Avastan: Planetfall
Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Frank
Over comms:
"Heads up Gaughan, I don't think you're the target, but you may have have incoming"
In the room:
"Freya, any chance we can use their activity to narrow down their location, Hawkeye in particular ?"
I'm assuming the active jam will only affect RF comms, the laser link is good?

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Gaughan states he's minutes away from the Club.
Sensor Ops Roll from Freya please as per the above.
OOC: Yes as above. Laser can only be disrupted or jammed by physically disrupting the beam (e.g. local conditions like snow/dust or deliberate placement of anti laser aerosol (effectively bespoke "dust") or chaff ("sand" from a ship's sandcaster) onto the path of the comms beam. This last is of course more or less useless against portable/mobile laser comms which simply move to obtain a clear LOS).
Sensor Ops Roll from Freya please as per the above.

Kit
Kit keeps his head down, hoping against hope they are not planning on stopping him and will look like he is struggling to carry out the wounded. (With a Plan B and B if they are.)

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
The centre pair in the cordon close on the halted Prerna and Jess. Meanwhile their buddies move in from the flanks nearing Kit one of the flankers cups his hand to his mouth to shout at Kit "Hey you! Hold it right there!"
The centre pair shove through the thinning crowd to confront the two women. The primary shouts at Prerna "Halt! Put that man down!" while his buddy puts his ACR to his shoulder.

Kit
"So glad you are here to help us! Where is the medical transport? I think that there are still active shooters in there! So much for a night on the town, this is just crazy! Are you going to help us or go in a stop the shooter?", Kits says in a slightly excited tone, closing his distance to the speaking solider.

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Prerna stops and takes in the tactical situation. "You have no authority here, Imperial. These men attacked us, and they are now our prisoners. Step aside." Her Sword World accent stands out strongly as she confronts the Imperials.Tiglath wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 6:43 pm The centre pair in the cordon close on the halted Prerna and Jess. Kit (NB This event happens simultaneously with the next post)
The merc addressed by Kit replies “Medevac's here buddy – we're it. I'll take that guy from here. You mind the locals now”. He seems to then be momentarily distracted saying “Comm check”.
Kit hears a single low velocity burst of autofire - not close maybe a klik away and his team comms drop out.
(OOC: For reference Kit is easily within 10 metres of Jess and Prerna).

All Kickin' it Outside da Club (this event happens simultaneously with the two posts above)
The nearest Imperial merc clearly doesn't appreciate Prerna's attitude and responds with “Fekkin' Swordy bitch – you're coming with us!” He brings his ACR up to the aim.
The away team's radio comms dropout into static as the mercs hear a single distant burst of low velocity autofire. The advancing merc nearest Prerna suddenly relaxes his martial stance and just sighs out a little cloud of red mist into Avastan's cold night air. His eyes go blank as he stumbles forwards and pitches into Prerna - stone dead. She can smell barbecue and the acrid tang of melted asphalt. In the same moment his buddy, who was covering him, spasms briefly and collapses - dead. A small flame dances on one of the new scorch marks on his plate carrier.
A miniature fist sized sun blazes across the plaza from a high rise tower about a kilometre away and punches clean through the hovering G Carrier showering molten debris from the far side. The explosion of superheated armour plate and the very fabric of the vehicle engulfs the crew one of whom visibly immolates. The ruined hulk of the barely airborne vehicle is then immediately riddled from stem to stern by a volley of explosive impacts which tear the hulk apart and then finally demolish it in one all consuming fireball. Burning chunks of both vehicle and the crew rain down across the square.
In the ambulance parked at the edge of the plaza the crew roll their eyes and phlegmatically ditch their cheap Avastan smokes to deal with the burning corpse now draped over their bonnet.
(OOC: A spot of New Year Striker...
The G Carrier suffers hits exceeding its AV and resulting in Major Penetrations as follows:
Attack #1: Roll(1d6)+0: 3,+0 Total:3 EPF3C Electronic (Sensors Destroyed), Power Plant Disabled (Grav switches to auto descend), Fuel TL 8+ so no effect, All three Crew are hit with minimum 2d6+10 (less AV) on the wound table. Collectively they are not going to be happy campers...
Attack #2(1): Roll(1d6)+0: 1,+0 Total:1 EST4C Electronic (Avionics Destroyed), Suspension Hit (loses ¼ total thrust), Transmission Hit (grav vehs can only go up or down), All three Crew hit again this time at +13 (and one twice!!!) If I were a doctor I'd say it's going to end in a negative patient care outcome...
Attack #2(2): Roll(1d6)+0: 6,+0 Total:6 The vehicle suffers a Catastrophic Hit and is destroyed, all crew are killed (again again).

Prerna does her best to avoid being knocked over by the merc's falling corpse.Tiglath wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 10:47 pm All Kickin' it Outside da Club (this event happens simultaneously with the two posts above)

Jess smiles as the troopers fall. "Bin ere before" she thinks to herself.
Sug, grab that mush's rifle an' cover us. Keep an eye on matey over there, 'e looks this way, light 'im up.
Snatching up the rifle of the other trooper, Jess takes aim at the merc near Kit and, if he tries to stop him, fires without warning.
edited to allow the possibility of quiet escape

Re: Avastan: Planetfall
Here we go - a New Year treat especially for you!

Dubs claims the active jamming is centred within a city block about one klik away from Club Zoo/the plaza where the team are now.
Frank will have laser comms to one of the group who's cover and clubbing outfit would best allow possession and concealment of the relatively small milspec laser comm. (So Kit??? or Able in one of the waiting ground vehicles parked in the vicinity).
Frank will no doubt have received a tactical update from whoever has the laser comm.
OOC: The test can possibly be refined / improved but that's all Dubs has for now.
Happy New Year's Day to all!

"Update appreciated. They're got eyes about a klik to your <direction>, that's the jamming source. Gaughan, what's your ETA?"
let's let gurusql decide if Kit or Abel have the comms.
Happy New Year indeed!

"That's a good idea," Prerna says. She totes her payload over to their vehicle and drops him on the vehicle's floor. The Bindoner wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 8:12 pmBest keep movin', Major, get the casualties out've sight in the vehicle ready to roll out. I'll hold here 'an evac the Lef'ten'nt.

Dubs patches through a tight beam communication for Frank from a callsign “Rogue's Gallery” which identifies as 4DC Merc Command. Before opening the line Dubs adds “My hunch - this is from orbit or deeper out system rather than local, sir”.
Frank recognises the caller as Col. Skeet of 4DC – he sounds cheerful but businesslike “Colonel Cross, a courtesy call. I have some recon assets in what I believe to be the current operational area of your some of your units. Now, I'm sure they'll all play nicely together but I prefer not to leave things to chance. We're currently committed to as low an operational profile as we can maintain but if we can assist you or your people on the ground then we will”.
