Thank goodness for that. There's so much oil over everything now that even if Niles finally hit his target, lighting it would probably light the whole room and the hallway on fire.
Initiative: [1d6] = 3

Bertram pulls his axe from the dead orc, and swings at the next the one in line.
Attack with Handaxe: [1d20+1] = 19+1 = 20, Damage: [1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6

As the giant crashes to the floor Orrin turns to face the next foe, an exultant look on his face.
{Longsword} Attack: [1d20 +1] = 9+1 = 10, Damage: [1d8+1] = 8+1 = 9

Okay...since Orrin's already moving in, I'll let the fighter handle the fighting.
As Orrin moves forward with raised blade and a ferocious grin, Galen moves up to him and lays a hand on his shoulder, chanting a healing prayer.
Cure Light Wounds: [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2
Ugh. Better than nothing, Orrin, sorry.

Hey, those two points might be the thing that keeps Orrin standing. Always appreciated!

Not wanting to crowd her companions and put them at risk, Krysta stays in the back, ready to act should one of them fall.

Enemy Initiative [1d6] = 2
The party is fortunate, and takes advantage of the fact that the loss of the giant has clearly shaken their foe. Lug and Orrin scramble into position to hem in the remaining goblinoids in the hall, pressing in on the female orc first as Bertram repeats his successful axe technique that so recently felled the last orc, finding an opening once more as she attempts to pivot to defend herself from attacks coming from Lug and Orrin, both of which she manages to deflect. The solid chop from the axe strikes her in one leg and she stumbles, but remains standing.
From behind, Galen lays hands on Orrin and partially binds one of his wounds with divine healing
(Orrin regains 2hp), as the gnoll loses patience and lets loose with an arrow that flies well over both the orc's and Bertram's heads.
Gnoll bowshot [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3, [1d6] = 1 damage
The orc herself counter-attacks against Bertram with a powerful overhand blow that knocks his shield aside and comes down on his shoulder near the base of his neck, flattening him and leaving him bleeding on the floor.
(Bertram takes 9 damage--because of how the orc is threatening things, Orrin is the only person in position to stabilize him)
Orc Attack [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21, damage [1d8+1] = 1+1 = 2
Combatants:
Female orc: 3hp
Gnoll with bow: uninjured
Gnoll with pike: asleep under Bertram's body
Actions and initiative!

Lug cries out as he sees Bertram fall.
"Heeeeeeeagghhh!" he cries as he attacks the female orc.
Reason (Claymore) (THAC0 18): [1d20+2] = 7+2 = 9 Dmg: [1d10+2] = 9+2 = 11
As usual, someone else please roll initiative.

Initiative [1d6] = 2
Fretting at the rear, Niles tries to get to Betram to help stabilize him as he falls, but finds himself unable to do so while the orc is standing.

Need to make sure I'm visualizing the battlefield correctly before I can act.
--------------------------------------------
aaaaaaaGnollaaOrcaaBert
----------------| Orrin |-----------------
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaLug
Is that roughly correct?
If so, I don't think we can do much; even if I could shoot past Lug to try and get the orc with my sling, I'm afraid I readied my mace (so would need to spend yet another round swapping out), and my last few attempts at firing into melee were dismal; a poor shot on my part could put Orrin down.
DM: if Orrin moves to stabilize Bertram, can Galen step up to melee the orc?

Orrin can stabilize Bert from his current spot, or he can move into the hall to stabilize him and thus make room.

Orrin grimaces at the situation, and moved to help Bertram. Doing his best to avoid being struck, he moves out of the bottleneck and crouches over Bertram. He does his best to try and stabilize him where he lays.

As Orrin moves in to save Bertram's life, Galen quickly steps into the breach and tries to keep the orc back from both Orrin and Bertram, swinging his mace with vigor but without much effectiveness.
Attack with mace: [1d20] = 9, damage: [1d6] = 5

Orrin wedges himself through the corner of the doorway, keeping his shield between him and the orc. As he moves by, her sword sweeps downward forcefully, but deflects at an odd angle and throws her off-balance. The spirited dwarf veteran responds with a strong blow of his own blade, which narrowly misses her arm but does strike the hilt of the weapon and knocks it free of her senseless grasp. It clatters on the floor by Galen's feet as he squeezes into the space previously occupied by Orrin, though he is unable to connect with an attack as the orc growls in anger. Lug's attack, disrupted by the movement, is also unable to reach her.
Orc Attack [1d20+1] = 1+1 = 2, damage [1d8+1] = 8+1 = 9
Behind the orc, the impatient gnoll releases another arrow. It zips under the orc's arm, straight toward, Orrin, but his shield is in place and the shaft shatters against its resilient face. Grunting in satisfaction, Orrin stoops to his work, using the shield for cover during the reprieve he gained from disarming the orc, and staunches the bleeding from the wound on Bertram's neck.
Gnoll bowshot [1d20+1] = 14+1 = 15, [1d6] = 4 damage
Combatants:
Female orc: 3hp
Gnoll with bow: uninjured
Gnoll with pike: asleep under Bertram's body
Actions and initiative!

Lug takes advantage the the orc's disarmament. As she looks toward her weapon, Lug puts the blade of his halberd in the back of her skull.
Reason (Claymore) (THAC0 18): [1d20+2] = 19+2 = 21 Dmg: [1d10+2] = 3+2 = 5
As usual, someone else please roll initiative.

When Lug fells the orc, Galen treads on her corpse as he advances on the gnoll, mace held high.
Initiative: [1d6] = 6
Attack with mace: [1d20] = 1, damage: [1d6] = 1
...and something bad probably happens.

Orrin double checks the dressing on Bertram's neck.
"There. That should hold you for now. While I'm here, might as well take care of this other one. Don't mind me."
Orrin's tone is conversational as he gingerly places the tip of his long sword on the neck of the gnoll asleep underneath Bertram and then suddenly puts his weight on it, dispatching the sleeping creature.
We can coup de grace sleeping opponents, yes? If not, disregard.

Krysta follows Galen into melee, stepping up to protect Orrin as he goes about his work. If she sees an opening, she will attack; if not, she will hold her ground.
Mace: [1d20+1] = 15+1 = 16, [1d6+1] = 2+1 = 3
