Chauncey notes the fist-sized stone affixed to the chief shaman's staff with pointed interest. "That stone, Bonnie, is the key to the next obelisk, I am certain. I activated this one with another of its kind. We must ally with this chieftain and obtain its use." he says quietly. For the moment, he continues to show reverence to the structure and observe, not sure what the protocol is for initiating dialog with chiefs of lizard man tribes.

Cealwyn Blackthorn
"I doubt this does any good," Cealwyn mutters under his breath, "but here goes." He recalls his lizard-speech and conjures up what he hopes is a suitable greeting.
"Hail and well met," he says with a deferential nod to the robed lizard before resuming his attitude of reverence toward the obelisk.

Luther
I'm going to scout the perimeter- see if I can find out anything else. He begins a slow, counter-clockwise trip around the edges of the clearing, staying at least 10 feet back from the treeline. He'll be making stops at each hut, and the 'well', to carefully look them over.

Bonnie
Bonnie nods at Chauncey and taps the side of her nose. "Gotcha."
She continues bowing and chanting in a murmur, going along with the crowd. At regular intervals, she tries to examine what the obelisk is made of and starts moving slowly around to the west side, careful to not step up on the platform.
As she tries to make her way around to read the sign, she gets a close look at some of the slizard people. She's trying to determine if there are different genders.

The Obelisk
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
Avaala nearly rushes after the others when they are ushered to the stone platform surrounding the obelisk, but catches himself last second. Luther starts towards the huts, trying to slide his way around the clearing for a better look at their surroundings. Just as he starts pulling away from the others, Paul inquires,
"you want I should come with you?"
Chauncey spots the smooth sphere atop the shamans rod, thinking he knows exactly what it might be. He continues praying towards the center of the clearing, watching the orange clad slizard across from him. Cealwyn attempts communication, but the scaly chanters don't seem to understand the man. They continue bowing and hissing in the same strange manner.
Bonnie nods her understanding to the mage, slinking around towards the west for a better look at the small placard on the face of the monolith. The lizard folk don't seem bothered by her moving around, as long as she continues with her charade of reverence. She makes sure to avoid touching the platform at all costs, noting that her hosts are watching closely if she gets near to it. The altar in the distance is difficult to see, but it very well could be the same material that the thief has seen earlier. The slizards nearby all look pretty similar, making it difficult to make out gender differences. None of them are currently eating, so their diet is also impossible to determine, but the creatures do appear to have a bony ridge of teeth inside their wide mouths. Their sparse clothing appears to be made of hide and not cloth, and their accouterments are primitive as well.
(Sorry for skipping that info in my last post, the update was getting too big)
Wes watches the strange orange shape atop the large hut in the distance. He rubs his eyes for a moment and shews away the nearest mosquitoes, wondering if his vision is playing tricks on him when he thinks he sees the bright shape move slightly.
Once Bonnie gets herself into a new praying position, she gets a better look at the sign on the obelisk. The image on the placard appears to be a fading red hand print of some kind.

Chauncey tries to make eye-contact with Bonnie to see if the contents of the plaque are alarming in any way.
Seeing that she is able to freely move around without being harassed, he will begin edging around the other side of the obelisk, all while chanting, to see what he may discover there.

Luther nods to Paul. As quiet as we can. He leads the way, cautiously.

Bonnie
Bonnie glances over at Chauncey and catches his eye. She shrugs and shakes her head, trying to convey non-concern. She does point to the platform and makes an x with her hands.
She continues moving around the platform, heading towards the altar. She tries to get a good look at the apparent chief and the rock he stands on.

Wes
Wes points out the orange thing to the others. "Do you see that moving? I wonder if it's a bird or a flying lizard that's nested up there. The color of the shaman's robes can't be a coincidence".
"If they've been worshipping whatever that thing is, and suddenly switched to worshipping the obilisk... ponders Wes. "Hopefully they haven't switched completely. I'd hate to have their old 'god' getting angry at this whole thing."

Grimm
"Hopefully that doesn't happen. I guess we can only stay and watch until something happens." He starts to worry about his companions bythe obelisk. Are they now joining the lizarmend in praying? "Do you think our friends there are praying at the obelisk just to blend?" He sees Bonnie's gestures to Chauncey. "Well, at least those two don't seem to have lost their wits." He points at them.

Cealwyn Blackthorn
He sends the other two a sideways glance to ascertain their whereabouts, then slowly eases in Bonnie's direction, following her example to move (hopefully) unmolested. All the while maintaining the charade of reverence.

The Obelisk
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
Bonnie tries to warn Chauncey not to touch the obelisks raised stone platform as she continues making her way towards the large black rock the shaman stands upon. She is now certain it is the same material the Stoneguts are amassing in Beachtown, but the large hump looks oddly out of place here all by itself in this distant clearing. Other than its familiarity, nothing else of interest about it is discovered. The shaman looks in her direction a few times, clearly keeping an eye on theses newcomers, but since they are making no threatening actions, he continues leading the others in their bizarre hissing and chanting.
Chauncey and Cealwyn continue showing veneration, following their scouts lead, edging slowly around to the west side of the circle where they also see the placard showing the fading red human hand print that is attached to the side of the obelisk.
Wes, Grimm, and Avaala stay hidden at the edge of the clearing, watching the orange shape on the big hut closely, while Luther and Paul slink along the western edge to see what they might find. It is slow going sneaking through the thick underbrush quietly, so they only get to the area where the smaller huts are. They don’t see anything there to cause them any concern.

Luther looks over the back of the hut, seeing nothing amiss. He whispers See anything? to Paul, then moves on.

Wes turns to Grimm and Avaala. "I think we've seen all we're going to see from here. I'm going to try and sneak around and get a closer look at that orange thing. Do you want to come with me?" Wes takes a few steps in that direction.

Avaala the Grey
Avaala nods at Wes' suggestion. "Just a second, though," he says as he looks to Treasure, wrapped across his shoulders. "What can you see? Can you make out much about that figure over there?" Avaala prepares to follow Wes, unless Treasure has some plan-altering observations.

The Obelisk
Sunday, 21st of Goodmonth
Late Afternoon, Hot, Humid, Buggy
Bonnie, Cealwyn, and Chauncey continue slinking around to the opposite side of the obelisk platform, all while continuing their facade of reverence. The slizards don't seem to pay them much mind, as long as they keep up with their chanting. They cant see into the dark opening into the larger hut, but they do get a closer look at the shaman slizard on the large black rock. They also get close enough to see the cage hanging over the rocky area in the northwest corner of the clearing. Inside the cage is a dark silhouette of a humanoid, but no details can be worked out from this distance.

Luther and Paul sneak past the first few smaller huts along the edge of the clearing, still not seeing much of interest in that area.
Wes, Avaala, and Grimm take off towards the eastern edge through the thick foliage, making it to the first hut without incident. They dont see anything there that piques their interest.

Bonnie
Continuing her reverence as she goes, Bonnie points to the cage and its occupant, making it clear that someone is in there. As she gets close enough to the large hut, she tries to identify what is on top.
Bonnie moves closer to the large rock and the shaman while also taking a step or two back from the circle. Slowly and carefully distancing herself just a bit.
I hate to do this, but it may be important soonish. Are there any slizards between her and the well? The picture has a few level with the chief, but the grid does not.
