At work and can't access the dice roller. I can either post later tonight from home or Grognard can make any appropriate rolls
As the bats flood into the room and the others cry wqarning about Azoth, the theif sprigs nto action and strikes the preist upside the head with teh pommel of his short sword. Sorry Azoth, you might wake up with a headache, but hopefully you'll be in your own body andleast we'll be alive
Can he attempt to knock out 'not-Azoth' since he is strikeing from behind?
Grognard, I'll go with a non-lethal damage back stab...dont think I hit anyways....
While waiting for the DM to wade through the muddy grappling rules, Calto rips off his shirt, revealing his wrestling leotard and looks for someone to suplex.
"OOH Yeah. Time to snap into a slim jim!"
Ok, time to get my game face back on....

Kitchi- Confused by who to attack. Just tries to remove himself from the onslaught of bats.
Bruno the mad attempts to help Leomar pull off his backstab. He decided that it was long past due for him to kick the Noden Cleric Azoth in the shins. That should distract him well enough for Leomar to be successful. Note: Page; 107 UA / Says that Leomar would get a +2 to hit at the very least.
Azoth laughs maniacally
as the scepter's black flame burns Calto and Siavel! (5 HP from round 9; the successful Saves halved damage.) Siavel is now turning the bottom knob of the scepter.
The bats continue to buffer and bite the adventurers (all take 4 HP.) Siavel, struggling to get out of the room to the south hallway, collapses and is unmoving from his wounds (-3 HP, bleeding out till -10 death.) Calto, Grindhelm, Kitchi, Bruno, and Surge the ferret struggle against the bats, unable to take any effective actions (all failed Saves vs. Breath.)
The thieves Bruno and Leomar double team the recalcitrant cleric. Bruno kicks at him as Leomar stabs at Azoth's back, but the damnable bats upset their attacks as the cleric's meteor-runed brass plate mail deflects both foot and sword!
Tabai the barbarian and Blade Rain see Azoth stop turning the knob. Battling through the bats, jungle savage lunges and gets Azoth in a strangle hold! (6 HP damage.) The fighter leaps upon Azoth, overbearing the cleric and toppling him hard to the ground! (See rolls in Spoiler.) Azoth's helmeted head hits the stone floor hard and he shakes his head stunned. (7 HP damage and stunned one round.) But at the same time a black cloak expands around the cleric of Noden. It's jet cloth shimmers with terrors of the mind, causing everyone in the room to fear for their life (everyone please Save vs. Magic.)
The ponderous statue, impervious to the fluttering biting bats, advances on the prone Azoth.
It sweeps slowly but inexorably for the scepter and grabs the rod!
The adventurers see the elven sorcerer Siavel lying near the edge of the room, down and bleeding.
- Blade Rain made breath save, tackle (overbear) is successful.
- Calto made save vs magic, takes half damage on black fire. Failed vs breath, no action due to bats.
- Siavel made save vs. magic, takes half flame damage; goes down at -3 HP so no Sack of Surprises.
- Surge failed save, no action due to bats.
- Grindhelm failed save, no action due to bats.
- Kitchi failed save, no action due to bats.
- Statue grapple on scepter succeeds, Azoth can't counter-grapple to free it due to being stunned.
- Siavel is at -3 HP. Loses 1 HP per round until -10 and death. HP status: viewtopic.php?p=180013#p180013
- As you may have surmised, the black flame is similar to Burning Hands but allows a Save. The arcanists among you may consider that Azoth's witnessed manipulation of the scepter prior may have had something to do with the summoning of the bats.
- This round the scepter effect, which took some time to activate (hence the effect right at Tabai and Blade Rain's attacks), is similar to the UA cleric spell Cloak of Fear.
- Siavel's Slow duration left: 2 rounds.
- Siavel's Panguine Loyal Porter duration left: 24 rounds.
- Siavel's Thrasdrubal's Terrific Translator duration left: 16 rounds. (for talking with Tabai.)
Not 100% sure if this is good or bad, but either I made it flawlessly or I failed horribly. Assuming I make it, I'm going to try to grab the scepter from Azoth.

