the room theoretically and have a better chance of not stumbling into an unfriendly foe."
I know it's a possibly life ending experience for Pumfrey, but he might very well die from poisoning soon anyway. Perhaps it's at least worth considering?

Re: Home Sweet Home
Startled at the vanishing of the beast, Sprig gets clear of the walls before they meet the floor, being sure to be on the outside. He squints and blinks. Was that real? he thinks. I, if anyone, should know. He overhears the talk of pushing Pumfrey through a door as an experiment. "Look, I've no particular love for Pumfrey, but he seems like an ok guy and that seems a bit harsh. What if he makes a miraculous recovery?" The gnome thinks for a minute, then says "Anyway, couldn't we achieve the same thing by tying some of the rations from the kitchen to a rope and tossing that through?" He proceeds to do just that. "Now, which door?" he says.
Re: Home Sweet Home
Finnigan grumbles as he bandages his shoulder up. "As if the little blighter wasn't enough, I got the half-orc hittin' me, too!"
After he's done, he jumps into the conversation, "I agree. Not the place to rest when sommit could come out of that center square thing again. Let's pick a place and go and hope for the best."

Re: Home Sweet Home
Sprig squints his eyes real tight, trying to tell if what he just witnessed was real, or just some vision they all shared.
Watching the others bandage themselves up and then noticing the blood pool and matted hair left behind by the creature is all the gnome needs to let him know that the tiny monster was indeed quite real.
Grosphil has an idea that doesn't sit well with the others initially. Sprig modifies that idea by tying some of the pilfered kitchen meat at the end of his rope.
He asks the others which door he should go fishing through first.

Elitir
"Sorry Finn, feeling a bit light headed. No time for screwing around, just go back through the same door we came through. Yes I know it may not take us to the same place."
Elitir heads for the same door and walks through, sword and shield at the ready.

Re: Home Sweet Home
Finnigan shrugs, readies his battle axe, and follows Eli through the door they used to enter the room, figuring there's no place for discussion at this point.

Zefarrel: I hope this is the right choice... She follows the fighters through with hammer in hand, ready to levitate if necessary.

Mac
Once again Mac finds himself fighterless. "Is this normal for adventures? The stories always depict it so positively. People go to a place of evil, everyone gets along, the magic users are the voice of reason and lead the party. I mean, there is sometimes a traitor in the group poised to cause drama at the worst moment, but I thought that was just creative license."
Mac shrugs and looks at his two companions. Then motions gallantly to the portal, offering for them to go first. He will follow through.

Game Room
First Late Morning Inside
Believing that it might be a wise choice to exit this room fairly soon in their weakened condition, the party leaves through the same portal that they entered the room through. One by one they disappear into the southern black void, and one by one, they re-enter a rather familiar looking hallway.
It looks a lot like the same hall they chased Doblin through earlier, but this time they seem to be facing a different direction. Is it possible that they just made a circle through the last 3 rooms, ending up right back where they started?
Two plain wooden doors, along with the other three black portals line the walls of this hallway.
Actions?
Elitir 7/22
Zefarrel 3/20 0/4 first 1/3 second Find Traps: 26
Grossphil 16/16 0/2 first 0/1 second
Mac 7/7 0/2 first 1/1 second
Sprig 10/10 2/2 first
Finnigan 15/25

Re: Home Sweet Home
Assuming no traps are revealed magically, Sprig will proceed to the northern door and listen intently with his ear pressed against it. If he hears nothing, he will do the same at the southern door.

Re: Home Sweet Home
No noises can be heard from either wooden door and Zefarrel does not see anything dangerous with her enchanted vision.
Re: Home Sweet Home
Finnigan shrugs, "Let's try a normal door this time? All this jumping around makes me stomach queasy..."

Re: Home Sweet Home
Zefarrel: Agreed on the wooden door idea, hopefully one of these will suit for rest & recovery. Sprig, how is the map coming? We need to be able to figure out the black portals so we can use them to our advantage in the future.

Mac
Did we forget Pumphrey?!?
Mac hops through the portal, arriving at a familiar hallway. He thinks. "This reminds me of the story of the four kids and their dog who went into a large mansion to investigate odd noises. They would get into a chase with the local haunt then keep popping through doors into the same hallway." Mac sighs. "Ah. The classics." He takes a moment to pull out his quill and scribe his name on the wall, marking it for later discovery. "Just to make sure it's the same one."

Re: Home Sweet Home
So far......yes, you have.
Hallway
First Late Morning Inside
Hearing nothing from beyond, Sprig looks at the northernmost door for any sings of tampering. He can easily see that the locking mechanism has been destroyed recently, likely by some strong tool or blade. He trusts in the clerics vision, trying the door anyway. It opens about an inch before banging into something solid with a dull thud.
Trying this a few more times, the crafty thief realizes that there must be something blocking the door from opening any further. He turns and smiles at the dwarf and half-orc, who both promptly begin pushing, hacking and smashing their way into th room. (took a few liberties there to move this along)
Once they are able to push past the piled up furniture..... This room appears to be a private guest bedroom, since no personal items are initially seen, though it is in complete disarray at the moment. The remaining furniture that wasn’t piled against the door is tipped and scattered about the room along with bedding, clothing, and several books. There are obvious signs that this room has been searched, with books being ripped apart and drawers still hanging open. No dangers or valuables are openly spotted, though there is a rather strange sour smell coming from the area near the rooms only other door.

“Well, this used to be a room for guests, it seems - perhaps it will serve us to recuperate a bit...” says Sprig. He’ll poke around the disarray in the room, looking for the source of the sour smell.
Re: Home Sweet Home
Zefarrel: Ack, we forgot the halfling. After looking around the room, she will examine the other door with her enchanted sight. Once she has an escort that is.
