Sir Crestbrook the Mighty

Before the touch went out we were at the entrance of the cave. Blackness...Torch light... Now we are here. What foul magic is going on here? He gently puts Cora to the ground next to him and then stares down the passage way in front of him.

Sir Crestbrook Detect evil

Lerrick

The cleric holds her mace tightly in her right hand as she tries to make sense of what just happened. The ring amulet keeps us here

Maag

Maag looks around at the unfamiliar stretch of tunnels. "Yer know, a bloke told me once dat gnomes never get lost under der ground 'cos dey always know which way is North". He pauses and looks around. "Don't suppose anybody's got a gnome 'andy 'ave dey?"

Maag reaches into his pouch for some charcoal to discreetly mark the base of the wall with. He turns to Saracen. "Got yer iron spike ready mate? Looks like we're back to der old routine."

"If anybody's interested in wot way I fink we should go, I reckon we go up dis tunnel 'ere between me an' Lerrick. It's as good as any of der others as far as I can tell."

Since Sir Crestbrook is carrying Cora, Maag retrieves his 10' pole from him and volunteers to lead the group.

Saracen scowls and looks angrily at Maag. No one ever listens to me! he grumbles, getting out his spike and handing it to Maag so he can climb upo the holy champion and scratch an arrow into the ceiling.

Put a 1 next to it would you this time, so we know which way we have tried first.

Looking at the giant spider webs he shivers, thinking back to the old ruins the pair had just vacated previously. Not again he murmurs, keeping his eyes peeled as the thug does his thing.

Saracen nods. Of course. But it’s done now, nonuse in crying over the milk once it’s spilled. I didn’t feel any magic but it can only have been that! We should never have come back in so unprepared, but what’s done is done. Now we have to find a way out and quickly. I have a good kind to smash the gem now myself!

Oh Oh
Freeday, 12th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Warm, Humid, Damp

Alordan is completely confused by the fact that the party has found themselves in a completely different place in this labyrinth of dark tunnels. When he searches the dust covered ground, he sees 2 different sets of tracks. One of them appears hooved, like those of a 2 legged bovine, and the other appear to be bare footed humanoid prints.

Lerrick blames the sudden change of events on the ring they found, even though the ring is really an amulet. She grips Cora's mace while Sir Crestbrook sets down his burden so he can check out the tunnel ahead for any evil emanations. When he concentrates on detecting for evil, all he sees is an image of the woman's carved owl holy symbol in his mind. For some reason, he cant tell if the tunnel contains evil or not.

Gramble and Saracen point out that the group should have left the body, but they don't dwell on this misfortune for very long. Maag suggests heading into the tunnel closest to him, taking his pole back from the Paladin so he can lead the way from here on out. It isn't long before they find a statue of another minotaur, this one looking rather upset about something. The statue is dirty and has more of the hanging spider webs clinging to it in several spots. The tunnel ahead branches off into 2 separate passages.

Alordan examines the prints to see if they match the size and shape of a minotaur statue. He also looks over at the poor dead girl to see if she has shoes on or the feet tracks match hers.

Maag

Maag inspects the two tunnels to see which, if any, of them looks to have more signs of spider webs than the other. He also tries to discern which of the two tunnels has more of the footprints travelling along it.

If both tunnels appear equal in these respects, he suggests travelling up the tunnel to his left. If there's evidence of one being more spidery, or more heavily traveled, he awaits the parties judgement.

He marks the junction in the usual ways.

Alordan peering into the dark away from the eyes of the group, he can't help but feel a bit embarrassed on how his decision has led to more trouble for the party. What the party sees after this, however, is Alordan handling and peering at the amulet once again - after he had put it away firmly.

Saracen draws his dagger and extends it towards the amulet. Slide it onto the blade there (through the chain if it has one) and let me see if you wouldn’t mind?” the warrior-priest says carefully.

If the ranger obliges then Saracen will place it on the ground and retrieve one of his pitons and use his shield to hammer it into the amulet to see if he can break it.

Alordan, now without the amulet is having second thoughts, "Wait - let's think this through. What if we smash it and things go from bad to worse? What if that amulet is keeping the statues..well, statues?"

Saracen shrugs. It turned a good priestess to evil. If the statues all come alive we fight our way out or die doing a necessary thing. We didn’t wanna come back in the first place. We made our choice, now we have to live with it. He steps aside to let the hammer do its thing.

ooc: I owe everyone in the party 10 sp for every time I mess up with the story line :?
That's 40 sp for everyone so far

Sir Crestbrook the Mighty

Destroy the amulet! Crestbrook bellows in a commanding voice. What can be worse than the situation we are in right now, although I for one am at ease with the decision we made that got us here. Getting Cora was the right and just thing to do. If there are enemies that stand before us and the exit of this retched place, you can bet my blade will see us through. Holding Cora with his left hand he thrust his sword upward. Oh...by the way, I don't detect anything of evil down this passageway. Visions of...Cora's owl-shaped holy symbol for some reason...I don't understand...

Lerrick

The cleric winces after the DM mentioned amulet instead of ring, then lets out a long heavy sigh. I agree. Let's try to destroy it now and worry about concequences later.

Maag

Maag winces at all the noise brought on by the sudden shouting and hammering. At the mention that destroying the amulet might turn the statues back into minotaurs, he slips around the corner so that he's not standing right in front of the one next to them.

Lot's of people seem to be fine wiv dyin' an 'eroic death. I s'pose if yer spent all dat money on shiny metal armor, yer probably wanna get yer money's worth out of it...

Kill The Amulet?
Freeday, 12th of Goodmonth

Marking the tunnel here again, Maag has a hard time determining which passage might be the best one to continue searching. They all look so similar.

Alordan finds the hooved tracks to be a perfect match to the minotaur statue, but Cora's incredibly clean and perfumed feet appear smaller than the humanoid prints. The ranger isn't sure how long he can resist the temptation to don the powerful amulet, so he stares into it a bit longer before handing it over to Saracen for immediate disposal. As the warrior priest is about to crush it with his shield, Gramble takes the war hammer off of his packed weapon belt and offers to smash it properly.

After putting a bit more thought into it, Alordan and Maag seem hesitant, the thief stepping away from the statue in front of him.

Crestbrook is perplexed by the loss of his detection ability, and even more so when he visualizes dead Cora's holy symbol, which he now wears around his own neck. He and Lerrick agree that the cursed item should be destroyed.

Gramble steps up and raises his hammer, his scribe Jeevus turns his head away, wincing nervously.

Saracen covers his body with his shield and prepares for some sort of explosion.

If he can he will try and Shield whomever is behind him as well.
