Adelphocles
The prince grunts a little as he takes an arrow to the................................................... flank. He refuses the be destracted and continues to rain arrows on the charging men, always aiming for the closest ones hoping to trip others and break the charge as they fall.
Round 2:
Hold steady! Do not let your hearts falter! Now is our best chance to break their attack!
Composit Long Bow [1d20+3]=10+3=13 DMG [1d8]=2
Composit Long Bow [1d20+3]=14+3=17 DMG [1d8]=4

Not sure if this can apply but hoping Adel can rally a few soldiers to fight with his speech and actions:

Re: Along the Border Watch
Round 1:
The orcs are here!
We have no fear!
Our trousers dry and purpose clear!
We'll skin their flanks
Destroy their ranks!
And send then scuttling to the banks
To row away from shooooooore!
Kranston belts out his extemporaneous song as he beats his drum, glancing at the fraidy cat soldier and winking at the appropriate verse.
Round 2:
His song now taken hold, Kranston will take up his sling with a cry of "For Eustace!" and fitting it with a runed stone from his pouch, loose a volley at the oncoming horde as soon as any are in range:
Attack with Sling Bullet +1 (THAC0=19): [1d20+1]=13+1=14, Damage vs. s/m: [1d4+2]=1+2=3 vs. L: [1d6+2]=1+2=3

Re: Along the Border Watch
Northern Furyondy, 585 CY, the month of Patchwall, Godsday 11 - Waterday 19, Late Evening...Arrows, Applied Liberally!
Rounds 2 & 3...On the Dark Side of Town
Ignoring the pain in his ass, and the bandits charging toward them, Adelphocles tries to rally the townsfolk.
Hold steady! Do not let your hearts falter! Now is our best chance to break their attack! he says while drawing and firing into the bandits, wounding one man and dropping another.
See them fall? They cannot stand before us! Have heart men of Furyondy!
He fires again and yet again, dropping two more of the bandits.
Nearby, Sai hums a happy tune he learned from his favorite childhood teacher, a wizened elf known simply as "Bon." While he hums, he fires arrows, one of which skewers a shouting bandit right in the mouth!
Having missed with a second shot, Sai slings his bow over his shoulder and summons a spell from his memory. He sends out a call to the green...and it answers him by sprouting vines thick and thorny up and around the charging bandits! Several are grappled and held fast, unable to proceed with what was most definitely going to be a night of raping and pillaging a poor, hapless village, while gorging themselves on fresh deer meat.
A few arrows, however, are fired before the bandits are entangled, two of which find their marks in Elf and Centaur flesh.
Bandit fire: [1d20]=9 [1d20]=9 [1d20]=14 [1d20]=19
Bandit arrows: [1d6]=5 (Sai) [1d6]=4 (Adel)
Rounds 2...Down by the River
The orcs are here!
We have no fear!
Our trousers dry and purpose clear!
We'll skin their flanks
Destroy their ranks!
And send then scuttling to the banks
To row away from shooooooore!
While men are catching fire and pissing themselves with fear, the strains of encouragement rise above the din of battle. Kranston's singing and drumming actually begins to lift spirits and calm bowels and the motley crew of Fort Disaster begin to fight fire with fire!
Almost as one, men atop the wall begin to draw and fire arrows into the Orcs and Ogres who are landing and charging the fort with murderous intent! Among the men are our brave heroes of the Border Watch.
"I need more oil up here!" Cassius hollers over his shoulder as he draws and fires and draws and fires, focusing on one of the three Ogres which is running toward the fort. He sinks two arrows deep into the flesh of the creature, one in its broad chest, another in its neck, and it falls to the ground twitching in death!
Nearby, Montego shouts as he fires: "IF YOU PANSIES WANT TO LIVE, I SUGGEST YOU GROW A PAIR AND DEFEND YOURSELVES AND YOUR FRIENDS AS YOU NEVER HAVE BEFORE!!!"
His first arrow misses but his second drives an Orc to its knees.
The orc scum have arrived!!! Mulgarr hollers as he becomes an arrow-firing machine! His first arrow flies high, but then he zeroes in and Orcs start dropping!
Suddenly, the river is lit up like a firework display...when what looks like sizzling missiles of energy flash from the top of the tower to kill Orcs in their tracks! If one but looks up at the tower, they see a cloaked figure there hurling spells at the intruders from the lands of Iuz. (Wisdom check for those looking...)
As the remaining Orcs fire arrows at the men on the wall, the Ogres hurl large rocks > one sailing over the wall and landing harmlessly in the rubble, and one smashing into the edge of the wall...causing a large portion of the wall itself to break loose and fall! The wall drops out from under two men in between Cassius and Muldgarr!
"Gods help us!" they cry reaching for the two archers.
(Need DEX checks from Cassius & Muldgarr, followed by STR checks to make sure they hold on...and are not pulled off the ledge themselves!)
Maps added!!
Descriptors as follows:
AD = Adelphocles
CS = Cassius
KR = Kranston
MD = Muldgarr
MO = Montego
SAI = take a guess?
The dark orange dots near the river are the Orcs with the Ogres 1, 2, & 3. An "X" marked through them means they are dead.
The green "X's" along the wall are the soldiers of the fort; they are about two men deep with more running around the courtyard putting out fires and generally shitting themselves with fear.
Adelphocles and Sai are among the homes of the village while the bright orange dots represent the bandits; most of whom are entangled.

