Theo prods at the remains with his longbow, looking to identify the species of victim and see if it was carrying anything of interest. He clears his throat to get his comrade's attention and points to the area above. Um... more black goo up here. Not in a circle though.

Zuhma’s Sewer Quest
Process Of Elimination

Theo points out the black spots on the ceiling as he pokes through the humanoid remains mixed within the stone rubble. He finds nothing of value, as these remains appear to be very old, actually crumbling under even the lightest touch.

The trapped Elf Elroie shows a hint of relief after Andron suggests they will help him, nodding along with his questions, answering them even after his inquisitor moves away from the bars. "The torches in this dungeon must be magical, as they give off no heat or smoke, and never go out. We found them like that in other rooms as well. Did you not notice the lack of smoke or smell when you first arrived?"

"Sadly, my sustenance seems to be another magical application of this place, as a disgusting bowl of grey gruel and pitcher of dirty water appears inside here thrice a day, I believe. Eating it is.....as unpleasant as it sounds."

He hangs his head in possible embarrassment after being asked what provoked the tentacle. "Yes, well.......that was probably my fault. When we couldn't figure out what the black circles were, I purposefully poked my sword into it, to see what would happen. Dear gods, did my foolish action set off a chain reaction that ended up getting my entire party killed in here?"

When Andron peers into the mirror on the wall, he sees common letters appear behind his reflection, just as Feanol did. They spell out the following message.

Stab The Heart Of Stone
With The Dagger Of Bone
For Those Trapped Inside
Freedom Will Be Known

Responding to Elroie, "I suspected as such, but I haven't had opportunity to examine these torches more closely. I think we may have discovered the method of your release in this mirror, though..." He grabs the nearby magical torch from the wall and ushers Feanol and BJ into the larger room.

"Gather round please, everyone." He explains who and what Feanol discovered in the room. "I suspect that slit in the floor is the heart of stone and that one of the golden armoured skeletons must possess the dagger. I suggest we split up and examine the two out here and the one in the mirror room, although I fear what we seek is in the room with that purple ... thing."

He moves back into the mirror room to examine the skeletal statue there for any daggers, but pauses in the doorway momentarily, "I suggest that we not touch anything on them, yet."

Maag

"Dagger of Bone?" says Maag from somewhere nearby. "I reckon dat would be a great name for a troupe of bards. Lots of blokes wiv big 'air thrashin' lutes an' a mad bloke whackin' a drum".

"Yer probably right about dat dagger",
he tells Andron. "Nuffin' is ever just layin' around".

"I am goin' to go back to dat room an' see if dat purple fing knows dat I am there".

Maag heads back across the main room and gently and invisibly tries to ease back through the door.

Maag jumps in surprise as Theo sneaks up on him. He abandons his attempt to get back in the room.

"Theo, mate. Der are two fings dat will 'appen if yer start talkin' to someone who is not der. Either der bad guys will know dat der is an invisible bloke wanderin' around. Or yer will get locked up in a padded room".

Theo
Sorry, wasn't watching the map closely enough. n00b error.
[Inside the room] Maag? A young backwoodsman ranger eases beyond the doorway into the room, casting the light of his glowing sword around. The room is too wide to see every wall and corner. The young hayseed orc and goblin fighter backs away and swings the door to. But inadvertently leaves a crack for sound to enter and exit to room....

[Outside in the passageway, grumbling to himself] Just like the last time, everybody runnin helter skelter, lookin for treasure and magical things on their own. And one room already horribly trapped with a crossbow bolt as strong as the force of a horse galloping at full speed... One loss already. Dammit Maag, say where you're goin before you go.... I've had just about enough of this shite. He winks. Not knowing if it was visible from that direction, of course.

Zuhma’s Sewer Quest
Process Of Elimination

Andron ushers BJ and Feanol out into the entry hall before moving back into the doorway himself. Elroie watches in confusion, unsure if the group intends to help him out or not. "I assure you I am no threat to any of you. If you have discovered some clue in the mirror, maybe you could share what it is with me and together we can figure out a solution? I desperately wish to be freed from this prison."

Without actually touching them, Alordan sees nothing that resembles a dagger of any kind on either of the two golden skeletons in the main room.

Maag and Theo have an odd moment between them at the doorway to the next room. Neither sees any bone daggers on the weird golden statue in that room either.

BJ seems perplexed by the current situation. "Why would Stalks even keep a dungeon such as this? There must be more to this place than initially meets the eye. But what? And why? We agreed to seek out his neglected library, but this is certainly not it."

Certain things will go very badly soon, Torbath continues to keep watch in the room with his companions.

"It is a fair question, Miss BJ. Perhaps you would share your research that led us to this place?"

He tells Elroie of the riddle in the mirror, and the contents of the surrounding rooms, including the slit in the floor. "I am not keen on a physical examination of these skeletons for that dagger, though. From where in the marketplace did your party enter the dungeon?"

I can respond to the dialog here quick.....

The Ethereal Marketplace
Zuhma’s Sewer Quest
Process Of Elimination

Torbath sees nothing stuck within the narrow slit in the stone floor, though the void does indeed seem to be about the same size as a common dagger blade.

BJ answers Andron. "I won't be giving up any of my sources, but I have heard on very good authority that Stalks likes to scatter his treasures across many different stash areas. I believe he is worried about someone like me making a huge score against him. I was told the passage we took led to such a place, a defunct library of sorts, where Stalks stores his magical books and other writings. But this doesn't seem like the place that was described to me at all yet. Perhaps there is more to find beyond the next doors?"

Still trapped behind his iron bars, Elroie answers as well. "Marketplace? I'm afraid I don't follow you. As I said, my group entered this part of the dungeon from the level above."

After hearing about the details of the other rooms, he continues. "I was thrust through one of these black portals and nearly died in the process. Perhaps the remains below the black hole in the opposite room can shed some light on this dilemma?"

Responding to BJ, "One door remains unopened ... in the room with that purple thing. It is also trapped. Presumably something of value lies beyond."

He pauses before responding to Elroie. He was expecting the elf's answer, just unsure how to reply. "I see ... allow me to me rephrase my question ... can you describe the area around the dungeon's entrance? I don't think we found anything unusual in that pile of debris, but we can certainly double check."

Elroie looks sideways at Andron after he refers to the remains beneath the black hole as "debris", but he answers his question anyway. "We found the entrance to this dungeon located in some ancient ruins deep within the Shivering Forest. By your questioning, I assume you used a different entrance?"

"I love valuable things." BJ jokes as she moves towards the door Maag is guarding, actually bumping into the thug when she goes to open it back up. "Oh! Excuse me there big guy. Could I get a look inside?"

Torbath finds lots of things made of bones in the rubble, but they are all just bones. Theo fishes around some more, but also finds nothing but old bones strewn among the broken rock from the ceiling. Looking back to the black patches in the stone above his head, he spots evidence of this cave-in being deliberate, as there are clear pick marks etched in the stone where the worst damage exists.

"Yes, we did ..." He starts slowly, in response to Elroie's explanation. "This will probably come as a shock, but you are on the Ethereal plane. We entered this dungeon from what is known as the Ethereal Marketplace. If we can get you out of here, we know of a tavern with magic portals to different worlds. There may be a portal to where you came from. Does your world have a name?"

As he speaks, he moves to examine the gargoyle in this room more closely.
