Quest #12 "Rapping With The Village People"
Re: Quest #12 "Rapping With The Village People"
Wes
Limping and staggering along with the group, Wes takes a look over at where Chauncey is pointing. He knows that he doesn't have much magic left to influence the battle, but tries to consider how he may help. He looks to his companions for clues.
"I can cover the enemy in fairy light, make 'em easier to hit" Wes croaks. "Or bring the trees and vines to life to hold them all, until you go across to join in".

Yeah, grab them! I think that bastard's got friends coming.
Luther ties his rope to his harpoon, then throws it at a tree across the river. His intent is to create a guide rope so people can cross without being swept away.

Re: Quest #12 "Rapping With The Village People"
Seeking Out The Village People
Godsday, 2nd of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
The group races to get near Alordan so they can lend aid. They watch his situation gets considerably worse.
The good ranger decides to continue his attack on the man, even though he was only defending himself. The man shifts his footing again suddenly, causing Alordan to overswing and lose his balance. The man kicks the ranger hard in his ass, causing him to slip back down the muddy bank. He sounds his device again and the whistling suddenly stops as the man that Monocar and Luther were chasing appears from out of the bush.
The sailor holds the point of his blade to Alordans neck as he tries to regain his footing.
"Like I said, we are not cold blooded killers like you. How about we just put this little misunderstanding behind us and move on?"
The other man approaches and hangs his head as he reports some bad news.
"I don't give a shit about Marcus, but........they got Billy."
The man looks back down at Alordan in disgust.
"On second thought......"
He stabs his sword deep into Alordans neck and shoulder, causing a thick gout of blood to spurt out into the mud and nearly killing the ranger. 7 dam
Certain he is about to be finished off by the next man, Alordan breaths in a mouthful of his own blood. It runs out over his teeth and down the front of his chin in a grizzly scene. But the man does not draw his sword, instead grabbing his friend by the arm and turning back towards the bush. "Forget it, man. They're coming, we need to beat it!"
Luther harpoons his rope to the other side of the river and it gets tangled in some branches. He pulls it tight, creating a means to pull himself easily through the rivers current.

Wes
Gritting his teeth and taking a deep breath to bring the world back into focus again, Wes prepares to summon the power of The Shalm to bring the bushes and vines to life and entrap the two pirates. He pauses as he sees one of them begin to turn and flee. If they turn and run, Wes is prepared to let them go. If they stay to attack Luther and Alordan, he will unleash his magic.

Monocar
Monocar's eyes go wide when he sees the two men attack his friend. Not seeing a good way across just yet he looks at his feel for rocks or sticks that might prove good for throwing. Then he gets an idea. "Should we toss the hobbit across?" He looks at LF hopefully.

Chauncey considers launching the longest dart attack of his life in an effort to aid the hapless ranger, but feels certain, positively certain he will miss and accidentally finish him off. "I believe in you, fellow party members. You can save him, I know it," he says.

Seeking Out The Village People
Godsday, 2nd of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
Monocar can barely contain himself when another chance to toss a fellow party member presents itself. He reaches out to try to pick up the tiny thief as Wes goes into a horrible coughing fit, eventually expectorating a chunk of something out of him that starts to move of its own accord.
Lightfinger sends a dead-on sling shot across the river that hits one of the men in the back of his head as they are turning to leave. He staggers forward, and the sound of the thunk is satisfying to hear, but the man does not fall. The pair disappears into the foliage while Alordan bleeds out in the muck.
Luther yanks himself across the river on his rope as fast as he possibly can to save their friend. 2 rounds pass He gets to his fellow woodsmen in time to staunch his horrible neck wound before he bleeds out. The wound is grievous, but hopefully it won't be the one that kills him. The ranger stands there looking at the others on the opposite bank, wondering how they will get the badly wounded Alordan back to safety.

”Did we ground a raft? If so, we must get a pole from upstream and set out with the additional aid of Luther’s rope to make our way across,” says Chauncey. ”In this way we might ferry Alordan to safety.”

Points upstream where the poles are sitting by the dock, remembering his mistake from earlier. Someone run grab a couple poles and I will work on freeing that raft over the covered in the sticky white... well... whatever it is Chauncey did all over that man... We can row across and get the rangers and bring them back here. That being said he dashes over to the raft covered in webs and sees about cutting away the webs.

Lightfinger curses.
Curses! He stomps his foot in frustration. The absolute best, most spectacular shot of his young life, and it wasn't enough to bring a bandit down. I knew those guys were dirty! I say next time we kill first and ask questions later!

Ah! Yes, the poles! The incident seemingly forgotten, the Hobbit dashes away, his sling still in hand.Someone run grab a couple poles

"Bring more than one". advises the Druid, before Lightfinger goes too far. "We can use them to make a travois for Alordan". Then he sways and almost falls before clutching onto Chauncey for support.

Seeking Out The Village People
Godsday, 2nd of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
The quick thinkng and sheer bravery of action from the Big Bear saves the life of his fellow ranger, but his grievous wound is sure to cause more problems unless it can be taken care of quickly.
Monocar uses his brute strength to free the only remaining raft from the webs and tangled branches. As he pulls it up to the trail, a few of the long poles are also retrieved from the clearing. Together, and with much toil, the group finally gets the nearly dead Alordan back to the relative safety of the river trail. The crushed clavicle bone and wide gash in the man's neck is not easy to look upon, and it is already starting to turn a greenish white color. Unable to do anything else to heal the poor human, Wes has all he can do to keep from passing out himself.
The afternoon rolls along. Darkness will be upon the group soon enough.

The ranger says nothing more, just begins lashing together poles to create a stretcher.
When it is ready, he gently lays Alordan on it. Monocar, get the other end of this. Time to move, folks!

Re: Quest #12 "Rapping With The Village People"
Chauncey may be a buffoon, but he is no dummy. He knows when it's time to call it a day. He also recognizes that they need to get Alordan back to the village where perhaps he can be healed this very night. He falls in with the others when they start the hustle back, being quite a bit hardier than one would expect of a magic user, though he is still somewhat exhausted from last night and the events of today. If anything he supposes Wes may not be up to the trek back and considers offering the druid a piggy-back ride, but then thinks better of it...

Wes grits his teeth, wipes the sweat from his eyes and thanks Obad Hai that it is not him on the stretcher. The druid puts his arm around Chauncey's shoulder for support as they all begin the trek back to Beachtown.