"Ogres first! Yes, of course!" yells Kranston. He squints and sights in the nearest ogre (O3) lumbering towards the wall, his sling twirling above his head, then releases:
Attack with Sling Bullet (THAC0=19): [1d20]=20, Damage vs. s/m: [1d4+1]=4+1=5 vs. L: [1d6+1]=4+1=5

Re: Along the Border Watch
Northern Furyondy, 585 CY, the month of Patchwall, Godsday 11 - Waterday 19, Late Evening...Ogres, Orcs & Bandits...Oh My!
While Adelphocles continues to fire on the remaining bandits, Sai tosses a pinch of sand into the air and casts another spell...this one puts the bandits he can see to sleep...even some of the ones entangled!
A sound to his right alerts Sai and he wheels, perhaps thinking he is about to be attacked...but instead he sees a child peering at him from the corner of a small house. The child's eyes are wide with a mixture of fear and awe. "Are you...are you a great wizard, sir?" he asks as he wipes the snot from his nose.
A few yards away at the fort...Montego is momentarily distracted by the spells being cast from the tower, but he recovers quickly when an arrow zips by his head. "FIRE AT THE OGRES FIRST, MEN! WE NEED TO TAKE THEM DOWN BEFORE THIS WHOLE DAMN WALL FALLS!!!"
The ranger draws and fires quickly, putting two arrows into the closest Ogre (O1), but it doesn't really slow the creature down much.
Cassius dives and grabs the falling soldier's hand, holding on, muscles straining, in an effort to save one more life in this madness of a war. Across from him, Muldgarr does the same, but can barely keep himself from being pulled off the wall with the man who is twisting and turning in his grip. Other men along the wall, grab hold of Cassius and Muldgarr, pulling them as they in turn pull the men they've saved back onto firm footing. Naturally the two men are quite grateful, profusely thanking the Elves for their lives. Cassius says nothing, unusually quiet for the talkative barhop. Montego does the talking for both, saying, That was closer than what I’d like it to be!
Then the pair turn their eyes and actions back to the enemy, who is intent on killing every last person at this fort!
"Ogres first! Yes, of course!" Kranston yells, heeding Montego's advice, whipping a stone at the closest Ogre (O3)...and jumping for joy when the stone hits the Ogre right between the eyes! (Critical! 10 dmg!)
The Ogre howls as blood gushes from the wound. It hops around for a bit, but then spying the Dwarf, it yells some curses and threats and charges the wall. With a leap it drives a piece of iron into a crack in the stones about 15 feet up the wall...a little over halfway. Then with its other hand, it drives another piece of iron into the wall...and begins to climb!
The Orcs who are still alive return fire upon the fort defenders, dropping three men from the wall, and wounding five others, including Kranston!
Orc Archers: [1d20]=5 [1d20]=19 [1d20]=14 [1d20]=8; Orc Archers: [1d20]=14 [1d20]=12 [1d20]=12 [1d20]=20; Orc Archers: [1d20]=13 [1d20]=13 [1d20]=8 [1d20]=19; Orc Archers: [1d20]=15 [1d20]=8 [1d20]=10 [1d20]=4
Chance to be hit is 25% > Kranston: Chance to be hit 25%: [1d100]=89 = Arrow damage: [1d6]=4
Chance for Muldgarr, Cassius, & Montego: Chance to be hit 25%: [1d100]=31 [1d100]=59 [1d100]=64 ; all get missed this round.
Actions for the next round!
The bandits seems pretty much contained...the Orcs and Ogres, however, are about to claim the fort!

Yes, Boy I am a Wizard. Now go inside and stay safe.
He then moves towards the walls.
Adelphocles go and tie them up. Or Apply the Laws of Nature- Survival of the Fittest. They will only stay asleep for a shot time.
Climbs the wall near the wagons.

Re: Along the Border Watch
Wincing, Kranstön will look to see if he can topple a loose stone on the head of the climbing ogre. If not, he will jab at it with his quarterstaff:
Attack with Quarterstaff (THAC0=20): [1d20]=9, Damage s/m/L: [1d6]=2

Re: Along the Border Watch
Adelphocles wishes he had time for prisoners but instead he shoulders his bow and charges out to trample the sleeping bandits while staying clear of the entanglement, his lance couched in his arm in case any come in range who are not yet entangled, sleeping, or gods will, fleeing.

Re: Along the Border Watch
Though he normally loathes using up any of his magical items, Montego knows this is about to be a life and death decision, making it a little easier to pull out his magic potion.
Quaffing the elixir that should make him even bigger than the approaching beast currently climbing up the wall, the ranger readies his massive sword. As soon as the potion kicks in, he leans over the side of the wall directly over the top of the ogre, trying to smack it off the wall before it gets to the top.
Attack w/ 2 Handed Sword [1d20+3]=10+3=13 Damage [1d10+5]=10+5=15 Man I hope that hits!!!

Re: Along the Border Watch
Cassius
Shaking his head at the time lost to helping humans, Cassius retrains his bow at the nearest Ogre (O1). With rapid action he fires again and again at the beast.
Longbow (18): [1d20+3]=11+3=14
Longbow damage: [1d8+6]=3+6=9
Longbow (18): [1d20+3]=7+3=10
Longbow damage: [1d8+6]=4+6=10
Longbow (18): [1d20+3]=3+3=6
His arm is more out of sorts after that human dangled from it.

Re: Along the Border Watch
In my way of viewing potions, it takes almost no time to drink one, so Montego will get his action at the end of the round. Cool?

Winter is coming...
