Orrin nods in agreement.

"Not only that, but I was thinking of leaving behind a few things like this old miner's pick if it means I can carry a few more bars with me. How long until you think she will be stable?"

she should be movable tomorrow morning. I assume you're remaining her at least until then-- does anyone have plans for the daytime, or should I skip right ahead?

Skipping ahead is fine with me.

March 26, 1 VC - 7:00am

The terrible rain continues throughout the day and night, making the group thankful that they have the shelter of the cave even while the threat of further spider attacks continues to make them anxious. Fortunately, however, the spiders seem to be dormant, or in a defensive posture, at least for now, and the day and night pass without incident. In the morning, Naila seems fit enough for travel not to die during the first day at least, so the party can move on if it desires.

Remove one day of rations apiece, please.

1 days ration deducted.

Do either Lars or Orrin heal during the rest?

"So, shall we try and find our way back to Vaul? How much of this loot are we able to carry? I think I will drop this pick, 2 oil flasks and my old shield if I'm to carry this fancy one. Perhaps a few of Nailas things can be left behind as well, to lighten our load."

No. You need a complete day of rest before you start healing--no travel, no adventuring, and certainly no life-or-death combat against poisonous monsters :)

Two of us need to carry Naila. One can be loaded down with ingots. The two carrying might be able to put a few ingots in their packs as well. Lars will help carry Naila, as the least useful in combat.

I agree. Perhaps there are a few items of Nailas that aren't crucial (and also heavier) that we can leave in order to take more loot.

I don't think there is much room for saving weight. Either her rations or ingots are her heaviest things. Dropping a few flasks of oil doesn't even equal one ingot.

True. I hadn't looked at her character sheet too closely. Orrin might be able to handle one more ingot if he drops a couple things. It's small gain at this point though. Just an idea.

Orrin will set down his miners pick in order to add one more ingot to his bundle. He'll also leave his shield behind in order to manage the newly found shield.

I think we can probably take a maximum of 8 or 9 only, correct? 1 bundle for whoever isn't carrying the stretcher? We can take turns on that, and hand the bundle over to whoever is leading the way.

Miners pick removed from inventory.

"Lars, which direction are we headed? I'm as ready to go as can be."

A reminder that having the bundle means no one gets a rest as you travel--when you aren't carrying Naila you'll have your hands full with the ingots. This won't prevent you from traveling, but will slow down your overall rate of travel.

As a group are we okay with this? I would vote yes, but I guess it depends on how much it slows us down. Wouldn't want to risk Naila's life with extra travel time just for a batch of ingots?

March 27, 1 VC - 7:00am

The party heads out in as close to a southwesterly direction through the forest in the heavy rain. The sounds of their heavy footsteps through the undergrowth are drowned out by the steady patter of the rain on branches and leaves above and in the rustle of the dense brush all around. Everything is quiet and the inhabitants of this part of the forest seem to have gone to ground. The party rests in a bower semi-sheltered from the rain, huddled together tightly.

In the morning, the rain has abated somewhat, at least enough to no longer be a miserable spirit-choking condition. As the party goes about breaking their meager camp, they see that attached to a few nearby trees are what appear to be human skulls, bound by crude grass ropes, daubed liberally with dark orange paint or perhaps long-dried blood. They spot several to the right side of the camp, al roughly pointed in the party's direction.

Please deduct one day's rations apiece.

Naila's condition has worsened slightly during the day's travel: she has lost one more HP.

"That's certainly a discomforting sign, especially without our mage to protect us. I think we need to get out of these woods as soon as we can. Hopefully another day's travel should get us back into the moors."

When you say to the right of the camp, does that mean on the western side, assuming we are facing southwest?

"Roughly pointed in the party's direction." Can we tell if the skulls are arranged as a "Keep out!" warning meant to ward us off from the direction we're heading, or some other direction?

To the right given your direction of travel. i.e. presumably northwest if you are traveling southwest.

The skulls are pointed roughly to the southeast, and look grim and imposing. There are no words associated with them, so they are what they are. If they are wards, they seem to be warding the area to the (presumably) northwest).

"I don't like the look of those skulls either. Should we head a little more to the south for a while, to avoid that place? Perhaps we can find a better place to lie low for a day. I don't know how much Naila can take."

1 days ration deducted.
