Re: IC VIII
Rhys leaps the hole, his manly mystical abilities allowing him to perform the feat with prowess and panache. Reaching the limits of the lamplight he dons the magical lenses. Blinking a few times as his eyes adjust to the strangeness of heatvision he notes the corridor stretching off into the distance, further than the limits of his magically enhanced vision.

Rhys the Traveler
Assuming he hears nothing to indicate danger, and he sees no movement or obvious heat signatures, he presses forward...

Re: IC VIII
Rhys ventures down the hallway. After sixty feet he perceives, at the very end of his vision, that the hallway turns to the north. As he notes this, however, he trips over a slender cord placed ankle high across the hallway. Either he was too intent upon what lay before him, or unused to his new vision, but a beat or two after stumbling he hears a clatter in the distance, from around the corner before him!

Re: IC VIII
Rhys the Traveler
Rhys curses himself silently again and stops as he feels the wire snap and hears a noise ahead.
He listens for any additional sound coming from ahead. If he hears anything at all, he hightails it back to the hole...

Re: IC VIII
Rhys listens a moment and soon hears the sound of voices -- unhuman voices, at that -- yipping at each other and calling in strange, dog-like ululations. He hightails it down the corridor and leaps the hole, intending to inform the others what has transpired.
Re: IC VIII
Lanny the elf
Lanny clears out of the way as Rhys comes flying around the corner and leaps over the hole. He listens carefully as the mystic quickly relates what happened.
"Well... they are not undead, for undead do not speak. Did you recognize the type of creature, and could you tell how many voices you heard?"
Lanny tries to decide whether to retreat to the south or to make a stand. He turns to his companions.
"We have missile weapons and spells at our disposal... shall we fight or shall we flee?"

Re: IC VIII
Drudsa the dabbler
"Dog-like voices, most likely kobolds. I say we stay and meet them if they come this far."
If the group decides to stay Drudsa will ready his sling and shoot at any creatures coming within sight.

Re: IC VIII
Rhys the Traveler
Rhys shakes his head in the negative,"No, I did not recognize the language, nor could I tell the numbers. Of creatures that sound like yipping dogs, I know of maybe one kind of sub terrain dweller, the kobold, that my traveling brother have told stories about upon their return to the abbey. But I've never seen one in person..."

Re: IC VIII
Tratiln muses, "I wonder if they made the put or if the put was put there to keep them out?"
Re: IC VIII
Lanny the elf
Lanny nods at Rhys.
"If indeed they are kobolds, our group is already well acquainted with their ilk... I agree with Drudsa, let's make a stand right here."
Lanny quickly attempts to organize an ambush.

Bregalad the elf
Bregalad looks at the dark pit in front of the group, and then down the narrow hall behind them. "Let us hope that we are not attacked from both sides in this narrow hall of traps. I prefer we withdraw to more open space, like the intersection or pedestal room."
"Otherwise, yes, arrows and sling stones would be our best plan for here. Or I can welcome any leapers with this....." The elf raises the head of his masterwork spear, glinting sharply in the torchlight.

Innana the Fighter:
Innana quickly ties her mass of thick red curls behind her head, and pulls out the sword from its sheath, and levels her shield in front of her. "I would feel better with a magic user, and a healer on each side to back up the fighters, just in case we have something attacking us from both directions."

Lanny attempts to quickly organize the ambush.
"Right! Bowmen to the front! Innana, watch the southern corridor! Spellcasters, be ready with Sleep!"

Re: IC VIII
The companions ready themselves. Moments later, a group of a half dozen or so kobolds thunder around the corner! They are dressed in rags and hides, and brandish wicked looking short javelins. The creatures skid to a halt when they see the line of determined, hardened adventurers facing them and begin jabbering in shrill, dog-like barks whilst waving their weapons threatening.

Rhys the Traveler
"Put them to sleep, while they are bunched together!" Rhys hisses a whisper back to Traitiln.

Bregalad the elf
Bregalad crouches low behind his shield, his spear set into the ground and ready to meet any kobold who dares to leap across the dark span before them.