Marcanus, 20 always saves, as Grog told us earlier.
Also, Azoth no longer has the scepter, see Grog's post above.
The lumbering stonework colossus slowly leaves the chamber with the scepter, dragging the unconscious Siavel behind him to remove him from the bat plague.
His granite eyes look at the magic rod, trying to understand how to work it, to undo the evil of the changeling Azoth Al-Aziz.

Kitchi seeing Siavel lying near the edge of the room will try to move him out of the danger area. The sorcerer is down! I need a healing potion or a spell caster to help.
When it sees its efforts being duplicated, the rocky titan will change its actions: It will allow Grindhelm to take the scepter, allow Kitchi to drag Siavel from danger, and will help restrain the changeling Azoth, holding his arms so he cannot cast any more spells.
Alex sees that the scepter and his unconscious party-member are both being carried out of the chamber, so he sees little reason to stick around in a chamber with a horde of bats biting him and a possessed priest wanting to harm him. Leveraging himself off the ground, with a knee (or elbow depending on where exactly I landed on him) to the stomach to hopefully keep Azoth stunned a bit longer; he lurched to his feet and made a beeline for getting out of the room as quickly as possible....
Edit: Sorry, I forgot the Saving Throw....here we go: 1d20 = 14

The Chamber of Sacred Chitza-Atlan - Round 11
With Azoth stunned, the bats begin to dissipate. Calto, Tabai, Leomar and Bruno succumb to supernatural fear and flee the room at a full run. They jump over the prone body of Siavel on the way out.
Grindhelm the dwarf overcomes the fear and pushes through to the south doorway and out the room. He grabs the scepter from the stunned Azoth.
Kitchi the ranger drags the felled wizard Siavel out down the hall and calls for healing. Blade Rain holds down Azoth until the clambering statue reaches him and restrains Azoth to prevent further magic castings.
The statue, containing the mind of the true-Azoth, realizes after seeing the false-Azoth manipulate the scepter that the rod was likely responsible for the summoning of the bats, black flame, and cloak of fear. The sorcerer realizes it is a powerful artifact, possessed of magics and tied somehow to the past of Tamoachan. He surmises it was involved in the switching of his mind with the statue (or whoever was stuck in the statue.)
Azoth shakes off his stun. "Conchi toniz quinhual quixtiaya!" he yells. Thrasdrubal's Terrific Translator spell around Siavel is no longer in range, so the false Azoth's words can't be understood. But Tabai, the jungle native, recognizes some of the archaic language (see PM.) The false-Azoth is restrained by the statue's stone-cold arm lock.
As Grindhelm holds the scepter, the statue's face takes on the dwarf's visage!
Actions for Round 12!
- Given false-Azoth is stunned, the party has initiative.
- Leomar and Bruno Saves vs. breath for bat swarm [1d20] = 5, [1d20] = 4 Failed. This Save is actually against the Fear, not the bats, which dispersed with Azoth being stunned.
- Siavel is at -4 HP. Loses 1 HP per round until -10 and death. HP status: viewtopic.php?p=180013#p180013
- Siavel's Slow duration left: 1 round.
- Siavel's Panguine Loyal Porter duration left: 23 rounds.
- Siavel's Thrasdrubal's Terrific Translator duration left: 15 rounds. (for talking with Tabai.)
- Calto, Tabai, Leomar and Bruno run full movement 12" the way they came, back through the wind chamber (no wind as the trapdoor is closed), at the corner turning north per map

Grindhelm the Dwarf
Grindhelm pauses and looks at the statue for a second with almost an offended look. "I'm not that ugly, am I?" He asks himself before shaking his head and darting to the majority of the party with the scepter, weary of what it might do next. "Does someone know how to use this thing? Not sharp enough for the likes of this dwarf."

The stony statue silently held out one giant hand as if in answer. Its other hand kept the false Azoth pinned.
If Azoth wasn't returned to his normal body and soon, Siavel might die.
